He now plays Gimeno-Traver in the next round. martine2 02-20-2008, 07:05 AM Good luck for the next round!!! :yeah: Caio_Brasil 02-22-2008, 12:45 AM Chucho d. He and Mariano Hood will be out playing doubles soon. kai. 02-22-2008, 07:32 PM http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/678.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/688.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/690.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/680.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/679.jpg Choupi 02-23-2008, 07:34 AM Good luck against Volandri!! martine2 02-23-2008, 01:08 PM They're about to start! GOOD LUCK CHUCHO!! :yeah: VolandriFan 02-23-2008, 01:40 PM Good luck Chucho  VolandriFan 02-23-2008, 02:36 PM He must be playing well now, he's shifted the momentum. VolandriFan 02-23-2008, 02:42 PM He leads Pippo 5-4 in the 2nd set now. Caio_Brasil 02-23-2008, 03:39 PM Chucho d. Volandri 3-6 6-4 6-4  Nice win for Acasuso. I saw both the 2nd and the 3rd sets and it was a really hard match. Chucho took advantage of Volandri's poor serve to come back in both sets, but it could easily have gone to the Italian's side. Chucho seemed very emotional in the end and hit the hand closed in his chests. Chucho is back to the final and now has the chance to win his first title at home. OLE OLE OLE OLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE CHUCHOOOOOOOOOO CHUCHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO martine2 02-23-2008, 03:41 PM Now win the whole thing!! You can do it! :yeah: Action Jackson 02-23-2008, 03:41 PM Chucho man he must have been as tight as a drum, but he kept fighting hard and the mental hold he has over Volandri helped him for sure. bad gambler 02-23-2008, 03:45 PM Well if he is ever going to show mental fortitude on a tennis court no better than in Buenos Aires. Well done big man, making the final is a fine effort this week. Anything more would be a bonus. martine2 02-23-2008, 03:51 PM Well, the winner will be an Argie for sure and I like all 3 of them, so that's good. Now he'll be playing Nalby or Chela. Good luck! :D kai. 02-23-2008, 07:39 PM http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/711.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/709.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/710.jpg VolandriFan 02-24-2008, 02:25 AM I thought it was a good omen to cheer for Acasuso during the match. :( martine2 02-24-2008, 09:05 AM These pics are great Kai!!! :D martine2 02-24-2008, 07:19 PM Congrats with the good run in BA. Too bad he couldn't win the title but still a great result :yeah: bad gambler 02-24-2008, 07:35 PM I fell asleep having stayed up wanting to watch the final :o Can't comment on the match as I didn't watch it but looks like he made Bandy work for the win. Action Jackson 02-25-2008, 12:43 AM I wish there was a livestream for this match, Chucho was so close, but not good enough to get the job done, good week for him. But please go deep now big man!!! Action Jackson 02-29-2008, 03:13 AM The big man didn't play that well, but he got the job done and this is what counts. He will play the winner of Massu or Almagro. Action Jackson 02-29-2008, 04:53 AM Chucho plays Almagro and also he will play doubles semis with Prieto against Horna and Calleri. Action Jackson 03-01-2008, 05:32 AM Tough loss for Chucho to Almagro 6-4 3-6 7-5 He played quite well in parts and got some treatment for his calf, just a bit of stiffness. Tough for the big man he lead 3-1 in the 3rd set, but couldn't hold the momentum, which was lost with one silly service game. Almagro's over celebration at the end of the match left him more pissed off than before. He lost to Lucho/Calleri 6-2 6-1 in the doubles as well. martine2 03-01-2008, 10:00 AM :( not a very good day for him but he can be quite proud of his results the last few weeks. Let's hope we can see a lot more of this in the coming months! :yeah: Action Jackson 03-12-2008, 04:38 AM Chucho normally doesn't do that well here, but he is not an easy section, just hope he can play well in Miami. 29] STEPANEK, Radek (CZE) vs BYE ACASUSO, Jose (ARG) vs QUALIFIER HERNANDEZ, Oscar (ESP) vs GULBIS, Ernests (LAT) BYE vs NALBANDIAN, David (ARG) [7] bad gambler 03-12-2008, 04:50 AM At least he gets a Q first up and Stepanek is very beatable here. Action Jackson 03-12-2008, 04:56 AM Stepanek has the game that frustrates Chucho, especially if Acasuso wants to stand in Nevada to hit his groundstrokes. dulkogi 03-12-2008, 05:31 PM go cucho! dulkogi 03-15-2008, 06:08 PM chucho lost 5.7 5.7 Carrie Ann 03-16-2008, 06:18 PM I was there for his match in Indian Wells. He came out and played the first 5 games with great serving and unbelievable ground strokes and took the early break of serve and was running away with the set when the wind kicked up. He was on an outer court and the wind was blowing 30mph. Horrible conditions to play. He got so frustrated. He had a bad practice session that morning because of the wind too. The day before there was no wind and he played great in practice. dulkogi 03-20-2008, 04:59 PM good luck in Miami Action Jackson 03-25-2008, 01:24 AM Chucho is playing Ventura in the first round and then if he