Can Tsonga "Shake Up the World" by winning the whole thing?

Everyone here is ready to crown of the big three as champion, but is it possible that Tsonga will "shake up the world" and win the whole thing?

If Tsonga defeats Don Juan Clayhote...and the Captain of the U.S. Egoprise goes down with the ship...the Frenchman has a real shot.

And, in honor of his uncanny resemblance to the most influential and famous athlete in modern times, some Ali poetry to enjoy:

I done wrestled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale; handcuffed lightning, thrown thunder in jail; only last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalised a brick; I'm so mean I make medicine sick.

I have nothing to say here, except to add more Ali poetry.... :worship:

I'll beat him so bad he'll need a shoehorn to put his hat on.

I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark.

If you even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize.

It's hard to be humble, when you're as great as I am.

Well Rafa is going to exploit his lack of mobility, but Tsonga can hit him off the court so it should be an interesting semifinal.

Tsonga is actually extremely fast for a big guy.

I don't think he will win the whole thing. I do think he will beat Rafa and make the final. I also think Nole will beat Fed and beat Tsonga in the final. I have seen all of Tsonga's matches and he will be top 10 be the end of the year.

He has everything to be a really great player. For a big guy he has lightning speed. It's mt first time on here since the start and I have watched live every session on Rod Laver since the start. Except for the 4:30 am match. Tsonga will beat Rafa and could beat Nole. He won't beat Fed but I think Nole will beat the Fed master.

the aussie open usually has a surprise finalist, and this year tsonga could well fill that role. however, the surprise finalist then usually goes on to lose, usually to federer

Tsonga looks like a fester version of (young) Safin with a bigger forhand and a bit weaker backhand (not as deadly down the line), with a good netplay.
I don't see why he shouldn't have a shot at the title. His head is what makes the difference. So far, he doesn't seem to feel any pressure, but that could change fast, when he gets the time thinking about what he has achieved already and what he still can achieve.

They dont lose. They get demolished in the most boring slam final of the year.

Well, that's two "if's", but in that case, yes. He could beat Rafa and Nole, but Federer would be too much for him in Final.

Heh, I should bump that thread that proclaimed that Gonzo would be #2 by the end of last year.

At least Gonzo finished top 10...
Tsonga top 10 is not impossible.

Well, a final at the AO would put him well into the top 20 I think and he has nothing to defend, basically, for the whole year (some challengers, a 4th round at Wimbledon and a couple SFs in minor tournamentsI). I think he has a shot if he doesn't get injured.
I don't see him doing well during the clay season, though.

Looks like we know who the bandwagon player of the month is.

I don't see Tsonga winning a set against Nadal, but we'll see what happens. Youzhny seemed to run out of gas after winning nine straight matches. Don't get too excited.

well he will get to the final and probably fall to federer cause last year i actually thouhgt gonzo had a chance and we all know how it went. anyway i wouldn't be mad if he won the whole thing

-can he beat Nadal?
Why not, IF he plays like so far, and we have seen many Rafa roastings on hard courts :)

-can he beat Federer?
No way, Fed would demolish surprise finalist, like red hot Gonzo last year...and like many surprising finalists (Schuettler, Clement,..) were dismissed here.

(-can he beat Djoker? They won't meet, for sure  )

So, if he somehow won here, he would definetly shake up the world and we would see a lot of new tards with Tsonga avatars and signatures.

In the tradition of Muhammad Ali...a poem for Jo to use (he has my permission;))

The semis will be contested for all of the fans,
How many believed Tsonga would still stand?
Going by the beat of a different drummer,
those who picked Muzza surely look dumber.
Facing the dynamo whose mastery is clay,
He'll reach for his butt: I say thee nay.
Mallorca's his home as everyone knows,
Book his flight for Thursday, cause that's where he'll go.
His forehand, speed, and heart are of legend,
The power of Tsonga makes that all irrelevant.

Onto the finals, and who shall I meet?
00 Ego or the Master of Cheat?
If its Roger, the one the fans all adore,
I'll crush that slice backhand, and show him the door.
Mirka will text all her friends the truth,
Tsonga is here; Roger's dominance went "poof".
And that record of Pete's you wanted to tame?
Jo Will's now the master, it is mine now to gain.
And what of the Serbian sensation, so young?
Ball bouncing and fake injuries only get you so far, my son.

As I raise the trophy for the world to see,
A new order is established: away with the three.
I am a just ruler, I'll give you some tourneys.
But when it comes to the slams, only Jo Will shall be earnin'

Sawan, I hope you don't mind.

I loved your poem. :D

Contesting the semis! All of you fans,
How many believed Tsonga would stand?
Moving by the beat of diff'rent drummers
No Muzza for us, are we the dumber?
To duel the dynamo; master of clay,
He'll reach for his butt: I say to thee nay.
Mallorca's his home as everyone knows,
Book his Thursday flight, cause that's where he'll go.
His forehand, speed, and heart are of legend,
The power of Tsonga makes that all forfend.

Onto the finals, and who shall I meet?
DoublO Ego or the Master of Cheat?
If Roger, the one the fans all adore,
I'll crush that slice backhand, show him the door!
Mirka will now text to her friends the truth,
Tsonga is here; Roger's reign went "poof".
That record of Pete's you wanted to tame?
Jo Will's master now, nothing is the same.
And what of the Serb, soaring high so young?
Ball bouncing brought injuries suddenly sprung.

I raise the trophy for the world to see,
Establish new order; destroy the three.
Just ruler am I, I'll leave you the rest,
But slams will remain to my sole bequest.

I can't see him winning the whole tournement. We've had several runs like this at this event from lower players in recent years(Johansson in 02, Schuettler in 03, Safin in 04, Baghdatis in 06 and Gonzalez in 07.) I could see him possibly beating Nadal, but I couldn't see him winning the final.
Nadal may actually be hurt by the lack of quality opponents, but I guess we'll find out.
