Does Djoko look unstoppable?

He looks like he's added more muscle and is absolutely dominating right now. I fear for Roger.

Me too. And the rest of the field.

I haven't watched any of his games yet (I try not to unless absolutely necessary)...is he still playing like davydenko + 4 inches?

How different is the view from the other side of the fence.

For those of us longing for Novak to win the whole thing, his lack of recent top class opposition since meltdown in Shanghai and his oh-so-easy first 3 matches, plus the weight of expectation facing him after last year's successes, all combine to give me collywobbles about tomorrow's matchup with Hewitt. Hardly dare to look beyond that...

But what do I know - I had money on Nalby...

For what it's worth, I still pick Fed for the whole thing and will be happy to see it happen. My admiration for him knows no bounds.

A bit early to call, isn't it? He hasn't played any seasoned competitors just yet. Roger looked unstoppable against Hartfield and Santoro and almost got blindsided by a fighting Tipsarevic.

Hewitt should test him, though I'm not sure how much that marathon with Baggy will affect his chances.

Yes. Plus vastly superior serve.

Unstoppable? I don't know, who did he play that was really suppose to push him?

His match against Hewitt would be more telling, I think. Not that Hewitt is a contender, or anything.

Ive been impressed with what ive seen from Nole BUT his draw has been a bit of a cakewalk thus far so anyone would look good!

Hewitt match will be the crucial one. I'd fancy him for the whole thing if he wins that one.

Yes. Plus vastly superior serve.

That's where the 4 inches come in...Davydenko's serve isn't all that bad for his height.

I can see Djokovic beating Federer and making the final this year. I don't know if he will lift the trophy though.

I hope Federer can actually still hold him at bay.

I know I know, it's awful isn't it?

Then we get what could be the match of the tournament: Federer vs. Djokovic. In my view the winner of this semifinal will go on to become the Australian Open champ. Djokovic is 1-5 against Federer, including last year's U.S. Open final, where he lost in three tight sets. I'm guessing the peer-imitating Djokster is ready to take the next step, and he did beat Federer for the first time on his way to the title in Montreal last August. He's my pick to stop Federer's run of 10 consecutive major finals and win the title here.

We have no idea how Djokovic will fair against good competition. He'll probably dispose of Hewitt, but the QF will be tough. If Ferrero can overcome Ferrer, I think he surprises Novak. I still think Ferrero at his best is better than Djokovic at his best and a smarter player.

Djokovic looked really impressive to me in his 3rd round match against sam.....he atleast goes for his shots,...which is a good thing when the next gen tennis starts like rafa, murray and gasquet(I fail to undertsand y this guy plays like this) resorting to moon-balling.....I hope Tsonga, Cilic will come up fast.....

He's lucky he will face Fed in semi's where he is still vunerable. So he has a decent chance.
Nadal in the final (should he even get there) will have no chance whatsoever.

Well lets see. I think he is the greatest danger for Roger. He was pretty close at the US Open and if he improves a bit or Roger is a bit off Djoko will take him out. I actually fear Djoko more than Rafa. That said I don' t think he is unstoppable. He has been stopped in all GS before so why not this time?

If Fed brings his A Game he will win cause he is a freak:devil:

by the way it's true. that bud changes his mind. i remember during french open at first he picked rafa, and i was going phew, and then like just before the final he decides roger's going to win. LMAO.

All joking aside, I've only seen a little bit of Nole this AO (Better match on another court/Eurosport prefer to torture me with WTA /I haven't bothered staying up for him) and that was the last set against Becker and he looked all right. Not awesome.

But as Marek says it is far too early to say. He hasn't been tested yet, and I don't really see a test for him until a semi vs Fed

Hewitt and then Ferrer/Ferrero are definately tests, especially the second one. Ferrero has been playing incredible tennis this tournament.

I guess this tournament could go either way for Djokovic - and Nadal come to think of it. Both have not dropped a set, but I don't think that's always a good thing. At least Nadal had a mini-test in the first set against Simon. On the one hand, Djokovic seems to be in top form. OTOH, will that form hold up in subsequent rounds when he has to play tougher opponents? I don't think he'll have much trouble against Hewitt. As much as I rooted for Hewitt to beat Baghdatis (what can I say except I was overwhelmed with nostalgia), I don't see Lleyton troubling Novak. I think Djoko has too much game for Rocky.

I suppose that is a good answer to give, you never really know a test until it's happened. If Ferrero keeps up his form he is going to be VERY hard for anyone to beat. Big serving, big hitting, consistency, good movement. There isn't a chink in the armour if he keeps it up.

I'm not sure I've ever even known about Bud, Nole and US Open :) basically, I'm not into any kind of "serious" superstition - people lose matches because they don't win them, not because there's some voodoo at work :) (though... I'd check if Mirka carries all the necessary dolls around in her bag ;) - Janko caught her off guard, obviously, but I'm sure she's having it made for her as we speak :))
