Will Davydenko play Shanghai and DC Final?

I'm not sure if his current issues are his way of sticking 2 fingers up at the ATP or whether they're genuine, but either way I'm beginning to think he might take the rest of the year off.

Unless he gets them sorted, he could well be humiliated in Shanghai. Nadal might be his only chance of a decent score :o

I'd happily get humiliated in Shanghai if I was guaranteed a few hundred thousand dollars or whatever for my troubles. I'm sure Davy feels the same.

I wouldn't mind if he withdrew. He's not my favorite, and I would love to see Gasquet and Blake both qualify so with him not being there, they'd both have a better chance. But I do want him to play DC. With no Safin, I want Andy and James to have some competition.

I think he'll play but it'll be interesting to see what noises, if any, come out of the Davydenko camp in the next week or so. He looked quite distraught at times today.

After Federer, Nadal and Djokovic he's the best performer in Slams - and no matter what you think of him - Blake and Gasquet wouldn't qualify to tie his shoes, never mind a Masters Cup.

Shanghai, yes.

Davis Cup, no - not a strong DC player, and with all his personal issues, I doubt Tarpischev will want to chance him in a live match.

Did you see him today? He served 3 double faults in a game, not 1 of the 6 serves were anywhere close to going in. Shanghai is supposedly the top 8 players in the world, he could be humiliated. Maybe it's best to take some time off, it's not like he needs the money

what the hell is with the chair umpire scolding Davydenko for poor serving? That is way out of place. I can only imagine what some of the hot heads on tour would do in that situation, probably try to serve the umpire out of his seat.

It was obvious that something was wrong with Davydenko. He is one of the best players and it was sad to see this performance.

The reality that many don't want to consider is that he could really be innocent and if that's the case, this has to be a horrible time for him.

For a guy whos # 1 goal in tennis to make as much money as possible, it would be extremely stupid to suggest he wont go to Shanghai. Worst case scenerio for him is he gets absolutely ***** in all 3 matches but still walks away with $90,000. Not a bad week for him. Of course he will be there.

He will make more than $90,000 as he will also bet against himself.

Not sure many people would take that bet, I'm pretty sure everyone would bet against him against top 8 players right now.

Davydenko is a lot like Jankovic. They play too much and have some bad losses.
He belongs in Shanghai, he reached 2 slam semis.
