I think that improves the Italian Stallion's indoor record to a stellar 3-18, right? Oh, it should be a cracker against Nadal in the next round....

Scoreline of the year. Getting Bagelled by Volandri is a delightful result for Melzer and should leave him with some fond memories in the off season.

Melzer is a real mug, we all knew that. It takes some doing to lose to Di Mauro and Volandri on hard courts.

match of the tournament, if not of the year

Volandri played a good match against Nadal in DC on clay, winning a set and fighting well in 2 others

I think Melzer was injured - he did take an injury timeout after the first set. He was constantly coming to the net off almost everything including shots that didn't seem like approach shots and he seemed a bit stiff when he was hitting his shots.

LMAO :rolls:
injured or not thats no excuse :o :o

even on one leg, any decent player would beat Dumbo indoors.

he´s always coming to the net on occasions where it doesn´t make any sense at all ... he`s really soo often attacking by playing the ball on the middle of the court!!! that´s a classic of him ...

but still it´s likely that he had an injury. he´s usually not taking fake medical timeouts ...

This is a result that Melzer will always denounce when describing his tennis career to his grandchildren, insisting that he was kidnapped and replaced by a clone just before the match.

Melzer the Brave battled his way through injury here and should be given a lot of credit for even finishing the match. In fact the intrepid Austrian obviously went straight to the treatment room after for some instense physiotherapy because he recovered to win his doubles match this evening partnering Todd Perry against Nadal and Lopez. The guy is nothing short of a hero and is a credit to the tour.

She's more attractive than Sharapova, who has always been overrated in the looks department, although I don't think that she is in the same class as either Kirilenko or Ivanovic.
