Who'll win?
Ferrero is ultraredhot nowadays, but Ferrer should leave all heart on court.
Hard to call, but Ferrero should be a fav here imo, even if H2H is 4-1 for David (1-1 on hard).

Ferrer is still the slight favourite but it should be close.

JCF in a long 5 setter.

Ferrero will win easily. Ferrer hasn't proven anything about his form other than losing to Benneteau the other week. His draw here was a joke (Roger Vasselin, Del Potro ret., Spadea).

JCF to continue his good run
on paper he's a better hard court player

i voted for ferrero not because i think hes gonna win but because i want him to, he has a good chance im just enjoying watching him attack the ball, he looks so much better when playing aggressive. plus ferreros looking hot right now!

Pics in 4. He hasn't been tested yet but on the other hand neither was JFC in a real sense.

Ferrer in 4 sets. 7-6 6-7 6-4 7-5. It will be a long match with a lot of breaks, i hope ferrer wins.

I feel pity for the umpire and commentators. It's almost as wors as Thomas Johansson and Joachim Johansson

Ferrer in 4. Just because of H2H

If Ferrero executes controlled aggression to the highest level he is capable of, I really wouldn't rule him out of this at all. However, Ferrer is the more likely winner.

Ferrero can do it.

Despite being Ferrer's fan I'd say Ferrero clinch it after tough match.

Ferrer - I hope :) But think it will be very close, and woud love to be able to see it. Sadly 2.00am is not a good time to start watching a match when I have to be at work the next morning

Don't forget that Juan beat David in an exhibition just before the start of the season. ;)

In all honesty, Juan Carlos has the match on his racquet. I hope he's mentally strong enough to close out the world number 5 in a grand slam 4th round, there's no question he has the game to do so again.

I get up at 5.30am for work anyway, - so I may get up half an hour earlier and watch for an hour or so then, but I'm one of these people who cannot survive without sleep. and if I try and go to work on no sleep I will make myself ill so I probably won't see all of it  I'm kind of used to it now - AO is always like this for me

Grinders' delight!

JCF is playing well, it's hard to predict because it's hard to know if his unexpected form is here to stay or not. I think JCF is going to knock out two Davids in a row.

I've totally adjusted my sleeping habits for AO. Sleep after work till 8. Dinner. Back to bed till 1/2 am(depending who's playing) then up until matches I have an interest in have finished. Some days I've had to go staright to work, other days I've managed another couple of hours sleep. No chance for the night matches unless I take a sick day (have been waiting for the 2nd week) and I've had no social life but it's only 2 weeks. I'm meant to be going away this weekend .. I'll see who gets to the final before I decide whether to go.

As for this match ... I like Ferrer more, but think Ferrero has been playing better. I have no idea.

Hard to predict since I still haven't seen Ferrer play yet, but if ferrero continues to play and serve like he did yesterday he has a good shot IMO

JCF has got the bigger shots, and more importantly the bigger serve. He's also returning very aggressively. And he was holding back a bit against Nalbandian. Based on how he dismantled Kiefer in round one, I'm going with JCF in three or four sets.

Good for you :yeah: I guess you're probably a lot younger than me  Your schedule would kill me!!! I did have one (genuine) sick day last Tuesday, but I didn't really watch tennis that morning - I was too busy following Dima v Malisse on the live scoreboard on the Net instead  How sad is that?

If it goes like the other matches with top 25(ish) fellow countrymen playing each other - Youz-Davy, Tsonga-Gasquet , then Ferrero.

Ferrero is looking hot - both his game (and just him). It's gonna be a marathon. I hope Ferrero comes out ahead. I'd love to see him moving up.

Think Ferrer still has the edge in this matchup and I'd love to see him follow up his great results from late last year. OTOH, it's great to see JCF playing so well again after many had written him off so, whatever the outcome (barring injury to the loser or a totally exhausted winner), I won't be disappointed :)

Ferrero win in 3. It's not a prediction, it's just a wish. My other wish is that the other 2 men's matches on now will last long enough so ESPN2 won't go off air and will show a bit of the Ferrero and Ferrer match. Damn that woman match for taking so long.

I share in your worries. Berdych is a freaking moron and blew that tiebreak, now Fed should finish him fast in the third. All the while, we are stuck with some stupid doubles match on Vodafone that will probably last a couple hours. After Fed, espn will have nothing to show live, so either tape delay of one of the "classics", then Ferrero, or more likely, nothing until 2:30. All this because of stupid Berdych and even more stupid Kirilenko.

Ferrero has better HC results in the past 2 weeks

or past 5 years

or do you take the time interval you like more?

No, you take the time interval that supports the player you like. ;)

I know I'm late on this thread, but considering the scores are pretty much even at the time I'm posting this, I'm gonna say Ferrero. He's been totally amazing at the AO and even at Auckland, and from what I've seen of him live he's been so impressive. Saying that, I'm even more Ferrero crazy than ever right now, so that may just be very very biased, but I don't think so. Ferrero in 5

Ferrer was utter crap 5 years ago, that is a ridiculous time horizon. With your logic, we might as well say that Hewitt is a far better hc player than Djokovic.

As for the past two weeks, it is true that JCF played well and he beat two big names very easily. However, both Nalby and Kiefer were badly prepared so those victories were no great indicators of hc pedigree.
