How can I meet this game and does he take one sugar or two with his coffee?

Please enlighten me.

I would like a Nadal/Djokovic final. I would prefer Rafa to win, but I wouldn't mind the 'third guy in the mix' to be solidified as officially in the mix.

i want federer to win the golden slam. this guy's close to beating every single record ever achieved and has done it in a time of rapid player development and ruff competition (in my opinion), now i wanna see him progress and take the ultimate step. i wanna see him become the legend. who knows when we'll ever be that close to sports history again, in any sport. i wanna witness it. here and now, this year.

so: best for tennis would be federer winning the golden slam. people all over the world would take a look at tennis, just like people took notice of golf when woods became the player.

absolutely wretched analogy. Woods is a completely different kind of person than Federer. Way more marketable. Way more WORLDLY. Way more INTERESTING. Way more CULTURAL. Nobody will care outside of tennis fans if Fed wins the Golden Slam because nobody KNOWS (in the deepest sense of the word) who he is. And if they did, they still wouldn't care. Everyone knows Tiger. They watched him grow up.

When you speak as though your opinions are fact, and no longer open to interpretation, you set yourself up to receive whatever discussion comes along with it.

The way this was set up, you have already decided. People are not always willing to accept another's opinions as fact, without having the opportunity to explain their criteria for feeling differently.

You cannot have it both ways- you feel as you do, fine. You cannot bristle, however, if there are those who do not agree. Choose to open up a thread that others may find a bit incendiary, you deal with the consequences.

i literally have no idea what you are talking about. I agree with everything you just said until the end. I'm not - nor have I once in this thread- "BRISTLING" about people disagreeing. I WELCOME disagreement and open discussion.

The Djokotards will be happy he at least beat Federer, the Fedtards will console themselves that at least Djoko didn't get the trophy (and their man is still #1) and the Rafatards, well that's obvious... :D The rest will be happy to see a new AO champion (except for a few haters who don't belong in the above categories, but who cares about them? :p). I respect what you are saying. Fed is 26, going on 27. He's got to be able to win RG sooner than later, right? Your pumpkin already has 3 titles. He has time to win other titles- he already exceeded what he did here from last year.

As far as US tennis is concerned, it has to be Federer winning the Golden Slam. Tennis is so far off the map in the US that it's sickening. You can't even pay sports networks to have a decent/long segment on tennis. When I say that, I'm talking about Sports Center, talk radio, etc. Except for die-hard fans, no one cares!

6 slams in 2 years & Fed can't even win Sports Illustrated man of the year over interception-prone Brett Favre. If the Golden Slam wont do it, then you can put the white sheet over tennis as far as the US is concerned.

I so don't need to see Federer get a golden slam. He's easily the best around, and it will only be another year or two before everyone will be forced to admit he's the best of all time. I can his appreciate his excellence without having to root for him. Rooting for Federer to win a tournament is like rooting for the world to turn.
