The quality of tennis on show from both players was far from brilliant it must be said, but I still enjoyed the match, and this is still an excellent result for Misha :).

Great result and Shanghai is not impossible for Youzhny and I think he is favourite to beat Haas if he is telling the truth about his accumulative fatigue.

Gonzalez has all but qualified, he needs 2 guys behind him to both make the final....that would mean none of Federer, Djokovic or Nadal reaching the final - not gonna happen.

He's fucking awful at the moment though, shocking match. Him and Nadal will be the 2 worst players at the TMC.

fucking gonzalez, this means boredo with his cakewalk draw should go through...

expected from Gonzalez btw, he has played like shit more often than not this year...

WTF pretender unmasked yet again. He will still qualify though.

Great recovery from Youzhny. Gonzalez is too predictable. His backhand is useless.

:haha: at Youzhny's attempted Sampras smash. The expression of his coach following that was priceless.

Typical performance of Gonzo in a match he needed to win.

Gonzo wtf!

I don't like you anyways but I like you alot better than Loszhny. Both guys suck really.

Anyways, Mik was funny at the end of the match telling the umpire "you're not bad" about his over rule of a Gonzalez forehand which was challenged revealing the ball was just a fraction of an inch out(Umpire's overrule was correct). lolz

Gonzo quit...not a fighter, just a hitter. But you guys already knew that.

Btw Gonzalez's backhand can be as boring as Boredo on his prime.

Gonzalez's Bercy curse strikes again :help:

I have to say it was expected, considering Feña always has mentality problems about deal with pressure when he NEEDS to win determinate match :o

great win for Mischa, hopefully a good indoor run like In Rotterdam this year

only bad thing about this win is that the chances of boredo in TMC are getting higher and higher

it would suck to have gonzalez in shanghai. his form is very poor.

Why is everyone so certain Boredo is going to qualify??? He still has to win at least two matches assuming Haas goes down to Youzhny...

Maybe he knows he is in Shanghai so was just conserving energy?

GonzoFed
10-30-2007, 07:41 PM
The scary part is that Gonzo is being overpowered by the opponent a lot and his second serve sucks lately. He is probably going to Shanghai anyway. In his current form, winning a match in TMC would be an amazing accomplishment.

Has there been a steeper decline in recent history as Gonzalez?
I don't know but I liked to watch his game and he has a personality but his game has become like Jello , completelly soft and predictable. I don't think he is getting old for the game so either he has let himself go and become lazy or there is something wrong with his inner self

However he must lose to Haas tomorrow.

Fluke? In what way was it luck? He completely blew Nadal and Haas off court to get to the final. Yes, it was a peak of form that he may well never even approach again so you could say it was unlikely and so it was but luck was not a factor.

Just shows that his Aus Open run was one of the biggest flukes in tennis history.

Fluke? come on.... he beated only top players in his run into the final...

Watch for example the runs of:
2002 Nalbandian at Wimbledon
2003 Schuettler at AO
2005 Puerta at RG

Just shows that his Aus Open run was one of the biggest flukes in tennis history.

Gonzo played *fantastic* during the AO, dispatching all-but-one player very easily, his place in the final there was fully deserved.

It's sad to see that his form since then seems to have gone out of the window. Perhaps that's what makes the difference between the real top players and all the others that manage to beat them once in a while - the real top players manage to maintain their level during a longer period.

feña in the past seasons has learned not to risk so much and to seize the chances.. but he is a real rollercoaster..

thats the key thing

There have always been players who couldn't refer to the success they once had. But it's way to early to write Fena off. Yes, he couldn't fulfill the expectations many had in him since his great performances last year in the indoor season and especially since his amazing run into the Australian Open final, but the general competition these days has become so even that many players can beat each other.

I really hope he and his team will continue to work hard and find a way out of the little crisis of the past months.

So sad that he lost early in Paris, but on the other hand I'm happy for Misha to go further into the tournament.
