Gaudio doesn't believe that he can win apparently. This is why the match is one-sided for now.Relax Gaudio.

Well Gaudio has got his name on the scoreboard now and i wouldn't be surprised if that does wonders for his confidence and will be the start of him racking up some more games...there again i wouldn't be surprised if that is the only game he wins in that set...

Folks in the UK: I'm really annoyed we don't have live coverage *again*. Why do the beeb insist on delaying the broadcast of the men's final? If Tim had been in it, it would have been altogether different.

JMac said that Gaston "Wasn't enjoying this at all" in the locker room, before he even got on court. Mary says Gaston knows he's out of his league. This is turning into the worst men's final of all time :o

I don't think that he is out of his league. If you go on court with the feeling that you can't win, you are going to lose.

The one thing you can say about this match over the women's final yesterday is that this match is being won because of one player's AWESOME play.

Yesterday? The winner was victorious because she merely didn't suck as much as the loser.

It's a difference that's favoring the men's final for me.

Tennis Fool
06-06-2004, 02:23 PM
JMac obviously a fan of Gaston more than Coria. Mary the opposite.

Ok, this match is better than the women final yesterday.

Tennis Fool

I disagree, Darn, Myskina won because of her mental toughness. She had to beat two GS winners. She was prepared and competitive. That's sometimes what makes a champion.

Shy, this match is only better because its three sets. If it were two, Gaston would have been out 6/0 6/3. Ugh.

Mary saying she never remembered a Slam where nerves played so much a part of the matches: From JHH, to Venus, to Dementieva to Gaudio.

Both men's and women's finals suck. Men's sucks more because the ratio of the quality of Gaudio's serve to Coria's is better than Dementieva's to Myskina's.

Eeeehhhhh. Coria is pretty hot today, but Gaudio is so off that it's making Coria look better than he is in comparison. This match is so one sided because Gaudio was off for two sets, and Coria knew enough to stay on his game and take advantage.

Now come on Gaudio. I'm not rooting for you, but make this a match please.

Today, Gaudio was the stronger player physically and mentally.

Guille had his chances and couldn't put the match away.

Kudos :aparty: to Gaudio. And  for Guille.

I do think there is such a thing as wanting something too much.

Shy

The tile of the thread was (is):
Coria leads 6-0...and you complain about the one-sided womens´ final?

And I can only laugh at it... ;)

Congrats to Gaudio! He kept his mentality up in the fifth set, despire questionable tactics from his opponent.
