I didn't see a thread. Anyway, who matched the match? Can someone tell me how he played?

He played alright considering his ranking and inexperience at this level.

He/She was talking about Murray to be honest.

I know.

No live coverage so I don't know how he played - seemed like from the scoreboard Andy was struggling a bit - he was a break up and broken back twice before finally getting the first set, and 6-4 6-4 doesn't exactly sound like he was dominant.

Still, it's his first match in a month so there's probably a bit of rust.

Does there really need to be a thread in "General Messages" everytime Murray beats a qualifier in a regular ATP tournament?

Yes, as much as there needs to be one for other players when they do the same - as in "it's at the fan's discretion so why not if they want to talk about it"

Glad we cleared that up :)

Why not, there are threads in GM about the matches in qualifying itself.

Well done Andy. I guess. But I'm still pissed at him about DC :( He better damn well win this tournament, I think that's the only way I'll forgive him.

I have to say I am getting a wee bit impatient with Murray. He has to win a Masters Series atleast this year. I guess I have some residual disappointment from the AO still. Well still he won so atleast I hope he beats Djokovic here.

Just imagine the thread growing at 50 posts per minute to at least 27 pages if it were 4-6 4-6...

Well, in hindsight - I don't think Andy was THAT bad at the AO, he lost from the later finalist - a comforting thought, no? :)

Well, probably but I had expected him to make the semifinal at least:sad: so not really that comforting:)

In all honesty, so did I... but then I didn't expect Rafa to lose from Tsonga either. The second half of the draw apparently just bumped into a Landing From Outer Space...

Must say that I AM looking forward to a Djoko - Muzza clash, yeah! :rocker2:

What are you talking about I'm sure he has very fond memories of that last match. It's one of the only time I haven't seen him moping at the back of the court  (probably didn't have enough time considering the beating he took, but still :p)

More seriously i'm really looking forward to it (yeah sport+ for covering it ), hopefully it's gonna be a little more competitive this time :tape:

Of course he is, sharing a tennis court with the GOAT is always worth it  something to tell his grandsons

djokovic doesnt need to hope it exists, he's a better and more talented player and will beat murray regardless

I agree that Novak is a better player right now but I wouldn't say he was more talented. Either way he won't be in top form and Andy will def. have a chance to beat him. So I wouldn't rule out a Murray win just yet.

Keep in mind that even half-sick Novak managed to effectively straightset Davydenko in a best of three format (which we're dealing with here), and that his health will conceivably improve till Saturday Semis, so the odds won't be as tilted as they might appear.

NinaNina19

We are talking about the Davydenko who was also taken to 5 sets against Troicki.

Farenhajt
02-12-2008, 11:18 PM
Which might mean that Andy could take a set, but not two - in spite of all the talent, currently he's not two leagues above Davydenko. (And it's also known that strong baseliners are not a particularly good matchup for Andy.)

NinaNina19
02-12-2008, 11:22 PM
There's no point in arguing about it now. We'll just have to wait until Saturday (if they both get through).

Actually this is not a bad result for the Dutchman, especially for indoor tournament.
I consider Jesse much more a clay court player.
I wouldn't be surprised if I see him play singles in Skopje for the Netherlands Davis Cup team , alongside Hase in April.

Of course. (For all I know, Nole might concede a walkover as early as tomorrow.)

Anything in the Serbian news about Nole?

Farenhajt
02-12-2008, 11:51 PM
Nothing in particular. The team returned from Moscow yesterday (on Monday), Nole was still a bit off, but it seems he's gonna play anyway (it appears he wants those points badly :))

... Which is why it makes perfect sense to bring Djokovic in any result thread, wondering how the winner of the match would perform against Nole :)
