not too bad, a pretty good list after all

the four top guys should dominate here, then there's the defending champion Malisse, maybe he can have a good start to his comeback here

also some talented youngters like Cilic, Fognini, Haase, Montcourt, etc. in the mix

I'm surprised Koubek won't return to defend his finalist points...

I'm surprised Koubek won't return to defend his finalist points...

He likes to play in both there and in India and he was won Doha before, so he gets in there and took that opportunity.

That's understandable, more points and money on offer.

As a Canadian, I also wonder where is Dancevic. Maybe he will do the Sydney Medibank only before the AO.

whats the news on wildcards. has prakash recovered from his injury .is bopanna playing hopman this year. Somdev will get one surely i think. If not prakash and rohan then it will go to somdev and karan and probably one good top 30 player i think.

is bopanna playing hopman this year.

according to http://www.hopmancup.com.au/default.aspx?id=231 he will

Karan got two wildcards in last 3 years, so not unlikely it will be the same in 2008

First wild card has gone to winner of Mational grass court championships, Vishnu Vardhan. Prakash Amritraj is sure to get the 2nd wild card . ( If he is fit as it seems likely now.)
If there is any late top 50 players wants to enter third wild card may go to him . Otherwise 3rd wild card may go to Somdev Devvarman.

2 of the qualifying draw wild cards have been assured to Harsh Mankad & 15 year old Yuki Bhambri.

Chennai Open: Amritraj, Vardhan get wild cards

http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/showsports.aspx?id=SPOEN20070036852&ch=12/25/2007%2010:15:00%20AM

Top ranked Indian Prakash Amritraj and National Grass Court champion Vishnu Vardhan were among the three players given wild cards on Monday for the men's singles main draw of the Chennai Open tennis 2008.

Spain's Bartolome Salva Vidal was the other player to receive wild card for the December 31 - January 6 tournament to be played at the Nungambakkam Stadium, the organisers announced in Chennai.

Delhi's 13-year-old Yuki Bhambri, another promising youngster, was awarded the wild card for the qualifying rounds of the girls' category. The qualifying rounds will be held December 29 and 30.

"I am delighted to be given the opportunity to participate at Chennai Open 2008. I have always performed well at the tournament and it is one event that I look forward to as it is more of a home coming of sorts," said Prakash Amritraj, son of legendary Vijay Amritraj.

"Undoubtedly, this year's field is the toughest but I'm looking forward to give my best playing alongside (Rafel) Nadal, (Xavier) Malisse, (Marcos) Baghdatis, (Carlos) Moya, (Mikhail) Youzhny and others."

Prakash, 24, along with Rohan Bopanna, was the runner-up in the doubles category at the 2006 Chennai Open.

This time, Bopanna will not be seen as he would be representing India at the Hopman's Cup in Australia.

I'm happy for Salva-Vidal getting a WC (Merry Christmas from Rafa ). He came close last year in Chennai to getting his first tour win. I hope he does get that win, if not this tournament then soon. He's had some injury problems but he is a talented kid so I'd like to see his career move to the next level.