wins that, he will be playing Hewitt. bad gambler 03-25-2008, 01:35 AM Another Chucho/Hewitt match :D Action Jackson 03-28-2008, 03:59 AM Chucho won in straight sets over Ventura 6-2 6-4 and BG gets his wish of another Chucho and Hewitt match in the 2nd round. martine2 03-28-2008, 11:13 AM You better win that one for me Chucho  Action Jackson 03-28-2008, 01:20 PM You better win that one for me Chucho  He won't win, but it would be good to be surprised. Choupi 03-29-2008, 08:17 AM Vamos Big Man!! bad gambler 03-29-2008, 11:37 AM The court speed should suit Chucho and with Hewitt vulnerable right now I think he can win or at worst push him pretty hard. martine2 03-29-2008, 11:39 AM There have been a few upsets already so why not a VAMOS now in stead of a C'MON  martine2 03-29-2008, 07:59 PM This stupid livestream doesn't work :bigcry: bad gambler 03-29-2008, 08:25 PM The most consistent off the forehand I have seen him play in a while which was the key today. Acasuso d Hewitt 6-3 7-6(4) Well done Chucho, would have been disappointed if he didn't put in a good showing today. martine2 03-29-2008, 08:27 PM SOOOO GOOD :bounce: :bounce: Action Jackson 03-30-2008, 08:08 AM The most consistent off the forehand I have seen him play in a while which was the key today. Acasuso d Hewitt 6-3 7-6(4) Well done Chucho, would have been disappointed if he didn't put in a good showing today. Great to be proven wrong and he was very solid today. He pulled the trigger pretty much at the right moments and even the slice backhand was working quite well. The Latin fans were good fun and that helped Jose for sure, now he has to play Sela. martine2 03-30-2008, 10:16 AM I hope I can find a torrent for this match because it frustrated me having only the SB. I want to see the big man beating Hewitt! tennis2018 03-30-2008, 12:38 PM wow some surprising results @ this tournament congrats 2 Jose Aleka 03-31-2008, 12:56 AM I am still shocked :rolls: In a very pleasant, 'thank God one of my favorite players is doing some damage' way :bounce: :woohoo: :rocker2: kai. 03-31-2008, 01:13 AM i dont know if here is the right pleace for this pics =D but.. there are! http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/488-Eyes30_Open_Dep_Hmg_standalone_.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/566-Side30_Open_Dep_Hmg_standalone_.jpg http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee305/kai_tek/108-Forex30_Open_Dep_Hmg_standalone.jpg Action Jackson 03-31-2008, 05:43 AM There is a picture thread and that's where pictures should be posted. Expected this one but now up to the next surprise I hope  Vamos!! martine2 04-02-2008, 03:27 AM He lost to Federer... Too bad but not unexpected. Well, he had a good run here and even better,he took Hewitt out hehe :) Action Jackson 04-02-2008, 03:39 AM Chucho played quite well for the 1st set, but a few dumb points cost him in the TB. Federer's serving was excellent and kept Chucho off balance, he got down on himself in the 2nd set. Expected result, but a good tournament for the big man. Action Jackson 04-19-2008, 11:11 AM Chucho is playing Kohlschreiber in the first round of Monte Carlo. If he wins, then he will play either Cilic or Kiefer, so there are good chances to make the 3rd round here. Time to get back on the horse after the poor result in DaVis Cup. Choupi 04-29-2008, 06:34 AM Good luck Big Man :) bad gambler 04-29-2008, 06:44 AM Perhaps it's best not to expect much from him that way when he makes the final it would be a shock Just don't like his level of confidence right now, that DC loss to Soderling must have hurt martine2 04-29-2008, 12:03 PM Chucho just retired... Any idea what's wrong? I was afraid already that the match up with Lopez wasn't good for him, but I hope there's nothing wrong with him :scared: Action Jackson 04-29-2008, 12:10 PM Perhaps it's best not to expect much from him that way when he makes the final it would be a shock Just don't like his level of confidence right now, that DC loss to Soderling must have hurt Yes, it's not a great period for him at all. He had to retire, he has had some injury problems, just hope it's not too serious. Carrie Ann 04-29-2008, 05:40 PM The ATP site listed his retirement from his match today as "stomach". On the Tennis Channel this week they are showing reruns of the final at the Movistar Open from 2006. He needs to regain that form again. Hopefully, he will in the next few weeks. martine2 04-29-2008, 06:23 PM Well, at least stomach problems are better then an injury. Hope he finds his form and the confidence again soon. Action Jackson 05-03-2008, 12:33 PM Chucho is in Rome and he has clay clown Tursunov in the 1st round, so he has a good chance to get a win here. Yes, the Chucho/Lucho show will be on a non-TV court. bad gambler 05-07-2008, 04:08 AM Nothing worse following a shitty scoreboard which back flips on scores on every point which is what happened when following the Tursunov match. Hopefully Chucho ensures Horna remains his pigeon after today. Action Jackson 05-07-2008, 05:09 AM I'd like to be out there and I will see if I have any spies in Rome, you can watch a bit of that match. Action Jackson 05-08-2008, 09:42 AM Lucho defeated Chucho 6-4 