If Nalbandian is playing in this exhibition, it seems he certainly will be playing at Wimbledon. That should be good news for his fans.

Poor Poo. He's having a dreadful time since the great Davis Cup victory last year.

It's west of London - and yes - we are not so far from the Thames (my garden leads down to the Thames actually), - and yes - we are a lovely, leafy English suburb :)

wow, really?
What a surprise.

Wasn't really that much of a surprise I don't think Lestat - this was David's first match since the Roland Garros semis and his first on grass for a year. I was at the match and his ribs are still very heavily strapped from the injury he had, and he is definately not serving with full power or moving very freely because of the injury. He is using this to see if he thinks he has any chance of being competitive at Wimbledon - my own view after this match is probably not really  Also have to say that Feli was serving really well, and of course on grass, having a big serve is often all you need which is why I find grass court tennis so boring!

And Claudine - I watched the Moya match as well - he certainly seemed to be having problems with his shoulder although no one has any more details than that at the moment. I'm going to the exhibition again today - he is meant to be playing so if I find anything else out I'll post it here for you.

Hey, sigma. I'm just kidding. Of course there would be nothing wrong if Pantene would choose them for a commercial. It would be funny. I didn't mean to attack David or Feliciano.

I sometimes call Feliciano Felilie Mauresmo, but just because they look alike a lot. But my intention is not to attack Amelie or Feliciano. And about David, it's really fun to see his metro side. He looks really diferent.

And heya  Imagine them playing a match in the beach. The commercial would be in slow motion like you said. Then they would have a shower in tongues with Pantene Pro V :tape: ...

alfonsojose

David would run for a ball and would slide on the sand. He'd hit a down the line slice backhand to attack Felilie's backhand. Felilie would fall and say "My hair is full of sand. You won. Let's take a shower"

And i would pray for a short hair men contest between Gambill and Sluiter (i don't want Rainer to do those commercials, he's for me)

For those of you who were interested in Moya............the reason he pulled out of Stoke Park today was a stomach bug - he phoned the organisers and told them that this morning - the shoulder wasn't mentioned, even though I know he had a few problems with it yesterday. He is scheduled to play tomorrow morning, though obviously that will depend how he feels after 24 hours rest. Mark P. played Lee Childs from England in his last match - as Moya pulled out and David obviously preferred a full days' rest due to his own injuries. Sorry I don't know the score - I left the exhibition just as the match started as I was a bit tired and wanted to get home.

Philippoussis snaps losing streak
Jun 18 06:47
AAP

Mark Philippoussis has finally won a tennis match.

With only four days to go until his opening match at Wimbledon next week, the Australian broke the worst form slump of his career with a 6-3 6-1 win over Britain's world No.262 Lee Childs at a round robin exhibition event at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire.

After eight consecutive first round losses since the Australian Open in January (excluding the World Teams Cup last month), Philippoussis lost his opening match of the Boodle and Dunthorne Challenge at Stoke Park yesterday to Chilean Fernando Gonzalez 5-7 7-5 7-6 (7-1).

His hopes of a breakthrough win today looked slim when he was drawn to play world No.7 Carlos Moya, but the Spaniard withdrew from the match with a shoulder injury.

Philippoussis, who reached the final of Wimbledon last year and is seeded 11th this year despite slipping to 19 in world rankings, plummeted to new depths in his slump last week when he lost in the first round at the Queen's Club to world No.866 Ian Flanagan from Wales.

Each player is guaranteed at least three matches at the four day Boodle and Dunthorne event, with Philippoussis due to play next on Saturday.

Ohhhh, I do hope Carlos gets better for Wimbledon. We don't want him not playing again THIS year!! Better to rest now than miss Wimby.
And if he gets through to meet Hewitt in the 4th round, bring it on!! It will be the match we've been denied since D.C. final 2003 in Melbourne! (you can't count that Sydney (Adidas) final as a proper match, due to Moya's ankle injury)
It also would brighten the chances of TV coverage of that match here in Oz., as they usually only show the games involving Australians, unless it's Federer, Agassi or Roddick.

Yes, commercials are shown around the world, but countries have their own versions! :) The products can be international (it's business/marketing) with maybe slight variations, but then each country makes their own advertisements and commercials for them. Although sometimes you may see commercials playing that are clearly foreign but have been dubbed into English (or a country dubbing it to their native language) just to save money instead of filming a new commerical of their own for their country. One more thing, our own commercials at home may not always feature supermodels or celebrities or athletes because they'd have to pay them and give them a contract. But if it was a borrowed commercial just like I mentioned lines above, then chances are they could have used a famous person from the production's native country, and you wouldn't know it's a big star!

For some reason, I see a hospital visit in the offing for him. Rib injuries are quite serious, and it takes some time to be fully recovered from them-regardless of the cause of the injury.

What, both Moya and Nalby ill/injured? That's bad news for Wimby!! Just confirms how dumb it is to schedule two contrasting-surface slams so close together...

For some reason, I see a hospital visit in the offing for him. Rib injuries are quite serious, and it takes some time to be fully recovered from them-regardless of the cause of the injury.

I had bruised ribs at the same time I had a broken foot. Believe me, the rib injury was by far the more painful of the two. I never really noticed the foot until after the ribs had healed considerably. EVERY SINGLE TINY movement hurt because of the ribs. But still you must move around and do things because that's the only thing that helps them get better. I'd say it took two weeks before the intense pain went away. Then it was probably about a month before I was able to move freely with no discomfort.

Plus at the hospital, they told me that it didn't really matter whether my ribs were broken or bruised, the treatment would be the same.... i.e., nothing!

So I don't think there is a lot they can do for Nalbandian's ribs.

What happened to his ribs anyway?

Both Juanqui and David with rib injuries???????? hmmmmmmmmm

Star, he injured his ribs in his quarterfinal match against Kuerten in the FO. I don't know if he was serving or returning serve when it happened....

What's wrong with those argentinian  guys? Do they train too hard? I bet the injury is on his left side. There's something about his backhand motion, but i think it was probably while serving

I heard that it is on the left side. Don't know for sure. If it is, it may not be an injury; it may be mono. Hope not, but it may be....

The score was 3-2 to David - he was playing really well and had broken Massu - then he called the trainer out at 3-2. He managed to play a few more points and then retired. He was obviously in a lot of pain - I understand he knew beforehand that it was probably too sore to play but he didn't want to pull out and let the people down as they had already lost Moya - still don't know the reason for Moya's withdrawal today - presume that it was still the same stomach bug as yesterday. David being the sweetie that he is - talked to the people afterwards - he gave a speech explaning that he had hurt his ribs at Roland Garros and was just in too much pain to continue - he was really sad but still managed to sign all the autographs etc even though he must have just wanted to run away and hide. I know he is my favourite and that I may be accused of bias :), but he was so sweet and gracious and courteous today, and my respect for him just grows and grows every minute. Get well soon David - love you and miss you already :worship:

OH MY CARLOS!!!
And about David, that's just horrible as well. But they do say that people with two-handed backhands are more prone to injury, also depending on your technique. But how could it be mono, even the idea of it?!

I read where, if it was the left side of your body, then it could be your spleen. Well, mono does affect your spleen, so.....you draw your own conclusions.
But since the injury is on the right side, mono is practically ruled out for now.

Nope, Horna is the 33rd seed. Someone else will be the lucky loser (whoever's next on the ranking list from final round qualifying).

But you're right about Horna playing Ancic. I wouldn't give Luis a lot of hope, especially considering he was playing a challenger on CLAY this week.
