http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/7c/Vitaebella.jpg/200px-Vitaebella.jpg
almost forgot how much I LOVED it, pure brilliance in humour and tragedy

one of my favourite lines:

Giosué Orefice: "No Jews or Dogs Allowed." Why do all the shops say, "No Jews Allowed"?
Guido: Oh, that. "Not Allowed" signs are the latest trend! The other day, I was in a shop with my friend the kangaroo, but their sign said, "No Kangaroos Allowed," and I said to my friend, "Well, what can I do? They don't allow kangaroos."
Giosué Orefice: Why doesn't our shop have a "Not Allowed" sign?
Guido: Well, tomorrow, we'll put one up. We won't let in anything we don't like. What don't you like?
Giosué Orefice: Spiders.
Guido: Good. I don't like Visigoths. Tomorrow, we'll get sign: "No Spiders or Visigoths Allowed."

An Education
not really fond of the premise and how the plot went, it's similar to many other coming of age films, with protagonists learned from something they made bad decisions on.

but the cast are just great, esp. Mulligan and Alfred Molina. even Emma Thompson and Sally Hawkins are shining on their small roles.

v.v good

It's very cute indeed. Almost too sugarsweet.

I recently saw Fyra nyanser av brunt (Four Shades of Brown) for the first time since like three or four years. It's still very good. It's about four stories from Sweden showing everyday people as they live out their lives, and how they have to cope with dramatic changes. It has a dark, humourous and tragic tone to it.

Nobody Knows (Dare mo shiranai) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408664/

The reviews describe it as tragic and haunting and I concur. It was a beautiful film but evokes a numbing sadness.

Brokeback Mountain on tv, please don't laugh at me, I am always slow, I did not watch at cinemas when it was first shown 4 years ago :o

this film is so good and touching, it should have won the Best Picture in Oscars if those conservative judges did not show their injustice and narrow mind

as the film is not mainly about gay love, its about a pure love between 2 lonely souls which never dies, my favourite scene is where Jack and Ennis re-united after 4 years apart, I could not believe that two persons can still love each other so deep after not meeting each others for 4 years, they kissed with such passion, pulling each other's collar tightly as if they want to swallow the other one into their body :hearts::bigcry:

yes, i never understand why the judges of the Academay Award are so conservative as I think America is an open-minded country:confused: I don't know why they don't accept these 2 men who love each other so deep, while on the other hand we see every day the poor moral standard of many people who sleep around with others

Many voters probably decided to split by picking Lee for Direction and Crash for film in order to vote for both controversial topics adressed in the two movies. The academy was never that fond of love stories. What probably also played a role was that it was an incredibly strong year for Best Picture. Brokeback Mountain, Crash, Munich, GNaGL, Capote are all wonderful movies. So I guess there was quite some spreading. But it's all only looking for an explanation with BBM being the clear favourite. Glad you liked the movie so much, it's definitely a good one.:wavey:

thanks Tom for your explanation, you are a movie expert:worship:

but if my memory is correct, didn't "Titanic" won the best picture? Its also a love story and is no match with Brokeback Mountain coz the film relied on computer technology/glamourous settings etc to make the film watchable, the "love" between Jack and Rose is artificial

12 monkeys - simply amazing, the best role by Bred Pitt in his entire career 10/10
Leon - masterpiece by Luc Besson, great actor play by Reno, Portman and especially Gary Oldman 10/10
Clash of the titans - very average movie, did not impress at all, trailer was overally better than the whole movie, still some great special effects and beautiful actress 6/10
She is out of my league - very funny film, the girl is so beautiful, 7/10
Bounty Hunter - a couple of funny moments and that's it 6/10
Dorian Grey (with Ben Barnes)- a bit boring most of the time, still based on a legendary novel 6/10
