I heard this a few days ago actually, but hope for Coria this is the extra step he needs.

He did well with Nalbandian and Massu, and is doing well with Chela, I say he should never have fired Mancini, but good luck to Coria for the rest of the season.

Honestly I don't like Coria that much, but at the same time Markus has had very good results with those players that I mentioned earlier, and if Coria is prepared to listen, then it can be beneficial to him, but it's to only the end of the year.

I agree with you again.....Iīm a Coria fan and lots of time I think he needs a person that not only coaches him but also put some limits on him.....
Like Luli Mancini did.....for example when he made willy stop doing like "matador" Salas every time he won a match....
That kind of things.... :) :)

Mancini was good in his day, but isn't Coria a River Plate fan? That's probably why the Salas thing, but yes there are a few things that Gaby can help with. There aren't too many coaches left in Argentina, if he sacks Markus.

Mancini is already coaching Lappentti.....also heīs going to coach the argentinian team at the Olympics......and after that It would probably be Davis Cup coach for argentina as well.....
Yes, heīs a River fan, but i saw it as disrespectfull for his opponent.....
I think it was the right thing to do.....or the humble thing....

What is the "Salas" thing that Coria did when he won?

What is the "Salas" thing that Coria did when he won?

If you ever watched River Plate when forward Marcelo Salas played, then you would know. Gonzalo can explain it better than me, it was like the matador (Coria) and the bull (his opponent). He being the matador, teased the bull, then beat the bull.

What is the "Salas" thing that Coria did when he won?

Whenever Salas scores a goal, he goes down on one of his knees looking down and point heaven with one hand....
Coria used to do the same every time he won a match.......Thats it

To be more especific, with his second finger. Not with his whole hand.

I really liked Mancini, he shouldn't have fired him... but still, it's his desition and I respect him. I hope he'll do well with this new coach :)

wow, that was fast. Coria didn't waste any time at all. So is this coach any good? Has he coached any top names, etc?

He was David Nalbandianīs coach, then Massu and Chela.....every one of theme with good results......
Now he dumped Massu.....I really donīt know if heīs going to coach Chela and Coria, or also dump Chela to focus on Willy......

That was a picture of Coria apologising at Roland Garros after his racket hit the ball girl.

So now I understand why Coria holds one finger up after each victory.

He's stopped some of his other little habits too and I miss them. I never saw him go down on one knee, but when I first started watching him, he balanced the ball on the side of his racket before he served. I always liked that for some reason, but now he doens't do it at all anymore. :(

Thanks for the explanation. I have seen him do that and thought he was signaling that he's going for numero uno. :-)

Star, I just recently saw him balancing his ball on his racket while waiting for his opponent to get ready to receive. I think it was in Miami?? I heard he does that to help bring himself back on focus.

At any rate, I'm glad he's not going the Federer route (coachless) while waiting for the "until I retire" coach/trainer team. I do, however, think it's coincidental that the new coach's contract goes through December. Me thinks he's waiting to see if Agassi retires so he can steal his coach and trainer. Or maybe he has aspirations to convince Agassi to be his coach. Better start brushing up on his English. :-)

JAJAJA....nice theory TF....
That would be great......Agassi as his coach.....
I really would pay to see that...
But I think its most unlikely to happen

I'm glad to hear that he does the balancing thing still sometimes. I watched and watched at IW and didn't see him do it once.

He looks very motivated! He was smiling the whole time and he was playing very strong from the baseline, but also at the net! With a good draw he can win maybe some rounds!

 He was sooooo happy as a little child. They brought him to the court in a golfcar and Guille stood at the back of the car. Has was waving and laughiing all the time! Soo funny!

Chela will still be coached by Markus, so he will share the coaching duties between Chela and Coria.
