For those of you have been in a hole, Ronald Reagan, the US President for most of the 1980s died last Saturday and his funeral was held today in the capital.

I'm wondering from those who remember him, and are from the former USSR or its satellities, do you believe, as he has been credited with by the US media, Canada and United Kingdom this week, with ending the Cold War and bringing the fall of Communism?

Why or why not?

I'm very interested in your views. :)

I think he contributed and played his part, certainlly a self minded individual who stuck by his own beliefs which were often proved to be right ones.

Also I admire him for starting out as a democrat and changing to a republican, when people brand leaders as "war mongers" Reagan was certianly not that, I think GW Bush coudl learn a hell of a lot after a personality transplant and a look at Reagans reign and maybe learn some humanity and common sense.

Interesting from threads I've read, even Reagan supporters can't stand Dubya.
