I don't know what happened in that first set, but Youzhny turned it around quickly.

And if the second rubber goes the way it looks like it's going to right now, Russia will be up 2-0 after day 1.

So Nole was out with that stomach bug or whatever it was? Bad luck for the Serbs.

I'm disappointed that Djokovic could not play this match. I didn't see the match but I guess the first set was only a consequence of Misha's dirty mind. He knew that he has the match in the pocket and lost concentration at the beginning.

Well the 2nd rubber has turned around a bit, so Serbia may need not worry at all...

What do you men by Misha's dirty mind? He didn't do anything wrong. he can be flakey at times - but he is not a sneaky player or anything.

I mean that he had won this match in his mind before the match started. Therefore he lost easily the first set. I think it's tough to give 100 % concentration when on the other side of the net stands a man No. 689 in the world who hasn't played an ATP-match since April 2007

Thankfully Misha recovered following that disastrous opening set. Zimonjic deserves a lot of credit for winning a set, considering he was facing an opponent who is ranked 681 places above him, and the fact that this was his first competitive singles match since Munich last year.

Okay- I understand now and agree he lost concentration. I was just confused by the word "dirty" which to me had a very negative connotation.

I wasn't trying to critisize your English at all - which is a helluva lot better than my Spanish (the only other language I can read and write in at any level). I was just explaining my misunderstanding. :)

Good showing for Zimonjic though. He and Troicki have made the day actually pretty interesting even with their two losses. I do wish, however, that we did get to see Youzhny-Djokovic since Misha has won their last two meetings but Nole's confidence is sky high right now.

Just read an interview with Zimonjic and he sad that it was tactical decision that Novak wasn't play. Novak also had fever and is better for him to rest for doubles and to play on Sunday. It's possible that Tipsy is going to plat too. Anyway he said if they win double tomorrow Serbia still has chance to win rubber (Only I don't see who can win Misha in eventually 5th match).

Novak is not healthy enough to play 2 rubbers plus doubles in 3 days, all in best of 5 sets. So the tactic is to hope he's healthy enough to win double tomorrow and single on Sunday and hopefully, Janko will be healthy enough to play on Sunday in singles.

It is a ridiculous idea but everything is possible ;)

I also believe Serbia needs a miracle for this to happen but they have to deal with what they have on hand. According to Nenad in the after match interview, Novak could not practise for the last 3 days. And with his losing record vs Misha, it not that ridiculous.

I think that was a key. It is not like it would be an easy match if he was healthy anyways. Could have been a tough match. And if he is not feeling well....

Serbia can still win...I'm not so trusting in the Russians to be honest.

As you said earlier, there was little chance that Nole could win 3 best-of-5 set matches this weekend...but that doesn't mean he can't help to level the tie by winning two in the next 36 hours...if he is up for it.

Yes he still can but you need a miracle for either Viktor or Janko to beat Misha. Troicki played good but if not for the craptistic UEs from Davydenko today, the match would not be this close. And Janko is injured, he won't be 100% so his chance of defeating Misha is remote. Unless Misha has a mental breakdown which I doubt....
