Will Joe's Run in Adelaide come to a halt in the quarter finals or will he do better?
Aussie Joe Cheering Threadchristopherhello 01-04-2008, 01:39 AM Will Joe's Run in Adelaide come to a halt in the quarter finals or will he do better? Matchu 01-04-2008, 05:00 AM Well we'll find out in about half an hour, I really hope he beat PHM then they would have to give him that last Wildcard surely. OZTENNIS 01-04-2008, 09:01 PM Well Joe is into the semi finals after beating Mathieu 1-6 6-1 7-6(6). He got special exempt to play Sydney main draw directly...along with Hewitt, Luczak, Guccione and Greg Jones. He has already been given an AO Wildcard Matchu 01-04-2008, 09:55 PM Well Joe is into the semi finals after beating Mathieu 1-6 6-1 7-6(6). He got special exempt to play Sydney main draw directly...along with Hewitt, Luczak, Guccione and Greg Jones. He has already been given an AO Wildcard It's really all working out for Joe, I've been making estimations of where his ranking will go to after this week and if he wins Adelaide 111, Runner up 132, Semifinalist 148. I hope him well in Sydney and the Australian Open, at this rate he may even get direct entry into Indian Wells and Miami. Who knows he might even get chosen for Davis Cup. Kristen 01-23-2008, 10:38 AM Main Draw, Sydney, 2008. vs Steve Darcis [Qualifier] of Belgium. Matchu 03-02-2008, 11:00 AM This is the only place I could find to post Joe results, Joe's gone through qualifying in Dubai and has already gained 10 points this week which is great for his confidence seeing as he'll being playing Indian Wells qualies next week. Timbo 03-02-2008, 10:10 PM a first rd match up with Mathieu. Tough player, but can be quite inconsistent. Sirianni beat him in Adelaide, but I fear he'll be too good here. tennisrulz92 03-03-2008, 05:26 AM Qualifying in Dubai great achievement. Hope he wins against Mathieu scotthongkong 03-04-2008, 11:57 AM Go go Joe! Winnable match imo. I reckon he could climb very quickly with some sensible tournament choices such as this one! chris.hello92 03-11-2008, 10:29 AM Pacific Life Open- Joseph Sirianni (AUS,WR:156) vs Rainer Schuettler (GER, WR:80) azza 03-22-2008, 11:47 AM Joe lost 6-4 6-2 hes not in Miami quallie entry list having a break i reckon scotthongkong 03-29-2008, 08:32 AM I would like to see Joe win some matches very soon otherwise that Adelaide momentum will be lost. azza 04-08-2008, 07:23 PM after Adelaide hes hes like 2-7 chris.hello92 04-08-2008, 10:53 PM It is surely dissapointing to see him not keep up his Adelaide form TankingTheSet 04-09-2008, 11:13 PM He's definitely back to his "old" self, maybe even worse. Matchu 05-20-2008, 01:18 PM Joe's won his first round RG quali match against Denis Istomin the number 29 seed 6-3 6-3. Hes got Jean-Rene Lisnard, maybe he'll qualify... TankingTheSet 05-20-2008, 08:27 PM He probably would have beaten Smeets 6-3 6-2 in an imaginary play-off for the RG wildcard. OZTENNIS 05-20-2008, 09:57 PM Very impressive, but we can't get ahead of ourselves azza 05-21-2008, 02:09 AM ZOMG Joe wins a match  lol i dont care if he loses Q2 omg he won a match like finally!! Onto Wimbledon! aussie_fan 05-21-2008, 11:57 AM Joe's won his first round RG quali match against Denis Istomin the number 29 seed 6-3 6-3. Hes got Jean-Rene Lisnard, maybe he'll qualify... considering the form he is in been lately, don't get too ahead of ourselves, good luck tonight, i would be very surprised if he pulls off another win. azza 05-26-2008, 08:00 AM he lost 3-6 6-1 8-10 scotthongkong 06-01-2008, 04:02 AM Finding some form at last! azza 06-01-2008, 06:18 AM Yep he made a QF of a challenger losing 63 64 to number 1 seed Gabashvilli and his in the final of the doubles :) scotthongkong 06-02-2008, 12:50 PM Keep it up Joe! jmf0704 06-02-2008, 01:38 PM He has got a nice draw for the furth challenger. If he