Huge props to Marrero :bigclap:. He marked his first ever match in the main draw of an ATP level event, with a victory. Since 2000, he has spent most of his career on the futures circuit. Garcia was leading 7-6 5-3*, and the Chilean has now lost his last 11 ATP level matches, dating back to Chennai 2005.
At 4-2* up in the final set, Marrero spurned 6 break points to open up a double break lead, and later on when he was serving for the match at *5-4. he was pegged back from 40-0 to deuce, and needed a 5th match point to get the job done. Thankfully he closed the match out though.

Garcia was 7-6 5-4 and serve

Well David had the advantage of coming through qualifying I suppose.

Marrero also beat Garcia in 3 sets on Chilean soil about 2 weeks ago, in the 2nd Round at the La Serena Challenger, on his way to the final there.

But that was a different match... García played too bad there, and Marrero just did his game. In Viña, García choked... in La Serena, Marrero choked at 2nd. set.
