Mens Tennis: High Quality

After watching nail biting male competition, I think they deserve much higher prize than womens.

I think same way. They plays much more hours than woman.

This thread has been done so many times, even more than Paris Hilton has been done.

Please, not again :lol: I must confess that I watched a bit the 1st round of Jankovic, the morbid part in me wanted to see both of them disqualified for crimes against tennis.

They make the four majors a lot of money so they deserve equal prise money for that.

Women should play best of 5 sets then.

Does anyone here pay less for a boring movie or a shorter movie or just a plain stupid movie at a theatre, than for a worthwhile movie? "Entertainment" value is subjective.

Believe it or not, there are some people who would prefer to watch women prancing around the court for 1.5 hours in sportswear and get much much more out of than than watching what most here would call high-quality tennis in a men's 4 hour nailbiter.

That said, just live with it. It's not going to change.

Well, if we could design a mechanism where everyone would pay the max they are willing to pay for a specific match, everyone would be happy. But since that can't be done, a mixture of politically appropriate behavior combined with confusion about who prefers what leads to the current scheme.

On the flip side, and a different area, many many countries now offer maternity and paternity leave on equal terms after the birth of a child. This is ridiculous. S*** happens to both genders.

Actually, I would be prepared to discuss equal pay in the slams in return for having a deciding tiebreak instead of a 3rd set. That would be a fair compensation for spending less time on the courts overall :lol:

I mean, if women were to play less tennis on aggregate, that would be of net benefit to people preferring to watch other matches. Hence, it would only be fair to provide part of that increased benefit in the form of monetary compensation for women.

There are some scheduling complications and within-gender compensation questions involved, but when you do that, you will see some stadiums fill up and some stadiums remain less full or empty, if they are being billed at the same price and if it is true that one gender "should" be paid more.

Over the long haul, this is not sustainable. Then, the gender whose stadiums remained empty would have to be offered at lower and lower prices until people were willing to pay that price to watch (reservation cost) -- then shell the proceeds of the stadium to the gender accordingly.

The slam organizers would never agree on such a scheme, say that you put the Federer and Blake matches on Rod Laver and you put the women's matches on Vodafone. If people derive more pleasure from watching men's tennis, (in the absence of a discriminating scheme like the one you have in mind if I understand you correctly) then how would the organizer set prices so as to maximize revenues?

I don't think this is a trivial problem, at least the solution is not obvious. Hence, if the organizers suspect that viewers derive more pleasure from watching men's tennis, and if they charge a single prize for a stadium, they would practically end up doing what they are doing now: Mixing men's and women's matches, so people who want to watch Federer-Berdych are also watching the women's matches on offer.

that sounds like a good idea but i dout it will ever happen. Sometimes womens tennis isnt so bad though but this Australian open is really only exiting because of all the big mens matches. Jelanas first round was good though. I hope the semis and finals can be as exiting as whats happend so far cause i got tikets and wanna see a big 5 setter or three.

Should play best of 5, I don't like most of it but if I don't like I don't watch. They are earning same amount of money for playing less and playing a hell of a lot worse.

I think male porn stars should get the same amount of money as female porn stars.

Personally I really dont see why people care. Its not like its improving tennis for us or getting us more tournaments on tv, and its not money going into our pockets. I really like mens and womens, I rather watch some womens matches more than men but it works both ways. I cant enjoy a tennis match for 5 hours unless one of my mens fav's are playing. Thats why I like the fact women play 3 sets tops, that way I know I wont have to put up with watching 5 hours of justine or serena.

It'll be the end of tennis if women were to play 5 setters. They'll keep getting broken until a coin has to be tossed to decide the winner. Just let them have the same amount of money.

If it was up to me, i would give women double the prize money of men, but with the condition that they wouldn't play the games, just a spin of a coin to decide the winner. :devil:

I agree that women tennis is MUCH MORE entertaining.... While there is a women game on tv, i could play Pro on my ps3, i could be downloading milf porn or i could be navigating in menstennisforums.com and be entertained by Xristos posts :D :D :D

WTA is a joke.
Brainless ball bashing. Easy, boring matches, with tournament winner usually dropping as many games as Federer in one five set match.

Henin and some five more girls are good, everybody else dont know how to play tennis.
They should get at least 20% less.