can hold his form he should be looking at a quater final at least. TankingTheSet 06-08-2008, 01:48 AM His match record on grass is not bad at all, which he proved today by winning two good matches in Queens qualifying, and I would make him favourite to win the final qualifying round. He beat Qureshi who is very dangerous on grass and focuses his whole season on it, good win. Matchu 06-08-2008, 03:13 AM His match record on grass is not bad at all, which he proved today by winning two good matches in Queens qualifying, and I would make him favourite to win the final qualifying round. He beat Qureshi who is very dangerous on grass and focuses his whole season on it, good win. I hope he does qualify, hes worked so hard for this season and sort of reaping the rewards, but I do feel for the guy. If he does qualify he'll either play Gonzalez, Safin, Karlovic or Grosjean not exactly the easiest first round opponents. Cant see him beating any of them actually... aussie_fan 06-08-2008, 05:10 AM Impressive effort to beat quershi, hope he qualifies TankingTheSet 06-08-2008, 12:46 PM I hope he does qualify, hes worked so hard for this season and sort of reaping the rewards, but I do feel for the guy. If he does qualify he'll either play Gonzalez, Safin, Karlovic or Grosjean not exactly the easiest first round opponents. Cant see him beating any of them actually... He qualified by beating Kubot 7-6(6) in the third set. I think Gonzalez, Safin, Karlovic or Grosjean are not the worst opponents, they have weaknesses which Sirianni may be able to exploit, although he will be the underdog. aussie_fan 06-08-2008, 12:48 PM Good he qualified, opponent he probably most wants would probably be grosjean but it's going to be tough either one he gets. Matchu 06-08-2008, 12:54 PM Good he qualified, opponent he probably most wants would probably be grosjean but it's going to be tough either one he gets. Sorry I made a mistake he will not draw Karlovic first round he could draw Bogdanovic (a British wildcard) then he'll play Karlovic if he gets through. I hope he gets drawn against Bogdanovic. But considering his luck he wont. By the way Christopherhello do you reckon you could change the name of this thread to something like Aussie Joe cheering thread or something because Adelaide is well and truly over, Adelaide is not coming back. Matchu 06-08-2008, 01:24 PM Well Joe's been given a gift and drawn against Bogdanovic, This could turn out to be a great week for Joe, potential 15 points. Does anyone else know if he has entered Nottingham for qualies as well? aussie_fan 06-08-2008, 02:07 PM Well Joe's been given a gift and drawn against Bogdanovic, This could turn out to be a great week for Joe, potential 15 points. Does anyone else know if he has entered Nottingham for qualies as well? i would say probably not considering he's got to play wimby qualies, and if he qualifies he won't be able to play so there would be no point Nice draw for sirianni, hope he can take that win. scotthongkong 06-09-2008, 11:52 AM I reckon that Joe is a confidence player and having three wins under his belt will really help him here. Be great to get a win for him going into the Big W. Straight sets win I am predicting. azza 06-09-2008, 06:58 PM Sirianni Def Bogdanovic 6-3 6-3 :):):) Yay! scotthongkong 06-12-2008, 12:19 PM Well done! There really is a god! scotthongkong 07-16-2008, 01:05 AM Nice to see Joe have a win overnight against Ledonsihk from Russia in indianapolis Admittedly the guy had to retire but in any case in these days of Aussie mens tennis we take whatever we can get! aussie_fan 07-16-2008, 01:13 AM With the way chris is playing, we will take anything we can get, hopefully he can give the second round opponent a good scare. EDIT: He's playing Capdeville, Joe might be a shot here actually. Hope he can win, chance here. scotthongkong 