I've heard rumors Fed gonna play Stockholm Open which means he'll play 4 weeks in a row then, which is a bit tough.. seems he wants to protect his No.1 Ranking badly which is great for us, his fans.
Federer to play If Stockholm OpenTabledott 02-13-2008, 12:53 PM I've heard rumors Fed gonna play Stockholm Open which means he'll play 4 weeks in a row then, which is a bit tough.. seems he wants to protect his No.1 Ranking badly which is great for us, his fans. Dextertje 02-13-2008, 12:57 PM Fed you mug ! BlueSwan 02-13-2008, 12:59 PM It looks very weird. Maybe Federer is finding a good excuse to not play Basel, so that he can be fit for both Masters events. He'll play Stockholm and Madrid, then bow out of Basel due to exhaustion and then play Paris. I don't see him playing 4 events in a row. Dextertje 02-13-2008, 01:02 PM So he'll play Stockholm instead of Basel ?!?! another smart move Rog :yeah: :retard: :retard: Tennis-Engineer 02-13-2008, 01:05 PM I heard that Nalbandian will also play in Stockholm .It seems we will see great field in Stockholm this year. Sommarsverige 02-13-2008, 01:06 PM I also heard it already...it´s everywhere in the Swedish media ;) Here is a link for all those who understand Swedish: http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/tennis/article1830984.ab The tournament says this is the biggest achievement since Björn Borg, John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors played there. Other names in Stockholm Open: David Nalbandian Jonas Björkman Thomas Johansson Robin Söderling Farenhajt 02-13-2008, 01:12 PM Perhaps he just wants to get a more intimate knowledge of Swedish fangirl base ;) Dextertje 02-13-2008, 01:14 PM Perhaps he just wants to get a more intimate knowledge of Swedish fangirl base ;) Why? Mirka looks like an average Swedish fangirl... :p :D CooCooCachoo 02-13-2008, 01:17 PM Why  Farenhajt 02-13-2008, 01:19 PM Why? Mirka looks like an average Swedish fangirl... :p :D Blessed be thy simple soul :smooch: ArgieFan 02-13-2008, 01:40 PM mmm...i don't think he'll play Stockholm... Kolya 02-13-2008, 01:44 PM Is Basel played on the same week? Dextertje 02-13-2008, 01:55 PM No Månu 02-13-2008, 01:59 PM Knowing his usual schedule it's surprising, I don't think that he'll miss Basel and he can't avoid Madrid. Could he fear the lost of the no1 spot at the end of the year? Dimonator133 02-13-2008, 02:01 PM here's an article confirming it: http://www.tennistalk.com/en/news/20080213/Federer_to_play_If_Stockholm_Open but let's be honest, why is this already news? This is still EONS away! Farenhajt 02-13-2008, 02:04 PM Knowing his usual schedule it's surprising, I don't think that he'll miss Basel and he can't avoid Madrid. Can he fear the lost of the no1 spot at the end of the year? If he thinks he's safe "up there" (with Nadal owning him on clay and Djokovic coming up fast on hardcourts), he's just plain stoopid (or too submerged in a fairytale to use what's left of his brain). Dextertje 02-13-2008, 02:08 PM If he thinks he's safe "up there" (with Nadal owning him on clay and Djokovic coming up fast on hardcourts), he's just plain stoopid (or too submerged in a fairytale to use what's left of his brain). Why would he care so much about staying #1? He already broke the record of consecutive weeks, and the only thing he must concentrate on is to grab 3 more slams within the 5 next years... :) adee-gee 02-13-2008, 02:11 PM Points whore :o Deivid23 02-13-2008, 02:12 PM He will withdraw anyway in the end if this is true krystlel 02-13-2008, 02:14 PM He should play Tokyo instead if he wants points. Dextertje 02-13-2008, 02:14 PM Points whore :o Agreed. He shouldn't spend so much time with Rafito's mafia clan... Or Levy 02-13-2008, 02:18 PM Ranking padding for the year-end-1, I guess. I can't see him withdrawing Basel though (they might forgive him if he brings home the gold, though), maybe he'll skip Madrid? Can't see it. FedFan 02-13-2008, 02:21 PM If he thinks he's safe "up there" (with Nadal owning him on clay and Djokovic coming up fast on hardcourts), he's just plain stoopid (or too submerged in a fairytale to use what's left of his brain). Ha, ha. The only one, who has proved his stupidity in an impressive way is Mr Djokovic himself. He can't even count to three. Read his pre-match interview at the AO 2007 before he met Federer. Good for Stockholm, this might be the last year they will get a great field (in 2009 they are 'demoted' to the 250 category). Sunset of Age 02-13-2008, 06:24 PM Good for Stockholm, this might be the last year they will get a great field (in 2009 they are 'demoted' to the 250 category). Eden posted in Fed's forum that it's the 40th anniversary of the Stockholm tournament this year. That might also be a factor why Federer apparently has signed up over there. Nathaliia 02-13-2008, 06:41 PM Stockholm is a great tournament. Beautiful city, hotel, very nice public... I hope these good names won't withdraw. LinkMage 02-13-2008, 07:02 PM They must have payed him big bucks for him to show up there. Corey Feldman 02-13-2008, 07:13 PM What a bunching of f'en retards in this thread (the typical types) .. moaning about him playing here, points, money, 4 tourns in a row :retard: its about time he played a few new events on his schedule If he thinks he's safe "up there" (with Nadal owning him on clay and Djokovic coming up fast on hardcourts), he's just plain stoopid (or too submerged in a