7-6(1), it was one of those matches, where I wouldn't have cared about the result either way, but hope Chucho can remember the happy times he had in Hamburg last time around. Action Jackson 05-11-2008, 07:24 AM Tough one against Berdych, maybe he can catch Berdych cold. Action Jackson 05-12-2008, 06:42 AM Draw has changed and is now playing Almagro. They had a big battle in Acapulco this year in which Chucho should have won, this time he has the heavy conditions he likes and also the fact that Almagro is having problems with his wrist. martine2 05-12-2008, 03:10 PM Good luck big man  Action Jackson 05-13-2008, 07:39 AM Almagro withdrew as expected and now Chucho's opponent is Vliegen. martine2 05-13-2008, 09:17 AM Please give Vliegen a hell of a spanking Chucho!!! Action Jackson 05-13-2008, 09:50 AM Chucho wins 5-2 as Vliegen retired. Feet were not moving at all tonight which is not suprising I guess given its his first match in a while. After the TB he pretty much gave the match away to Luczak in the second set. Btw GW are these two friends? It was played in pretty good spirits and in the end both were pretty jovial towards one another at the end of the match and had a long chat before leaving the courts. Too bad he lost today to Balleret. :( Filo V. 05-06-2010, 11:43 PM Although he lost 2-6 6-3 3-6 today in San Remo to Balleret, these past couple of weeks have been very successful for Jose. He's ranked 112 now and is about one good result away from the top 100, which means main draws at ATP events during the summer clay court season and US Open main draw. He seems healthy and fit and that's what's most important. As he showed last week, when he is playing well he's too good for most challenger players. This week is just what happens when you lack matches, his consistency, conditioning and match toughness will all be improved as he plays more matches. He is scheduled to play the Bordeaux challenger next week before RG qualifying the week after. Good luck these next weeks Chucho! Filo V. 05-09-2010, 09:38 PM Chucho is in France to play the Bordeaux challenger, here is the draw: http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2010/3824/mds.pdf Chucho is playing Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the first round, not an easy match, he's a good player and this is in France so he should be motivated. A win and he would play either Przysiezny/Clement in the 2nd round so there are no easy matches at a tournament this deep. If Jose plays well he can beat any of these players, so we'll see what happens this week. Good luck Chucho and hopefully you make a deep run in this tournament! oliversimon 05-11-2010, 10:49 PM Chucho lost today :(. Good luck to him at Roland Garros. GOOSE 10-01-2010, 02:28 PM Does anyone know where to find more information about Acasuso's status, plans, injury, etc.? Does he have a website that he reports on his efforts? I haven't been too succesful in searching google and Argentinian news/blogs. I saw him in Indian Wells a few years ago and later in New Haven and the US Open and like his game. There don't seem to be too many reports about his recent injury and efforts to compete. I see he won one and lost one in Cali. Thanks Sabino 10-01-2010, 10:13 PM I also first saw him play in Indian Wells a few years ago and really liked his game, and have been a fan ever since. Type in his name and it will bring up all the old articles on him. He also was nominated a few months ago for a JCI award, along with this friend, and the ceremony was a month ago. I saw on live internet coverage one of his challenger matches in Tunis. He was serving in a modified motion to land on his right leg rather than the left leg. I guess this is because he still felt pain in the knee. He won that tournament regardless. oliversimon 10-11-2010, 06:09 AM Chucho got a WC in a Asuncion this week, playing his first round match against Berlocq. Ad Wim 10-11-2010, 05:14 PM Very tough draw, but good that he will play again. Ad Wim 10-20-2010, 08:53 AM Lost to Berlocq, but he's not playing next week and don't see him in next week's entry list of Sao Paolo. Any news? He is 8th alternate in Medellin, so he might play there. GOOSE 10-20-2010, 02:52 PM I don't understand why he doesn't maintain a website for fans to follow. Hard to determine what he is doing and why he's in then out of tournaments. Does anyone have a better way to follow him other than looking up player entries in local tournaments? oliversimon 11-01-2010, 06:53 PM There is no better way. Ad Wim 11-02-2010, 07:30 AM He could have been in Medellin but wasn't. Don't know what's happening to him... GOOSE 11-02-2010, 01:28 PM In the periodicos press: Chucho in Buenos Aires During the week of November 22 will host the Cup challenger Topper-ATP-and organizers confirmed the presence of the missionary José Acasuso. Sabino 11-23-2010, 01:20 PM Chucho is the last match today in B.A. Does anyone know of any live streaming? Ad Wim 11-24-2010, 12:34 PM He lost pretty big, but he at least finished the match. Good luck next year! Ad Wim 12-15-2010, 08:27 PM He is not on the Sao Paolo entry list and can't find any news from him anywhere. Anyone knows what his plans are for 2011? | |
