Gaudio didnt wint Coria lost...

I think that what bothers me most is that the match was lost by Coria not being able to close a final against someone like Gaudio who would have lost against any other top 5 in a Grand Slam final. And he (Coria) doesnt seem to know how to lose. Nalbandian had problems against Gaudio but he didnt make it a big deal.

Okay, much has been said about Coria and Gaudio for the last 24 hours, positive and negative. Now I think we can leave them alone.

Gaudio is not the person who can win the french open. Its sad that Coria lost the match.

* If you watched the match in it's entirety you could say BOTH GAUDIO & CORIA DESERVED to be RG 04 CHAMPION!!!
However as we all know only one guy gets his name on the trophy>_<..

What Gaudio managed to do during the entire 2-weeks was phenomenal: wins 5-setters over Canas, Novak, then tough 4-sets against Enquist, then demolishes Andreev, Hewitt, Nalbandian, & finally manages to defeat Coria after struggling with nerves & a 2-set deficit!

Coria deserves the title because he has clearly been the best clay-court player in the last 12months!! Something like 47/50 matches he's won on Clay dating back to Hamburg last year! Also Coria played exquisite tennis at RG this year; especially straight sets win over Moya was superb & comeback against Henman took courage.
-->>>> Of course it's never easy having the pressure of being "favourite" because anything less than winning the Title will be considered a 'failure'>_<. Coria managed a huge lead 6-0,6-3,4-4(40/love).. BUT Gaudio wouldn't concede!!!

We know Coria will get another chanc; probably next year & then the year after etc.. The problem is he will face increasing pressure because of this loss>_<. What he needs is a a way to calm down & accept what happened; which he seems to be doing in his remarkable post-match interview. ON the upside I'm sure the fans at RG & other Slams will give him a lot more support in the future-->>> so that positive energy will hopefully get him over the line when his chance comes again.

PS~ hope Coria doesn't have to wait as long as Ivanisavic did to taste that elusive victory in his favourite Slam..

YEY! GAUDIO WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coria's loss brings back bad memories to me. It is very reminiscent of FO final between Medvedev and Agassi. In that match I wanted Andrei to win really bad, but he blew the 2-0 set lead just like Coria!:(

Ale, you are right. Coria did lose...that's because Gaudio WON. One winner, and one loser.

I don't like Coria, but I have to agree. HE LOST.
Gaudio is a rightful and deserving champ though...

06-07-2004, 08:32 PM
You make a thread to let people rub it in to you? This is very wise.
Look, Gaudio is holding the Cup.

06-07-2004, 08:43 PM
If Gudio is the champion is because he deserve it, and because he won the match!!!! That´s the simple true!!!!

06-07-2004, 10:07 PM
Oh come on just let it go... Is this gonna change anything? No. Coria (unfortunately) lost, and there's nothing we can do about it. This just makes it worse for the people that wanted Coria to win.

But I do agree with you... i think Coria lost the match.

Yeah i guess it was more that Coria lost but what a phenomenal effort from Gaston to claw himself back and eventually win against the best clay court player in the world. He should be congratulated for his win not criticised.

Gaston won , genious :retard:

Great win by Gaudio and whose fault was it that Coria cramped? By the way cramp is not an injury.

Coria is a fine player, but Ale give it up no matter the amount of whining that goes on 2004 and Roland Garros Champion don't go in the same sentence as Coria.