fairytale to use what's left of his brain). Here idiot goes again, cant come in Fed threads without mentioning Nole, just piss off and go lick his arse somehwere else brainless fud :retard: btw, i wouldnt go talking about someone else's tennis brain when it comes to you Farenhajt 02-13-2008, 07:52 PM What a bunching of f'en retards in this thread (the typical types) .. moaning about him playing here, points, money, 4 tourns in a row :retard: its about time he played a few new events on his schedule Here idiot goes again, cant come in Fed threads without mentioning Nole, just piss off and go lick his arse somehwere else brainless fud :retard: btw, i wouldnt go talking about someone else's tennis brain when it comes to you Mmm, already doing kegels even before Saturday? Cortisol levels high? Ate up all your fingernails fretting over a new embarrassment for Haggis Tennis? :haha: You're obviously very stressed, Dikey Mikey, and I could recommend a nice therapist - after all, you're still a buddy of mine :wavey: Corey Feldman 02-13-2008, 08:06 PM  Dikey Mikey, you did well to come up with that one, clown .. Just get your excuses ready for the next McNoleo defeat the mafia poisoned him in Moscow last week was a fave of mine infact, that Davydenko-Nole thread last Sunday was one of my all time top3 fave threads of MTF all time history, it's a sign of whats to come in future :D l_mac 02-13-2008, 08:08 PM I don't really understand Federer's thinking this year. The calendar is stupidly congested because of the Olympics and the pointless shortening of the clay season, and now he choses to add optionals at his busiest times? Estoril in the clay season (if he plays Halle he'll be practically non stop from April - July) and Stockholm during the indoor season. I suppose he knows what he's doing. Corey Feldman 02-13-2008, 08:10 PM He should have plenty of energy he played a pansy schedule in 2007 and from TMC final in November he'll have only played 1 tournie up until Dubai in March November - 1 tournament - March its about time he played some tennis. and he'll WD Madrid if anything, MM event that it is. l_mac 02-13-2008, 08:12 PM He should have plenty of energy he played a pansy schedule in 2007 and from TMC final in November he'll have only played 1 tournie up until Dubai in March November - 1 tournament - March its about time he played some tennis. I don't disagree that he should add a few optionals, I just wonder if he's choosing the right ones. Maybe he should have played Rotterdam or Marseille instead of Stockholm. I find the inclusion of Estoril particularly baffling. and he'll WD Madrid if anything, MM event that it is. rosamunda 02-13-2008, 08:18 PM It seems Federer can't do right for doing wrong nowadays. If he doesn't play what many people deem to be enough tournaments, he's lazy/cocksure/pushing his luck/inconsiderate of fans etc. If he decides to play more, he's stupid/money-grabbing/panicking/not thinking straight blah blah. Which is it? You can't have it both ways....or perhaps you think you can? Corey Feldman 02-13-2008, 08:20 PM Agree with you on that Linda, about Marseille a few years ago he said he'll skip DC for his ranking... so what is he doing now when he skips DC matches? nowt... sitting at home a month waiting for Dubai to come to him.. i dont see any problem with Estoril.... there is nothing wrong with playing a few events in a row, unlike alot of ppl think  he's only 26 - most players play 4 warm ups on clay before RG players used to play singles and doubles every week 10-15 years ago, today some of these players are pansies imo. calvinhobbes 02-13-2008, 11:02 PM By winning Dubai, IW and Miami, Roger would have enough fuel to remain N1 without optionals. He´s had a good rest, so nothing´s impossible. RogerFan82 02-14-2008, 12:53 AM Yipee!!!! Great to see Roger play more optionals. :):) Can't wait for Dubai. Action Jackson 02-14-2008, 12:56 AM Hahaha, maybe Bjorn Borg has promised him the key to Stockholm. RickDaStick 02-14-2008, 01:04 AM Fed is a great player but even a better business man. Or Levy 02-14-2008, 06:57 AM I think his desicons about bound to change along the year, and a lot of depending on what he does in IW and Miami, A sweep, or a win + a final, will surely make the rest of his year a lot easier. FedFan 02-14-2008, 01:05 PM Fed is a great player but even a better business man. He will show up, take the cash and get the hell out of there Give me one example, please! When has he last entered a small tournament, taken the cash and got out early? Must be a while. I remember lots of players doing it, but Roger? 7.2% 02-14-2008, 01:08 PM They must have payed him big bucks for him to show up there. $500 000 plus "bonus money" if he gets past the semis is what I heard. And of course the price money. :p Finally a world class player to Stockholm again. No offense Blake... Last time a "superstar" played in SO was in 2004 when Agassi lost in the final against ToJo. Nice tourney though. The best thing about it is that it takes place in my hometown. Dextertje 02-14-2008, 01:16 PM 500k$ is peanuts. Roger's definitely not going there for money... :) Corey Feldman 02-14-2008, 01:19 PM isnt that tournie in like september?and Fed's name down on the list in Feb wont do the ticket sales any damage from now till then .. then he pulls out 2 days before the start :o and the organizers still say "thanks anyway" 7.2% 02-14-2008, 01:20 PM 500k$ is peanuts.
