pretty good field with 4 out of 5. Very good players from no1 to no25. rather saw some other guys then seppi and berrer but 2 out of 25 who I don't like is a great score. And offcourse maybe good players to draw for the Dutch guys

Are there any interesting dutch players who play on those two qualification days? Igor Sijsling maybe? Jesse Huta Galung?

Well, there's one main draw WC left, so it could go to Sijsling or Huta Galung. Otherwise, I am pretty sure Sijsling will play qualies, and Huta Galung too, probably. There's only one Challenger that week, in Besançon, on a similar surface as Rotterdam, so they might as well go to Rotterdam. Also expect to see Koning in R'dam.

Probably, it was in the process but obviously he didn't get it.
He will 100% play in Bezanson.

WC for Baghdatis?? After all the stories? People were saying last year he has a contract to play in Rotterdam, but he didn't enter the tournament, so he was given a WC too, but declined it 2 days later because he was supposedly injured - still playing quarters, semi and final in Marseille though...
Is he still under contract with Rotterdam?

Ridiculous choice after Baghdatis screwed Krajicek over last year.

However happy I am to see him appearing over there, I have to admit... it's kind of fishy. Guess things weren't actually properly sorted out last year - perhaps Richard threatened to file another lawsuit, if he wouldn't show up this year?

Baghdatis Back
By Tennis Week
2/12/2008 2:01:00 PM

Marcos Baghdatis' abrupt departure from the 2007 ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament did not exactly endear him to organizers. But Baghdatis, his manager and tournament director Richard Krajicek cleared the air over the Cypriot's 2007 withdrawal and those discussions cleared a path for the 2006 Australian Open finalist to receive the third and final wild card into next week's Rotterdam event.

"I felt uncomfortable about not being able to play in Rotterdam last year," Baghdatis said. "I am therefore delighted to have the opportunity to participate and hope to play some entertaining tennis."

The tournament is set for February 18-24 in Ahoy Rotterdam. Baghdatis joins a field that features second-ranked Rafael Nadal, third-ranked Novak Djokovic, fourth-ranked Nikolay Davydenko, fifth-ranked David Ferrer, eighth-ranked Mikhail Youzhny, the defending champion and 11th-ranked Andy Murray.

Krajicek, the 1996 Wimbledon winner, said he's eager to welcome Baghdatis back to the 32-player draw.

"I have had several discussions with Marcos and his new manager. We’ve put the past behind us, and I very much look forward to seeing him play in Rotterdam," Krajicek said. "Marcos Baghdatis is a highly capable, charismatic player and a superb addition to our very strong tournament line-up."

A year ago, Youzhny beat Tomas Berdych, Robin Haase and David Ferrer in succession before scoring a 3-6, 7-6(7), 7-5, semifinal victory over the then 14th-ranked Djokovic. Youzhny topped Ivan Ljubicic, 6-2, 6-4, in the final.

For more information, please visit the ABN-Amro website.

why is Tsonga out?Because he needs a break.
He also had some pain in the elbow yesterday and always has to be careful for his back, so maybe he will mention an injury for his withdrawal, but he mostly needs some time off, he made it pretty clear yesterday.

why is Tsonga out?

I read that the reason he gave Kraijcek is fatigue, which given his unexpected run at the AO and playing DC last weekend makes sense. I'm still kinda dissapointed, I was hoping to see him play.

Nole has a stomach virus.

I had been wondering when Djokovic would officially withdraw. With the illness during the DC, and his not to fit impression, not surprising that he withdrew. Hopefully he's the last of the top players to withdraw, it would be a shame if once again Richard, assembles an great entry list only to have them withdraw the week before the tournament

Funny situation about Ljubičić... This week he entered a challenger in South Africa, I believed more as a tourist than as a tennis pro. But he is still there, completing tomorrow his semifinals vs ToJo and eventually playing finals vs Koubek. Would he show up here at all? I guess it's a long trip from South Africa...
