He hasn't dropped a set yet and Roger is not playing his best. I think he has a real opportunity here.

No, hw's playing no better than he was when he got destroyed by Nalbandian, Federer and Youzhny in the last few months.

Well he's still there so it's possible, though I tend to think the (likely) Federer-Djokovic winner will go on to win the title.

Well he's in the semis so I guess he has a pretty good chance......... though I have to be honest and say I sincerely hope not

Sure he can. I don't really think he WILL, but that's not the same thing.

And that will be fine, so long as Fed wins.

he can and he will

he's in SF has saved enough energy and he gives all his heart when he's so close to the title

a likely Djoko-Fed semi will get the winner very tired also

Nope

winner of Fed-Nole is winning this title

both would beat him in the F.

Ali is going to destroy him

he pretty much needs Djoker to beat Fed, then he will have a solid chance

even if he plays Fed in the final he at least has a remote chance if he plays like he did against Nemo, unless Fed catches fire. But it won't be a good chance unless Djoker shocks the world before Nadal gets a chance to do the same.

I think not only he can but also he will... See what happened at wimby last year he was so close on fed's best surface so imagine on a surface that suits, IMO, more his game than fed's. I don't think he will miss that opportunity this time. Not to mention that he will be much more fresh than fed. Also, if you think of all the matchs they've played on outdoors hard courts (miami 04-05 and dubai 06), rafa has the upper hand. Remember fed always struggled against him even in the miami 05 final when he won. I think the conditions are quite similar to miami...

I'd really love fed to win again the title but I doubt he will this year.

Tsonga will annihilate the bumrooter from Mallorca.

The consequence of a rigged draw is that the other finalist will very likely be a very strong opponent. The final is as far as the ATP maffia can bring him.

Final is possible but I don't think he will win. I actually think he will lose to Tsonga in the semis.

Like I've been saying for a couple of weeks now, this tite is Nadal's ever since the cupcake draw came out.

The Australian Open will now go back to the dark ages when everyone considered it a MM Grand Slam.

Dude has to beat Tsonga to get a shot at the title and I'm not so sure that's gonna happen.

Blake will cream Nadal as usual in the final.Much as I like James, he's more likely to be creaming someone in his hotel room when the final takes place.

Probably Fed, as much as he bends over for him :o

Probably Fed, as much as he bends over for him :oPerhaps he'll make a cream cake for Nadal, a memorial to the shameful cupcake draw which disgraced the Australian Open forever.

tsonga v djokovic final. Tsonga's first grand slam trophy. tsonga will thank djokovic for taking out federer in 5sets. Djoko is tired and Tsonga(who DISMANTLES rafa in 3) takes out Djoko in 4.

funny how many people would say fed's not at his best just because of the 2 recent tight matches.

in his first 2 matches, he breezed right through.

Let's see what he does with Tsonga, who seems to be on fire right now.

If he gets to the final, I like his chances.

this "fresh" before the final is bullshit, it only counts when one of the finalists had to play like three 5 setters in a row. All of the players can recover pretty well in 48h.

Also, in the wimbledon final, Nadal had played like 14h while Federer had played 9 or something, and we all know how close that match was.

I also find very weird that people are saying Federer is not playing well. He only seemed sloppy against Tipsarevic, the other games he was pretty damn good. But nowadays if a person loses a set he isn't playing in his best form, so what can I do ahah.

:yeah: There are people who say that Nadal's excessive amount of play prior to the Wimbledon final cost him the title but anyone who saw that fifth set knew that he played as well as he had been.

Nadal is not a player I like but it would be hilarious if he won it, just for the outrage and suicidal reactions of posters on here.

hope Baby Ali wins though.

Oh yes, and if he didn't take than injury time out, he would have bagelled Fed in the last set as Fed was still having a meltdown. :D ;)

off topic a bit... the reason nadal makes it to the wimby final is his mommentum from the clay season filters all the way there... but after that, bam! slide down again,,,,

Yeah, I lost count of the number of times I read that after the Wimbledon Final! :)

Making derisive remarks about Nadal is never off topic.

Have I answered this thread question yet? If not - Unlikely is my answer.

Of course he can. That's why the matches are actually played rather than spit out result from a computer basing things on stats.

First, he has to reach the final. Doable, but nothing is guaranteed. And then, it really depends on who is there. Can he defeat Federer? If Janko can do take Fed to five, then it is always possible the world #2 can defeat Federer. Count Cheatula...where the time between points could very well add up to being longer than the match itself? Pics? Yes, if five hours of clay court tennis are your cup of tea.

The players have stated that the surface is playing a little like the grass at Wimbledon. Rafa has shown his prowess there. As a Rafa fan, all one can ask is for a shot...and a shot is what he'll likely get.
