Yes, Mike McClune is a true American hope, especially if he never gets involved with a USTA coach. He has good people on his side, he hasn't been rushed, and I think he is developing the correct way. He seems to be a decent well rounded guy with a good head on his shoulders and I just love his serve. I am already a fan of his (which may not be good, I seem to be a jinx of some sort ;) ).

I saw both Mcclune and Young play.. to see who would have a chance to be America next hope... I feel that Mcclune didn't play that well today.. he was attacked many time to his backhand side and missed alot of shot when the ball was hit deep to his back hard side.. as for Young I feel that Young is a better player than Mcclune where Young has more variety in his shot and style of play. His serve and volley was pretty effective today. I think both Mcclune and Young are still too skinny, comparing to other players that I saw today.

How is it his home ground?

I would assume Young is not at his very best; he is still developing. Ram has not had a very good year, and Young has progressed greatly.

Nevertheless, the previous matches haven't exactly been lopsided, nor have most matches in the first round here in Champaign. The latter suggests that the surface is really fast, so a close match might well be likely. I still believe Young will win, but I hope Ram wins.

Ram, Delic, Wilson, and Anderson all went to University of Illinois. The first three played on the NCAA Championship team and it seems they are treated like returning heroes at this event each year. It is as close to a 'home tournament' as any of them will get. Same with Bobby Reynolds going back to Vanderbilt, or Fleishman playing in LA every summer.

This is Young's 4th final in his last six tournaments. He's owned Levine in their two recent meetings. On the other hand, Levine is riding a 12 match winning streak.

I want Levine to win but I hope Young won't grind him down (Levine played and won 12 matches in two weeks, he must be tired).

Good luck next week.

Seriously after playing and winning 13 matches in two weeks I think he deserves a break :wavey:
But he is in the draw again...

Somehow this worries me because at one point this summer he couldn't play two matches before retiring injured.

It is a concern, especially considering he is not the biggest or

strongest guy around....

He was ranked 354 two weeks ago, will be around 190 on Monday. He won't need to qualify for challengers again. And he'll probably get a few wildcards into ATP events.

I agree, but at the same time he has like no points to defend, so this is the time for him to get his ranking up as far as possible before the season ends. I mean, he will have plenty of time to rest. It's good for him that he can make the AO Qualies, presuming he will go there (as many players skip it). He might definitely make a mark next season!
