Wimbledon Wildcards.

I have just read a report on the BBC website saying that Delgado has failed to get a Wimbledon wilcard. Since there are 8 on offer, how on earth have we filled 8 places without him?!!!! Here is the possible list: -

01 - Goran Ivanisevic
02 - Arvind Parmar (not in top 150 though)
03 - Jonathan Marray (well-deserved)
04 - Alex Bogdanovic (won't be in top 300 on Monday)
05 - Alan Mackin (top 300 but why do we bother?!!)
06 - Greg Rusedski (please somebody help him!!)
07 - Lee Childs (please draw Davydenko again!!!)
08 - ?

What about the other 1? Is it reserved for Delgado in case he beats Marray on Wednesday? Should he do that then he will just get in the top 300 i think.
It can't be reserved for Andrew Murray because he is still injured.

Anybody got any ideas what the LTA are playing at? Alternatively, wo do you think should get the final WC?

Anybody that doen't pay much interest in British tennis may have problem answering this question i think!

I'm not too convinced Alex will get a wildcard this year. Mark Petchey is one of the guys dishing them out and unless he and Bogdanovic have kissed and made up recently...

Mackin is hated by the LTA and the LTA hate him...maybe he hasn't got one. Then where did the other 3 go?!!! Oh crap - how stupid i am - 2 are reserved for the WC play-offs aren't they! That means that maybe Bogo hasn't got one yeah.

Maybe they will give it to an Aussie. Didn't they have a deal in place?

They should give one to Simon "Great For Three Games" Larose.

No deal for the men as far as i know - what i do know is that if we gave the Aussies a male WC then they sure didn't give us one! :) I think it is the women who do the reciprocal agreement thingy. :)

The French Open and Australian open have a deal where they give wildcards to each other in the tourneys... didn't know anything about wimby and aust though.

I'm sure Daniel Nestor could still kick (___|___) on grass ;)

What has happened to Martin Lee by the way?!? Where is he?

Well, yeah - i don't suppose you'd want him at the moment! Even Arvind can play better than him at the mo. :)

Lee hasn't played any tour events at all this year and is only concentrating on county stuff. He did try to qualify for Queen's Club but to avail as he failed to win a match. I think he might try to get a Wimbledon WC through the play-off system...but he been injured virtually non-stop for 20 months. First the knee op and then a nasty groin injury. :tears:

Martin - come back!! :bigcry: :bigcry:

Greg nor Goran deserve one.

I think Thomas Johansson is a good idea, but they won't give him one.

He gets in by protected ranking i think, along with Haas and Canas.

Cañas no longer uses protected ranking.
