Djokovic; the third active tennis player who reaches semifinal in All four GSTennis-Engineer 01-23-2008, 07:34 AM Congrats to Nole :yeah: After Federer and Nalbandian he is the third active player to do it. Fed and Nalby both did it at the age of 24 and now Djokovic makes it at the age of 20 ! Alex999 01-23-2008, 07:45 AM Interesting stats. I wasn't aware of that. leng jai 01-23-2008, 08:38 AM And the first active tennis player to be consistently unfunny at all four grand slams. Nacho 01-23-2008, 09:10 AM 4 consecutive slam semifinals is just amazing VolandriFan 01-23-2008, 09:31 AM Juan Carlos is also quite close to that achievement. AO- SF RG- W W- QF US- F Rogiman 01-23-2008, 09:33 AM An unbelievable achievement for any tennis player, never mind a 20 year-old one  tripb19 01-23-2008, 09:41 AM Wow, very impressive, and has beaten serious competition each time. LeChuck 01-23-2008, 09:49 AM This is definately an impressive achievement. Well done to him. FedFan_2007 01-23-2008, 09:54 AM Now Rafa needs to make a US Open semi to join this elite club. Exodus 01-23-2008, 09:59 AM who cares at 20 both safin and hewitt both have won slams and were no 1s Bascule 01-23-2008, 10:16 AM Very impressive - in 4 succesive GS. HeretiC 01-23-2008, 10:26 AM Juan Carlos is also quite close to that achievement. AO- SF RG- W W- QF US- F Hewitt too: AO - F RG - QF Wi - W US - W DartMarcus 01-23-2008, 10:35 AM Roddick: AO - SF RG - 3rd round in 2001)) Wi - F US - W Apemant 01-23-2008, 10:40 AM Seems Nole is determined to become #1 at one point in the near future... his consistency is frightening. Rafa on clay was even more consistent in the last couple of years, but this dude keeps rolling on ALL surfaces. That's pretty much what it takes to become #1. Modetopia 01-23-2008, 11:11 AM Safin AO-W RG-SF W-QF US-W griffin_230 01-23-2008, 11:17 AM To reach the semifinals at such a young age at 4 consecutive grand slams is mighty impressive. MagicMilan 01-23-2008, 12:06 PM 4 SFs in a row :worship: Bascule 01-23-2008, 12:09 PM 4 SFs in a row :worship: Yes, in a row. I didn't choose right words. Adler 01-23-2008, 12:15 PM If you're interested, we've got a thread where you've got all of them mentioned l_mac 01-23-2008, 12:17 PM Nice work, Nole. Grunge 01-23-2008, 12:30 PM I have few stats questions. How many players since Open era made all 4 semifinals in career? How many players since Open era made all 4 semifinals in row? How many players since Open era made all 4 finals in career? Who is youngest player who made all 4 semifinals? (and who is youngest who made it in row?) Who is youngest player who made all 4 finals? Just curious. Thanks in advance! rocketassist 01-23-2008, 01:16 PM Novak is undoubtedly a great player, but it shows what an unchallenging clown era this is that he completed this task at the young age of 20. Clown era. Manon 01-23-2008, 01:27 PM Novak is undoubtedly a great player, but it shows what an unchallenging clown era this is that he completed this task at the young age of 20. Clown era. Bull and you know that. There's life without tennis, you know? rocketassist 01-23-2008, 01:28 PM Bull and you know that. There's life without tennis, you know? The likes of Boredo have made it on the brink of top 5 in this era. That's how bad it is. Novak deserves credit though, but he's hardly been tested here yet. garad 01-23-2008, 01:44 PM Novak is undoubtedly a great player, but it shows what an unchallenging clown era this is that he completed this task at the young age of 20. Clown era. How challenging era was it when Becker won Wimbledon at 17? NikolaBGD 01-23-2008, 01:47 PM rocketassist, Before 2-3 months you had Novak in your sub, what's the reason for this change of your opinion? Apemant 01-23-2008, 01:54 PM The likes of Boredo have made it on the brink of top 5 in this era. That's how bad it is. This just BEGS for a history lesson: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=78615  rocketassist 01-23-2008, 02:04 PM rocketassist, Before 2-3 months you had Novak in your sub, what's the reason for this change of your opinion? He's okay, he's not a top fave but he's a good game to watch. However I expected him to be about 23 when he achieved stuff like no 3 in the world. To be fair apart from the two above him, there hasn't been much competition. tennizen 01-23-2008, 02:14 PM That is an impressive achievement for sure. He does have consistency but his downtime has not yet come. I wonder if it will or not? anon57 01-23-2008, 02:36 PM For such a young player, that's very impressive especially considering he's now reached at least SF or better in his last 4 slams. Jimnik 01-23-2008, 02:44 PM Congrats to Djokovic, to be so consistent at such a young age is very impressive. It's especially impressive when you consider the players who never achieved four GS semi-finals in a row. The likes of Sampras, Becker, Edberg and Wilander reached all 4 semis but never consecutively. tangerine_dream 01-23-2008, 02:45 PM Very impressive for a 20 year old. :hatoff: Nole makes a nice spoiler to the Roger-Rafa party. Shabazza 01-23-2008, 03:50 PM Very impressive for a 20 year old. :hatoff: Nole makes a nice spoiler to the Roger-Rafa party. Nice sig. Where did you got it from, or did you make it yourself? tangerine_dream 01-23-2008, 04:33 PM This also begs the question: will Nole become the new Roger or the new Fat David? ;) Nice sig. Where did you got it from, or did you make it yourself? It was an ESPN fluff filler thingy. It's cool, isn't it? :) Here's the actual video I took it from. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdcwbK-VMIQ) Agassi Fan 01-23-2008, 04:39 PM Well done Nole! R.Federer 01-23-2008, 04:45 PM Impressive feat. Justifies his ranking. Amazing that it should be him, and not Nadal or Roddick or Hewitt --- but then, those 3 have something much much better that he would trade all of his GS SFs for. :) Alonsofz 01-23-2008, 04:48 PM who cares at 20 both safin and hewitt both have won slams and were no 1s but that were different times, without an ATP "dominator" madmanfool 01-23-2008, 04:50 PM He joins an elite group Rafter did it too (YES i know, he's not an active tennis player, take it easy ;) ) R.Federer 01-23-2008, 04:50 PM Very impressive for a 20 year old. :hatoff: Nole makes a nice spoiler to the Roger-Rafa party. Well the person he really spoils it for is the one who hoped to be in the mix. Djokovic is the one who is a bonafide candidate in the mix with Federer and Nadal. Of course it is still early and who knows if he can hang in there long term. FedFan_2007 01-23-2008, 04:56 PM Djoko isn't a spoiler for this AO, he's a spoiler to the Fedal duopoly. Fee 01-23-2008, 05:20 PM Impressive accomplishment for the guy who is younger than Gasquet. Getta 01-23-2008, 06:45 PM Impressive accomplishment for the guy who is younger than Gasquet. | |
