I'm the first one to notice the comparison.

Tsonga's FH is way better.

Not hard to realise especially since everyone on tv keeps hammering about how his backhand is Safin like.

But I was the first to notice that.

Way before. They said it like 20 mins ago, around 4-4 first set.

Tsong's FH is more powerful than BH but the BH hits less errors. Agassi has the same feature :)

you're not the first to notice, it's been discussed on tennis warehouse already ;)

Nope. Been noticed before (at least by me) during the Nadal match. Especially noticeable for those who remember the Safin of 2000, and the flashes of said fellow that occasionally come through at Paris Bercy and Aussie Open.

Only in the way he sets up his groundstrokes. Otherwise, I don't see the comparison

hopefully Tsonga has had his share of injuries before his rise.

He reminds me in some way of Marat too. Not only his backhand is similar but he volleys well also (something which Marat did a long, long time ago  ). I guess he doesn't have Marat's charisma but he's a really nice guy and it's easy to like him. :)
Hope he'll have a better career.

Backhand DTL was Marat's trademark. Tsonga doesn't possess this shot.

Tsonga lacks Safin's charisma? I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with that sentiment. He has it in spades.

I'm a BIG Safin fan, but I've got to agree with Chloe, Tsonga sure can get a crowd going. He is very charismatic, extremely laid back and likeable!
