I come on here after Gaston and Guillermo's amazing RG match and i see a "Did Gaston deserve the RG title?" poll, a topic saying that Coria was faking cramps, a thread that pretty much says that Gaudio thought Coria was fakin cramps, a thread which asks if Coria is over rated and then of course the numerous Coria haters threads.

This is ridiculous, this board is turning into a bunch of bitches! All everyone does is bitch and slag and be disrespectful. Personally, im sick of it, what happened to people being positive?

Today was an amazing match, a great day for tennis, and all some people can do is find the worst in it

Thank you, frooty. It seems that people are starting to justify Coria's loss by citing cramps and mental anxiety, whatever. Coria lost, plain and simple. The match was his for the taking.
Everyone who was anyone in the sport, proclaimed Coria the 2004 winner. Too bad Coria did not live up to the hype....

Exactly my thoughts, and exactly what I had to say on another board after the match.

This match is one that I'll never forget. I was on the edge of my seat the entire fifth set, and when it was all over, I cried for both of them. As a sports fan, it's the most amazing feeling I've had, bar none.

Then I come here and read the juvenile comments that people have to share and it's just really dissapointing.

People can't just enjoy what happened, they have to slag off Coria some more, or discredit Gaudio's phenomenal run. It's sad, and it takes the fun out of posting altogether when people act like that.

I agree with everything said in this thread. I came on here after the match to discuss a great final, only to discover a lot of hatred. In the end I decided to just go away and do something else instead, then I came back only to find it still going on.

Credit to both players.

And why the fuck is Roddick even up for discussion on this thread. Just so you'd know, he lost in the second round to a qualie whom he had a two sets to one lead over. So, go back to your Duck Hut and think once again about what you just said.
Bye, bye now....

I'm pretty new around here so I try not to rile people but I have to agree that some ppl appear to be obsessed with certain topics.
So far as today's match went it was everything a GS final should be! Stop trying to justify Coria's loss!

Don't bitch about Coria fans trying to justify anything when there were just as many posters throwing fake injury accusations, calling coria overrated and all that stuff. Hence, Frooty's message.

What other "complicit half"? The ones who were appalled at Coria's actions during that fourth set, or the disappointed aficionados who gasped when they had to witness Gaudio lift up a trophy that had Coria's name written all over it?

The other complicit half implied in Frooty's headlining post. I suggest you read it again in case you missed it the first time. You were clearly only bitching about coria fans in your post and I just thought it was ironic considering the thread.

OK, fine. But it just takes away from Gaudio's win, no matter what...And, just so you'd know, his fans weren't the only ones I was bitchin' at, thank you very much...

Perhaps in a thread that is calling for people to stop being bitchy, it is best not to be "bitchin'" about or at anyone.

I agree with this thread. Although, I must admit that the frustration of not seeing Coria lift the trophy due to an injury set up some strange emotions in me. It was a bizarre final with ingredients that had nothing to do with tennis and a past of problems between this two guys. God works in mysterious ways and I hope I can learn from this. Congratulations Gaudio - Go Guillermo - Go Henman - Go David - Go TENNIS GO!!

I think either way, the result was great and both were poised to win. However, there were a few unfortunate circumstances and what this really was, was a lesson learned for both of them, especially Coria who is very young and will win, trust me. This is a positive thing.

I thought that's what messageboard is there for. ;)

We all bitch on some occasions.

When it's a occasion we enjoyed, it's frustrating to log in on the internet after and read the negativity (US Open 03 for me, thanks). But it's life, we're all different, we interpret events in a different way.

So you don't want people to express their opinions or feelings? If you think someone is being truly moronic, shove them on your ignore lists.... and keep going until only "true" fans of the people you like are visible to you. I think you'll soon get bored with the perfect world though. :D

Anyone who achieves relative success is certain to pick up plenty of haters along the way. El Mago has been truly awesome on clay, practically unbeatable in fact, so now he has these serial critics it shows he's reaching the top of the game. Same as Andy Roddick is hammered, as was Lleyton Hewitt before him, Pete Sampras and so on.

Today's game was one of the most bizarre Grand Slam finals I've ever witnessed. I was very suspicious of Guillermo to be honest. So much so in fact, that I found myself desperate for Gaston to win that deciding set after everything that went on. If he really did tank that fourth set, he paid the ultimate price in the end and made the all-time dumb move. There's no guarantee he'll ever get another opportunity to win a Grand Slam title afterall.

The match was exciting too of course, but even now I'm still not sure what the hell happened out there. :) I can totally understand people questioning the amazing turnaround and the events that transpired. So as much as you believe it was a fair, cleanly contested exciting battle of Argentina, other people are entitled to take on alternative views. Those who believe the opposite about today love the sport of tennis, if they think he was screwing around with the sport they love, then he's not going to have their admiration or sympathy. Is he? :)

It is weird how those stupid cramps - brough all that negative energy back - that bad energy between them in Hamburg was like... OH YES...LOOK AT CORIA THERE HE GOES AGAIN....CRAMPS YEAH CRAMPS.. SURE..FAKING SOMETHING AGAIN....

So, for the world of karma if he ever did something wrong he really paid a high price: A GRAND SLAM TITTLE. But if he didnt do anything wrong in the past, life is what it is: not fair sometimes.

But only something really good is going to come out of this. I think people will start to appreciate Coria and see him under a different light. I can only hope.

I really, really, really (to the nth degree) like professional tennis. I like all of the players because they provide me with examples of breathtaking artistry, athleticism, and competitive matches on more occasions than not. I have a favorite player. But, I'm not rabid for him. I want to be able to come here and commune with like minded people. There have been a lot of differing opinions about today's final. I respect that. But, if you post that you love player X and hate the air that player Y breathes one time, that should be enough. I don't have a problem with liking two players in a match and congratulating both on doing the best they could on that day.
