Worlds top 6 to play Dubai

Has it ever happen that the worlds top 6 have played in the same tournament when the tournament doesn´t have any Grand Slam or Masters Series status? :worship:

It is an incredible line up with Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Davydenko, Ferrer and Roddick. A cut of 36 with 8 of top 10, also includes Gasquet, Murray, Haas, Robredo,Berdych, Youzhny.....and so on....:worship:

Will be very tough to win those 300 ranking points.
Congratulations Dubai!:clap2::bigclap:

dubai has always been the best tournament ex gs/masters regarding participants; the facilities must be brilliant, the heat is supposed to be dry (resembling with indian wells) so it's not that hard to cope with the extreme conditions and the money's quite good as well. unsurprising though, as the sheiks don't give a shit about making losses or that kinda nasty stuff western countries have to take into consideration.

Wow - the other event that week (Las Vegas) will be weak as water!

on what? on being lucky that oil was found under their camels' asses, figuratively? it's not an achievement to become filthy effing rich by chance.

I wonder if Harel Levy is still on the alternate list. Would be great for tennis for him to try to show up for qualies and get thrown out of the country.

I bet Rafa will get Robredo, Gasquet and Davydenko in his half. :(

There is only Las Vegas the same week. Three top 20 players there; Gonzalez(7), Baghdatis(16), Canas(17). Cut off 74

Don't think that would happen.

As I understand it, both Peer and Obziler are down to play WTA Doha or Dubai this season and I believe that's going ahead.

Yeah I caught that after I posted - normally there's Acapulco that week too but things have moved around this year.

I've no doubt that, for the third year in a row that I can remember, they won't show the final live and they won't show it complete.

No way in hell it is just about money. How could anyone even THINK of that??

Is it certain all of those people will be Top 6 when Dubai begins?

Harel is on the alternate list? That's news. The news here talked about Tzipi and Shahar going (Tzipi to Dubai, Shahar to Doha (She promised to play Memphis, so no Dubai for her), but said nothing about Harel.

Its a great tournament..The players probably get the best treatment, maybe they even spoil them like rich arab kids. The club where the courts are is great eventhough its extremely artificial and its fun...

But if im correct, i thought nadal was gonna skip Marseille and Dubai and play clay tourney instead?

If he's that low down, he probably won't go. He might have a better chance getting in to qualies in Memphis, and I haven't looked to see what he might sign up for the week before and the week after.

This bothers me a bit. I'm not really sure why though. I like the Arab countries a lot. But this just shows how money is everything. We see some of the top players missing some big events especially towards the end of the season. Hamburg always suffers from withdrawals, and Paris has had it's share as well. Still, decent cash offered and we have a bunch of big names travelling to Dubai. We'll probably see some of the players travelling from Memphis to Dubai to Indian Wells. Is it wise scheduling? Probably not. Is it worth it financially? Absolutely.

And we hear the complaints about the season being too long. Having said all this, nothing wrong with having some tournaments in the Middle East. They are very beautiful countries.

Hamburg and Paris are suffering coz of untimely schedules, not lack of money...And money is everything.Dubai is the best IS tournament...Eventhough i dont like the fact that its in Dubai which has no identity but theyve done a great job with the tournament, with a lot of money!

If Nadal wins the Australian Open and Dubai and Federer loses in the semis of the Australian Open Dubai could be the place where his #1 ranking will be in serious jeopardy.

I wouldn't play there. I take issue with countries that are willing to spend millions to get tennis players to come there for a week yet aren't willing to provide basic services to their people.

this year Rotterdam and Dubai are not played in back to back weeks, the schedule is better for both tourneys

Dubai should be one of the most interesting tournaments of the year for sure...we might have the #1 ranking on the line and there could be 1st round matches like Federer-Murray or Nadal-Berdych
