For the first time, I'm rather confused by Lloyd's selection. WTF is Boggo doing there? The guy is unfit, low on confidence, a poor Davis Cup singles player, doesn't have the consistency on his groundstrokes to compete in long rallies, and sucks at doubles. What possible use is he going to be? It seems that Lloyd has gone for 3 singles player and a doubles player...a wise choice should one of our singles players pull up injured, but given how low our chances are anyway, we should be gambling. We HAVE to win the doubles, and we'd have been better placed having Hutchins partnering Jamie Murray (if only Auckland could change receiving sides)...fairly good service return; good serve; okay from the back; useful volleyer.

As for Argentina...Nalbandian, Monaco and Calleri are logical picks, given their strength in singles...but Chucho? Sure, he is a useful singles player, but I doubt he will be chosen for live singles action? Why didn't you guys pick just one of two doubles specialists? Calleri or Nalbandian could have made a useful partnership with him. Chucho / Nalbandian or Calleri would still be more than a match for the GBR pairing, but I'm still a little surprised by the selection there.

As for the tie outcome...GBR aren't out of it. I mean, it is possible that Muzza wins two singles and we scratch out a doubles victory. However, Argentina are most likely to win, and Muzza is unproven on clay so I'd have him as the underdog against Bandy and Monaco.

Doubles will probably be Nalbandian/Calleri. They are the best doubles players in our country at the moment, both better than any "doubles specialist", so I don't see why Mancini should be picking someone like Garcia, Prieto or Arnold, whom have the same level as Acasuso aswell.

Argentina will probably win 5-0. Could be 4-1 if Monaco choke against Murray, but I don't think so, he loves to play with the crowd.

I'd rather have Andy playing with Jamie than Aucks or Hutch playing with Jamie. And if you are not going to play two doubles specialists, then obviously you need three singles players in the squad, and Murray, Baker and Boggo pick themselves.

I'd rather have Andy rested, to be honest. If he loses on Friday (putting us 0-2 down), then we have no choice but to play him...but, otherwise, I don't think he should be playing all 3 days. He really doesn't gel with his brother, anyway.

If Boggo weren't still our British #2, I doubt he'd be picked. I honestly do not see why he is there. I genuinely like the guy, but he will be about as useful as a sore thumb. He should be the hitting/practice partner, and not Hutchins.

We need to go all out for it, we can't go around resting players. As Baker or Boggo are highly unlikely to win a match, Andy needs to win his two singles matches plus the doubles. I know Jamie has never played with Aucks and I don't think he has ever played with Hutch, so the he doesn't gel with Andy arguement (which I don't agree with anyway) doesn't really hold up.

Obviously Argentina are the heavy favourites but I just hope that GB can push them all the way.. Neither Boggo/Baker will win a set against any of the Argentinian picks so hopefully Andy and Jamie can pull through and produce their best amidst the chaos that you always expect to ensue in DC clashes held in Argentina.

I've gone for 4-1 to Argentina but there is a chance that GB [if it was to be 'the' perfect weekend] could pull out a 3-2 win.

Come on Team GB :yeah:

Coincidentally, the biggest thrashing a British Davis Cup team have received in the last 30 years was at the hands of Argentina in Buenos Aires in 1981 when they lost 5-0 and failed to win a single set. Their four-man team, who were captained by Paul Hutchings whose son, Ross, now takes Andy Murray's place alongside his brother, Jamie, in the doubles, were beaten by a two-man team: Guillermo Vilas and Jose-Luis Clerc.

Nalby will beat the British single-handed!

Prieto was the logical choice, and the Argies have now covered the doubles angle too.

Jamie Murray criticizes brother Andy for his decision to skip Britain's Davis cup tie against Argentina. Murray pulled out a week ago, citing concerns about his knee.

"It was a shock to me, and I think for the team it's also very disappointing. It's a shame that he decided that it was best for him not to come here. It kind of affects the way I feel about him. It's disappointing that he chose not to come," said Jamie. "I think from what I've heard he hasn't actually said that he was injured, it was more of a preventative thing."

The two have not spoken since the team was told of Andy's decision, he added. "There isn't really much to say. I'm here working hard for the team, trying to do the best I can, and he's at home doing whatever he's doing. I think it's kind of up to him to clear the air.

"It's not that Andy doesn't enjoy the Davis Cup, it's just that he obviously felt that it was more important for him to concentrate on Marseille and play well there rather than come here."
