RickDaStick 02-10-2008, 03:53 PM Bob could be top 20 if he took singles more seriously Bilbo 02-10-2008, 03:56 PM this country must be very important to post a dead rubber result of a doubles player  Horatio Caine 02-10-2008, 04:01 PM :spit: :haha: :haha: Getting bagelled by Bob Bryan is bad enough, but losing the match is even worse. Don't see Bryan doing that.Bob's 29 and plays about 2 singles matches a year. It's impossible to say what he would've accomplished if he had kept with singles since College. He chose not to, so the "what ifs" are impossible. But I do think with his game and the weapons he has (huge serve, great volleys, huge forehand - sound familiar?) that if he had focused on singles and practiced for singles, he could've had a very nice career. I think it's certainly fathomable that he could've made the Semis at Wimbledon or the USO at some point in his career with his game style if he had stayed with singles. But we'll never know. And it's too bad people can't at least give Bob a little respect for going out there and playing his butt off against - on paper - a far superior opponent - playing some excellent tennis and really fighting to win a meaningless match. Good on you, Bob. Tommy fan 02-10-2008, 08:23 PM Omg :tape: Bob :yeah: RickDaStick 02-10-2008, 08:25 PM Bob's 29 and plays about 2 singles matches a year. Deboogle!. 02-10-2008, 08:58 PM Sorry, what is up with Blake?minor back injury, I believe. pretty sure he'll be ok to play Delray i don't think Mike's injury was from the quality of the court so much as he was really trying/running a lot out there and just simply was not used to running so much because the movement is so different in doubles and Mike hasn't played a singles match in ages and ages (and he has always been injury-prone, having had a nearly career-ending hip injury a la Norman a couple years ago). But apparently Andy tweaked his knee after his foot got caught in one of the holes in the court :o *Viva Chile* 02-10-2008, 09:02 PM Werner :spit: :o The Freak 02-10-2008, 09:03 PM Bob establishing himself as the early favorite to win Roland Garros. Shocking news about Isner...stress fracture in his foot? :sad:Sure thing, just going off what they said on tv. Mike's strain is only grade 1, they should also be able to play Delray (commentators quoted the US doctor as saying "he'll be uncomfortable for 4-5 days"). Too bad b/c that was actually a very entertaining match in that first set - incredible considering how long ago Mike last played singles and that it was on clay  Andy's injury sounds like it could be the worst of the 3 - someone who was there saw him limping yesterday and he left early this morning to get treatment according to PMac. Neither he nor James were even there for the matches today :o Yeah, heard that about Isner. Sucks for him :( *Viva Chile* 02-10-2008, 09:15 PM Werner should be really considered for Mug of the month for february IMO. And for "surface conditions"... like Bilbo would say: "Expected whining from the americans playing on clay" It's not Austrian fault that american players don't understand how to play or prevent injuries playing on clay (where it's supposed to be the less injury prevailing surface). At least you won the tie, so that's what matters, right?? ;) Deboogle!. 02-10-2008, 09:23 PM Werner should be really considered for Mug of the month for february IMO. At least you won the tie, so that's what matters, right?? ;)Oh please. The Austrian players were whining during the matches when they got bad bounces too. The condition of the court was awful, anyone with a brain and working eyes could see that. When a guy pushes off to reach a dropshot or drags the foot on the serve and makes a white HOLE in the clay, it's pretty obvious that the surface is not in good condition  I guess you missed the times in Belgium and Czech Republic when the US also had very tough ties (even tougher than this one actually) but commended the excellent condition of those courts? Cat123 02-10-2008, 10:34 PM Respect!! I'm always intrigued by Bob's singles career, I can't help thinking 'why bother?' but this is pretty entertaining¬! What a choke. He should retire. He's crap! The whole tie depended on it and look what he did :o W@nkers. Edit: Oh that's right. I actually said I hoped they'd take someone out and put Werner in eh. Oh well. Consistency is great. Congrats to Stef for wiping the floor with Mike yay! [please note the sarcasm] JimmyV 02-11-2008, 04:41 AM I can't believe I actually watched the last two sets of this match on TV. It's funny to hear the commentators talking about what a stunning display of clay court tennis this was. | |
