Congratulations Gaston! You have proven all you're critics wrong and instead of hearing critics: *listens* we're hearing crickets!!! :p I had a song for you but I forgot it :( Oh well, Go Gaston!!!

I thought the champion should be whoever wins match point.

Congrats Gaston! Your win has made my day, no week, no month. :D I was so shocked when I saw the highlights on ESPN that I shrieked and dropped the the floor laughing with pleasure. I would have preferred it if Fatty was the first of this Argentinian clan to win a Slam, but Gaston was always my second choice. Never again shall I understand Gaston in 5-setters, he is the new master of epic matches.

You're congratualting Gaston yet you're signature says otherwise. I say that shows a complete lack of respect.

Gaston is the rightful winner. Do you think that he should have just rolled over when he was down a break in the 5th? He fought back and it was Guille's fault that he didn't have another gear. Gaston wanted this title and he got it!!

Sorry, Guille's_girl. I know you wanted a nice thread but after reading hundreds of excuses right now this is the one that pissed me off.

I said in a previous thread that I lost a lot of respect for Guille today. He is still one of my favorites but I do think that he exaggerated his cramps a little bit because he knew that was the way into Gaston's head. And it almost worked. Don't hate Gaston for fighting back and being the one to play the bigger points better today.

Guille will win RG!! :D :D :D :D Probably next year even. But 2004 belonged to Gaston and we should be celebrating that.

Although I am very sad for Guille, I am happy for Gaston. He conquered one of his demons- his nerves- and deserved the win. It was so nice to see him laughing in the third and fifth sets- he finally seemed to be enjoying playing. I also loved his lap high-fiving the fans after his win and I thought that his speech when accepting the trophy was very sweet and very, very respectful of Coria. Perhaps this match will help the two become friendlier.

Well done GAUDIO!!!! :D

I know it's very frustating, sad, dessappointed for Coria and his fans as well but don't worry!! I mean, if you remember what happened with Juan Carlos Ferrero u'll going to agree with me. Ok, Ferrero was the fav. in 2002 and look what happened? He lost to his patriot Costa. But in the next year, he was back... recovered the mind, confidence etc etc and Juan won Rolanga in 2003. Also, pple said Guga's career was over, he felt the pression but he came there this year, won against Roggi, and came to quarters-final. For me, quite far for someone who couldn't play 'cause of injury. Coria for the first time was in RG final and he didn't get it... I dunno what was going on there.... if the prob was mentally, physically, both.... whatever, Coria will keeping fight for this title next year, not only in Rolanga, but other important tournie 'cause he's great in other courts, I believe he's gonna win Rolang Garros soon! ;)

see ya--> it's wierd what I've read on i-net... pple said like if Coria wanted to lose. the title was: "CORIA GAVE TITLE TO GAUDIO" I don't agree at all.. I think it just wasn't Coria's day... he was unlucky! yesterday, as Gaudio day and pple will swallow this!! HAHA! :o
