Way to go Peter :worship:. Earlier in the day, Niemeyer as expected saw off Santiago Gonzalez 6-4 6-4 7-6(1) to put us 1-0 up. Peter then brilliantly dismantled Bruno who is ranked 183 places above him.
This was only the second time that Peter had featured in a live Davis Cup rubber, his first coming against Saretta on clay at Florianapolis last year, and the first time that he had done so on home soil.

Good result for Canada without Dancevic and it will be 3/0 this evening.
Did Echagaray make a foot fault on MP ?

Wats wrong with Dancevic? Is he injured or did he choose not to play?

Frank had to withdraw from the tie due a facet joint strain of his thoracic spine, and he picked up that back injury 2 weeks ago when he was playing at the Waikoloa Challenger. He is expected to be out of action for 6-8 weeks.

Nasty. I wish him a speedy recovery.

At least he can be happy that the Canadian team are coping well, in his absence. :yeah:

If we finish off Mexico and win this tie (which hopefully we will do), at this moment in time it does seem likely that Frank's injury will prevent him from returning to action in time that for that 2nd Round tie. Of course we wouldn't stand a chance against you guys on clay, regardless of whether we were at full strength or not.

Polansky can play on clay a bit, althought it's a big ask

We will win doubles, Dancevic will beat Massu and Polansky has a shot against Massu.

Congratulations to Dan and Fred for wrapping up the tie for us at the first opportunity. I'm pleased at the fact that we were able to win 9 sets out of 9 in live rubbers, despite the fact that we didn't have our best player available.