07-16-2008, 01:39 AM Wouldn't it be great if he could get another win up his sleeve? He does play better I think with matches under his belt. OZTENNIS 07-16-2008, 07:41 AM Good good good :) I think he should crack the top 150 with his results this week, if not he will be very close! azza 07-16-2008, 09:21 AM Joe is defenitly a form player if he gets a couple of wins in a row his confidnece soars so far this week heres heard the phrase " Game Set and Match Sirianni " 3 times he must be ecstatic :) OZTENNIS 07-16-2008, 09:50 PM Unfortunately he lost to Paul Capdeville 6-3 6-4. Still, congratulations on a good week :) Anyone know what his schedule looks like leading up to the US Open? Matchu 07-17-2008, 02:52 PM Anyone know what his schedule looks like leading up to the US Open? Yes Joe will travel back to Europe and play in a clay court San Marino challenger thats worth 85K, and then I believe a week off and then to Spain to play a 90K challenger. So big chances to earn lots of points in Europe coming up. He would have to go to the US not long after the Spain challenger because the US qualifying starts not long after. scotthongkong 07-17-2008, 11:36 PM Good luck to him and lets hope the good form continues as heaven only knows that we need to see someone playing well at the moment! azza 09-17-2008, 10:40 AM Well.. after an abismal couple of months Waco $50,000 R1 Joe Sirianni Def Jon Marray 7-6(3) 6-1 R1 Sirianni/Boronov Def Bucko/Rux 6-1 6-4 some much needed wins finally from Joe save ausdecline 09-17-2008, 12:46 PM Best chance for Joe to make it to the final according to the draw and rankings scotthongkong 09-17-2008, 12:47 PM Well done Joe! It would be good to see a repeat of the 2008 AUS OPEN when he had that thriller match against Janko Tipsarevic in the first round, but instead of losing maybe a win would be good, i thought TA made a mistake choosing him over Smeets but maybe they made a good decision we will see tomorrow good luck hope he wins easily. The guy is incredible, reaching his career high at 33 years old and being in the top 600 or so since 1997. Hewitt =Legend 01-15-2010, 09:25 AM Great fighting from Joe, show the kids how to do it! Good luck against Dodig which is a great 3rd round qualifying draw. MissChaChaCha 01-15-2010, 12:22 PM http://www.australianopen.com/images/pics/large/b_sirianni_15_01.jpg Good Luck to Joe for his last round ! :rocker: StatRacket 01-16-2010, 02:06 AM Just like at Wimbledon last year Sirianni lost in the final round of qualifying :(. Ivan Dodig d. Sirianni 7-6 6-2 to reach his first Grand Slam main draw at age 25. jmf07 01-16-2010, 03:49 AM Had a very good chance to take out the first set. Dodig isn't a bad player to lose to and Joe wasn't expected to win today but it is disappointing that he lost. Would have been a great story if he had. jmf07 02-02-2010, 12:19 AM Joe gets past the first round at Burnie with a convincing straight sets win over Ebelthite. azza 02-02-2010, 04:15 AM thats great for Joe still plugging away :) StatRacket 02-03-2010, 11:38 AM Into the quarters! 6-2 6-4. Has a nice draw against Canadian Duclos (the seeds have been eliminated for him so far). Getta 02-03-2010, 10:32 PM beating Duclos to make it through to the semis, wouldn't that be nice? azza 02-03-2010, 11:34 PM good to see him still playin =) StatRacket 02-05-2010, 04:50 AM beating Duclos to make it through to the semis, wouldn't that be nice? Done! 7-6(1) 6-3. Nice tiebreak from the 35 year old. Tough semi against either Tomic or Zemlja(1). If he plays Tomic he'll be more than twice the age of his opponent! Audacity 02-05-2010, 04:59 AM Joe is an awesome role model for the younger players. DartMarcus 02-09-2010, 08:05 AM Bad he lost but still a great week! :D Where does he play next? Hewitt =Legend 02-17-2010, 11:31 PM Joe is going to play the Kyoto