Pico played a solid match, not spectacular but enough to win in two.
Ventura was too tentative, couldn't handle the match well.
The problem of Santiago in this match was his lack of solution in the rally, for ex.got desperate too soon, or hit in the wrong place allowing Monaco to stay in the point, stuff like that. It was a pity because he was returning very very good.
too many UEs of him..
Monaco 12/9 W/UEs ratio and Ventura 18/24

Monaco tops Ventura to reach Movistar Open final, but suffers injury
February 2, 2008
VINA DEL MAR, Chile (AP) -- Third-seeded Juan Monaco beat Santiago Ventura 6-2, 6-4 on Saturday to reach the final of the Movistar Open, but then suffered an injury that forced him to retire from the doubles championship and left the singles final in doubt.
Umpire Carlos Bernardes said Monaco "sustained a serious left ankle injury that forced him to retire and it's now in doubt for the final match on Sunday."
Monaco hit his left foot against a referee's chair while trying to reach a ball and had to be carried off the court.
"It looks pretty serious, I think it's unlikely (he will play Sunday)," coach Francisco Martelli said.
Monaco, a member of the Argentine team selected to play Britain in the first round of the Davis Cup next week, was to play either top-seeded Fernando Gonzalez or Pablo Cuevas.

 I saw that on the results sheet a while ago and was hoping Monaco was okay. I hope he will be fine to play Davis Cup. Even though the tie is somewhat of a foregone conclusion, I'm sure that Monaco will be wanting to make his DC debut.
