According to Jonh Mac, Gaudio was very nervous , negative and didn't believe that he could win.

According to Jonh Mac, Gaudio was very nervous , negative and didn't believe that he could win.

Hopefully he starts doing better soon before its too late...

Common Gaudi atleast put up a fight...
Dont make this mens final as one sided as the womens final...

I dont remember the last time that somebody got bageled in a GS final...

Guess I feel grateful I can't see this match. What's the betting this will be the most one-sided final since McEnroe/Connors at Wimbledon in 1984?

Come on Gaston, shake a leg. Well, shake those nerves off, anyway.

Well, Mcenroe said that his body sign look worst than it was in the locker room. So, it is not a good news.

Gaudio's 25 ues vs 5 for Coria is not going to bring him anywhere with same number of 5 winners for both.

But he played a great last game to get his first point, hopefully that will give him some confident and belief.

I think Gaudio is finally starting to play better and is shaking the nervousness away... This should be a much closer match from this point on...

Hmm, strangely quiet here. It's like women's final, seems that most people are still sulking when their favourites were eliminated. :)

Dirk
06-06-2004, 03:42 PM
I think Coria will play through his pain as much as possible but I don't think its going to produce great tennis from him. I feel very sorry for him and Gaudio. Coria is in serious pain and Gaudio doesn't want to win the title in this manner.

aprillej26
06-06-2004, 03:42 PM

what i am really sad about is that Guillermo is the best player....and he left his heart in the court...despite of his cramps or whatever

Tricky_Forehand

I finally got in!!

OK, so I'll try to post again:

I lost a lot of respect for Guille today. A LOT.

That said:

I knew that Gaston would do it!!! I can't help but laugh a little at those who were telling me that I was being unrealistic for believing that Gaston would hold the trophy today. Even after he was down 2 sets to LOVE I never gave up on him. I guess this is where believing in someone's potential and abilities pay off. I hope this can happen for someone else that I support even stronger that Gaston, in the future.

Let's see how many smilies I can add

:aparty:  :yippee: :bounce: :woohoo: :yeah: :aparty:  :yippee:  :bounce: :woohoo: :aparty:  :yippee:  :bounce:

That oughta do it :D

oh guys, I know Im a 'bit' late, lol, but I never knew this forum untill like a month ago so I was just re-reading your comments and I got a few chills again seeing the emotions over here...but I just frankly don't understand one thing - how is one able to sit and write somethin here during such a match, espesially towards the end - I mean I was sitting in my bed watching the screen, all shivering like crazy not knowing that the world exists outside, lol!!....gosh, THAT WAS HUGE!!...those guys shortened our lives for sure;)...as a fan of GAto I really was on for him,he played so so great in the whole tournament, and he showed his real abilities to all those who didn't recognize him as a potential winner of a big one, hell I guess even he himself was one of them!....But the world saw that he can, that he's got it.Yet often I think that this win is so unbelievable, surprising rather with the time in which it came for Gaston than with the fact that it was Gaston, that I just can't help but think that it came because we, his fans so BADLY wanted him to do something big...Something justifying his potential..I knew I myself was longing for that, it was so sad to hear he was so unhappy on court, he was even ready to retire before that. On the other hand it was sad that Coria couldn't play properly, maybe he would have won it, maybe in 3,especially after Gato was being so nervous, losing 2 sets in no time, but that wouldn't have depreciated Gaston's achievment.I believe that his fans were a part of it, somehow.
And I hope that he'll come back next year not just to play, but to defend his title. No, to DEFEND his title!

:worship: :)
