You are mistaken. He has a nice game to watch. Besides, people usually embrace Cinderella stories in sports.

Ale, please grow up. Some of us who actually like and appreciate Coria on here do not appreciate you bringing negative attention on him like this.

Gaudio has his name on the Roland Garros trophy and always will. Deal with it.

Well I really liked what I saw. I hadn't seen him play before the final so all I knew about him was that he chokes a lot. Well I was thrilled to see such a figher, plus he has a nice game and shows his heart out there, which I love. So um... if there's something hidden to this thread and I'm missing it b/c I was gone, oops my bad :o

Bunk - this is a Coria fan who has spent the past several days throwing backhanded compliments at Gaudio. Hence the motivation for this thread. It's gotten *really* tiring. I really wanted Coria to win too, but I have nothing but good things to say about that match.

i didnt like his celebration when he won, all this hand waving/shaking stuff.........looked like a chicken who'd just got its head chopped off.

I have nothing against Gaston. Even less after he stopped Coria ;)

I didnt particularly like the way in which he semeed to dismiss Coria's injury as being almost irrelevant to the outcome - Im not trying to discredit Gaudio but Im 99.9% sure that Coria would have won that match if he hadn't have developed cramps.

Yeah, but maybe Coria would never have won the first two sets if Gaudio wasn't frozen by nerves until the third. Maybe Coria would have never had match points if Gaudio hadn't been frozen by nerves most of the fifth.

What if, what is. All that matters is the latter.

cos gato's been an underdog for ages , now he's won it , what more you can say

I read that Coria said he started to feel the cramps in the 3rd set, but for those who saw the match, could you see any such problems in the 3rd?

Gaudio has a pretty great game, and even if he was crippled with nerves for alot of the match, he survived 2 match points and overcame his problems in the end

Who here thinks that that will be the last we'll see of Gaudio anywhere near at least a quarters at a grand slam, and on the other side of the coin, who thinks that this is going to kill some of those nerves and help him to be a stronger competitor in the future?

Bottom line: we should just stop talking about this. IT IS OLD NEWS.

During the fifth set he was having the same smiles like a certain former wta player used to have. That annoyed me;)

Actually I didn't think anyone did dislike Gaston - except maybe for you Ale! He has got a lovely game (especially his backhand), he's a really sweet, modest guy - and he's really attractive too imo :)

So get over your bitterness Ale - I am a David fan, and you don't hear me whingeing about the fact that Gaston beat David in the semis - even though David was crippled by injury at the time. Gaston is a great guy and a worthy winner - good luck to him - hope he enjoys his success :)
