I've seen 3 in the last week. Meet Joe Black, The Breakfast Club and Lost In Translation. All 3 are very good IMO

I thought Lost in Translation was dreadful and was convinced that the critics were pandering to the Coppola family. This opinion was reinforced when Bill Murray made later similarly droll movies and the critics laughed at him.

The next movie to be a huge disappointment for me was ""Once.'' I have no idea what people saw in that 2 hours of boredom.

The Last Movie that I saw:

The Downfall, simply brilliant :worship: What a breathtaking performance of Bruno Ganz.
"Der Untergang" is definitely one of the best war movies of all time.

This is another perfect example of what a joke the Oscars has become. How Bruno Ganz wasn't nominated for best actor is beyond me. His performance rivals that of the some of the Hollywood greats. And the movie was nominated but didn't win best film in a foreign language.

They showed it recently here on German TV. First time I saw it without English subtitles and it only made me appreciate it even more.

Sabai dee Luang Phabang ( Good morning Luang Prabang)
First commercial film with big budget from Laos. The male lead, Australian- Lao actor, Ananda Everingham, is big star in Thailand. The film has a very simple road movie/ love story theme. However, the photography is gorgeous. If you haven't been to Laos, I suggest you try and watch this movie if it comes in yourarea or alternatively watch the dvd. Laos has one of the most stunningly beautiful landscapes, and the people are so, so wonderful. It was bombed mercilessly by the war criminals Nixon and Kissinger. People still die and get maimed by the bombs that were dropped there more than thirty years ago.

Not too bad given the fact that Shyamalan has been on a bad movie streak of recent.

Hancock: Saw it on a whim and it was very average indeed. Some fun moments for sure with the special effects but the plot was mediocre and there was a huge jump in story line midway through which lost a lot of the flow.

Adulthood: I only went to see this because someone I know was in it. It was fun to watch him act and a reasoable film. If not ground breaking it was still good to hear all the "youth" language overplayed to the extreme.

I enjoyed Blood Diamond as well, which was quite surprising because I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. I read some reviews and it didn't seem like the type of movie that would interest me. I've never really thought anything of films of that nature in the past but was mildly surprised when it finished. Don't know if it's because I'm getting older and actually enjoy movies that require some level of thought :)

I also watched a TV Movie adaptation of the Stephen King novel "Desperation" and it was pants compared to the book. I stil think "IT" or the "The Stand" is his best adaptation. Pennywise FTW!
