How many times triple bagels occured at slams in the open era?

Were there any instances of quadruple or quintuple bagels? (where the final score is obviously 3-1 or 3-2)

6-0 6-0 6-0 - 5 times:

N.Spear def. D.Contet (Roland Garros 1968)
S.Edberg def. S.Eriksson (Wimbledon 1986)
K.Novacek def. E.Bengoechea (Roland Garros 1987)
I.Lendl def. B.Moir (US Open 1987)
S.Bruguera def. T.Champion (Roland Garros 1993)

It has never happened in 40 years.

I remember that Bruguera scoreline. Definitely not a cincidence that 3 of the 5 triple-bagels happened at Roland Garros, where the importance of the serve is diminished. Seen in that ligth, the Edberg triple bagel at Wimbledon looks very impressive - or perhaps his opponent just played the worst match of the century.

I was surprised to see Novacek do it.

Especially that Bengoechea was a quite good player in that time. He was No. 21 not long ago after this collapse.

I remember Champion losing that game, what an embarassement in front of his home crowd

The whole match lasted 60 minutes (18 games), 47 minutes fewer than one set in the match Sela-Massu (12 games + TB)

Closest one in the open era i think Agassi killing Hyung Taik Lee after Lee won the Sydney title in 03 6-1 6-0 6-0

Lee won first game and lost 18 in a row. Also Hewitt was very close to take "triple bagels" - he was leading against Corretja (!) 6-0 6-0 4:0 in Melbourne.

If I'm not wrong, Andy Murray was 6-0 6-0 5-0 at last year's Australian Open and then Alberto Martín won his first game to lose 6-0 6-0 6-1. He was even closer than Hewitt against Corretja.

Bengochea could only hit backhands that day and couldn't serve cause of a problem in his arm.

Agassi beat Lee 6-1 6-0 6-0 (I think) at the Australian Open a few years back...

I remember Champion losing that game, what an embarassement in front of his home crowd :lol:It was unbelievable, Bruguera wasn't doing anything special, it really was just a pathetic display from Champion.
There's a video with live commentary here ("il aimerait disparaître tellement il joue mal"):

What about players bagelling each other in the course of the match, like Tipsarevic and Sirianni this year in AO?

On the last two points (particularly on the last one point) there's nothing more to say - all that remains is to sit calmly and snigger watching you loser wriggle on the hook throughout the year.

May the force of Xanax be with you ;)

exactly. and the funny thing was that andy was upset at that as he said he had a "lack of focus"

That was funny - the Hewitt/Corretja one

that was when Corretja, conviently, started to hate Hewitt because of his "come on's" all time.... and not because he spanked your ass raw eh Alex?

Has anyone come from 0-6 0-6 down? I know Nieminen has come from 1-6 1-6 down.

No. Also Connors came from 1-6 1-6 (against Pernfors)... Koubek from 0-6 1-6 (against Saulnier).