challenger in Japan from March 8. jmf07 04-28-2010, 02:35 AM Joe got through the first round of the Manta challenger against Ecuadorian wildcard Diego Acosta. No surprises there. Plays Greg in the second round. Would be nice to see him go on a bit of a run here and try and get near the mark for Wimbledon Qualies. Last year the cutoff was 276. Joe at the moment is 325 and 37 points off that and only has two weeks to do it. Might seem unlikely (needs to reach the final or make the semis here and back it up next week) but how many times has he been written off before only to surprise and the draw on his half is quite weak. jmf07 04-29-2010, 02:13 AM Joe defeated Jones 16 75 76 :worship:. Next up is Ryler Deheart. Good luck Joe. StatRacket 04-29-2010, 02:56 AM Joe defeated Jones 16 75 76 :worship:. Next up is Ryler Deheart. Good luck Joe. Excellent! jmf07 04-30-2010, 06:14 AM Joe lost a close one to Deheart. 46 62 46. jmf07 05-06-2010, 01:31 AM :worship: Sirianni pulls off another upset defeating Dent 46 63 62. StatRacket 05-06-2010, 03:33 AM :worship: Sirianni pulls off another upset defeating Dent 46 63 62. Very impressive win against the no.1 seed in Savannah, USA. StatRacket 05-07-2010, 01:32 AM Joseph makes back-to-back Challenger quarter-finals by taking out Jose Statham 7-6(5) 6-3. Next up Paul Capdeville. Rae777 05-07-2010, 11:11 PM Joe is into the semis - Capdeville retired at 6-5 StatRacket 05-08-2010, 12:18 AM Plays Kei Nishikori. C'mon Joe! jmf07 05-08-2010, 01:27 AM What a player. Nishikori will be a tough one. StatRacket 05-08-2010, 11:37 PM Nishikori d. Sirianni 6-1 6-1. Kei's obviously playing at a much higher level than his low ranking suggests (low due to injury). Still a great for fortnight for Joseph. jmf07 05-09-2010, 12:25 AM Great week for him. Given the points on offer he should be able to play Wimbledon Qualies now which is an outstanding effort considering his position two weeks ago. Not the best way to end the week but Nishikori is a super talented player and hopefully his body can stay together and he won't be playing challengers for much longer as it would be a shame to see such a talented Japanese tennis player go to waste. StatRacket 05-10-2010, 02:06 AM Sirianni gets a special exempt for Sarasota Challenger and plays Donald Young in round one. Winner to play Guccione or Satschko. Audacity 05-12-2010, 09:03 AM Sirianni won 6-4 6-4. Now plays qualifier Daniel Garza. jmf07 05-12-2010, 09:14 AM Awesome result. One would think he should beat Garza as well. Hewitt2010 05-12-2010, 11:16 AM Yes very much so i tipped him to win and im not surprised, there was so much hipe about Young a couple of years ago now his showing what his really like. But i love watching the older blokes winning like Sirianni, Luczak and Hewitt. Just hope the poo can come back. jmf07 05-13-2010, 01:35 AM Joe had a surprise 63 76 loss. jmf07 06-01-2010, 07:40 AM Joe drew the first seed Florian Mayer in Furth. Will be tough for him to progress. StatRacket 06-01-2010, 09:50 AM Joe drew the first seed Florian Mayer in Furth. Will be tough for him to progress. World number 51 on his home turf, it doesn't get much tougher than that in the first round of a Challenger. Hewitt2010 06-01-2010, 11:38 AM Yeah true good luck though Joe hope you can atleast test him. RustyOz 06-01-2010, 10:48 PM Test Mayer he did but unfortunately Joe went down in three Hewitt2010 06-01-2010, 11:21 PM Yeah i was watching the live scoring and i thought he was going to get a huge upset win but he didn't in the end but atleast he did take a set off Mayer, good luck where ever he plays next. jmf07 06-02-2010, 03:44 AM Good effort Joe. Encouraging signs ahead of the grasscourt season. He is on the alt list for all 4 tournaments next week so it will be interesting to see where he goes. Halle qualies would probably be the best option