Did anyone see this match? :)

No, but I followed livescore and he was 1 break down in the 2nd set and came back. The tiebreaker was very tight but after that he just rolled on to the title!

Congratulations to the future champ australia has been waiting for for while!!!

Yeah, I thought he was on the way out when he was trailing by a set and 1-2 (I think it was), down 15-30 on his own serve. But I'm so glad he pulled through! :) Looking forward to hearing more about him and seeing more of him in the future.

seems like the pre-open hype was justified...http://addis-welt.de/smilie/smilie/lachen/36.gif and obviously tomic didn't care that much about the fact that he was all over the press, forum etc.

it will interesting to see how Tennis Australia handles Tomic now. there will be the temptation to give him the auto wildcards to Roland Garros and the US Open now. I hope they hold off for a year in a way. he's obviously a big talent and he's already 190cm at 15 so he should develop physically well enough to make the transition to professional tennis.

in any event this result and Jess Moore making the girls final and winning a round in the main draw certainly gives us a lot more hope than only a year ago.

Hewitt is my favourite player; I was merely making a (joking) reference to how he may not be playing his best tennis lately. I realise how much he has achieved and I certainly hope Tomic achieves just as much, if not more.

Good! ;)

Anyway, is Tomic really 190cm! I saw him shake hands with his SF opponent and he was much taller, he's definitely very tall but didn't realise he's that height. That's even better. :D

Very impressive scoreline. And, a junior...an Aussie junior. I'm not usually interested in this kind of thing [might make an exception if they are more grown up like a 17yo Croatian LOL], but I was really glad to hear this! I stopped looking at the computer midway through the second set :yeah:

as i've never heard anyone pronounce him: is it tommik? towmich? towmik?

W!MBLEDON

Well, the c in his name is the accented one for the sound 'ch' so I'm imagining it's Toh-mitch or Tow-mitch.

He seems to be a damn good server.

Not quite in fact! If he is 190cm at 15 it means he will get taller and it is not the best for the movement! The best height to be is between 185 and 190 in tennis as for the movement. Look at the recent great players they were not much taller than 190 or shorter than 185...

I hope he'll stop growing...

Apparently tomic's serve speed is not great for a 190cm boy... Anyway, it means there is room for improvement in that departement!!! :)

True, true. 190cm is perfect though, he seems like a good athlete and his movement shouldn't really be affected, at least I hope not.

I remember an interview I think at last years US Open where they spoke to him about that and he said he doesn't care the way people pronounce it. One commentator was saying Delich and the other Delic in his Hewitt match.

206 km/h for average as a7y old is insane. Still he lost, not much of a ground game I guess.
Tomich must be a pretty good returner, but 195 km/h as highest speed (178 average) with 190cm hight is pretty bad, imo.:o
190cm with 15 and a few month is frightening  - could end up being Karlovic hight, which will certainly hamper his improvement and movement.

Tomic is a great player to his age, but remember that best players of juniors are playing in USA Futures (and win it) or in Portugal (like Jonathan). It's players that born in 1990 like Berankis, Ignatik, Eysseric and Elias. Juniors is not much competitive, at now. We have to wait for players like Boluda to challenge Tomic.

Anyway it's a great result, but we have to wait to see his perfomance in first years of professional to confirm his potencial.