for him. Hewitt2010 06-02-2010, 03:55 AM Yeah didn't Joe qualify there last year then lose to Mischa Zverev first round? Also jmf07 do you really like soccer and did you watch the match vs Denmark? jmf07 06-02-2010, 04:17 AM Yeah I like most sports but tennis, cycling, motor sport (Formula 1 and IRL)and football (soccer - socceroos and Middlesbrough) would be my favourites. Unfortunately I don't have Foxtel anymore and had to watch the live commentary/scoring instead and couldn't get a stream to work. Good that they won but hard to get a read off it being a friendly. Even harder when you hear conflicting reports like Australia played well/shit or Wilkshire was brilliant/normal or Holman was good/bad. Did you watch it? Hewitt2010 06-02-2010, 05:02 AM Nah i dont have foxtel either, its crap but the world cup will be telecast on SBS like Germany wont it? I think we will atleast make the knock out stage good luck boys, also sorry about talking about this in Joe's thread. What state in AUS you from im from SA. The best state. jmf07 06-02-2010, 06:02 AM Yeah the World Cup is on the anti-siphoning list so it has to be on Free to Air TV so it will be on SBS. I live in probably Australia's most overrated place the Gold Coast. The only things we have are good beaches, a trainline to Brisbane and hot women although unfortunately a fair few of them of them seem to love visiting the plastic surgeon and getting their annual dose of silicon. SA seems to be a nice place. Only visited Adelaide and Kangaroo Island but they were enjoyable. Hewitt2010 06-02-2010, 06:56 AM Oh ok then, yeah i've been up to Brisbane a couple of times. jmf07 09-25-2010, 11:28 AM Joe is playing qualies in the Kuala Lumpur ATP tournament where he is into the final round after benefiting from a bye in the first round and then defeated doubles specialist Johan Brunstrom in the second round 64 64. He will take on Laurent Recouderc for a spot in the MD. Audacity 09-25-2010, 12:41 PM It would be nice to see Joe make the maindraw here. RustyOz 09-26-2010, 09:13 AM Good luck Jo. Ride your luck mate. jmf07 09-26-2010, 02:44 PM Unfortunately Joe gets beaten soundly in straight sets. Audacity 09-26-2010, 05:18 PM Yeah unfortunate result for Joe. Keep on fighting mate :yeah: scotthongkong 12-11-2010, 08:44 AM Has Joe retired? Any clues anyone? Hewitt =Legend 12-11-2010, 08:53 AM I'm not sure if he plans to go around again for another year and obviously TA didn't put him in the wildcard playoff and I don't reckon they'll give him a qualies wildcard either. Depends if he's up for another year grinding it out on the tour - if the passion is still there he'll go for it. jmf07 01-29-2011, 04:12 AM :bounce: Joe is playing the Qualies in Burnie and won his first match against Ben Wagland 64 64. Next up is the winner of Nima Roshan vs Patrick Davidson. RustyOz 01-30-2011, 09:57 PM Joe went down to Nima Rashan, which was a surprise jmf07 04-12-2011, 03:34 AM Despite losing in the final round of the qualies for Tallahassee Joe has got into the MD as a lucky loser where he will now play Michael McClune. jmf07 04-13-2011, 01:03 AM Joe lost 64 61. Hopefully this won't be one of the last times we see him in a Challenger Main Draw although the recent form suggests it might be. jmf07 11-06-2011, 09:23 AM In the Qualies draw of the Ortisei Challenger. He won his first match against Leonardo Gianfilippi 6-2 6-2. RustyOz 11-06-2011, 07:47 PM Unfortunately Jo could not back it up and went down to Marcel Zimmermann 36 46 in the next round. Where to now for Jo? Going around for another year? Chris. 11-06-2011, 09:23 PM Cant belive he is still playing  ozfan44 11-07-2011, 04:45 AM Yeah i thought he had retired! jmf07 11-08-2011, 02:54 PM Nıce to see hım playıng agaın. It will be ınterestıng to see what happens. Chilenaitor 01-08-2012, 05:17 PM he retired?? | |
