What Federer has to improve!

Obviously Federer has to improve parts of his game if he wants to stay number one.
Nadal has a record high points and also Djokovic isn´t too far avay. 200 points differecne in the race is nothing to stop improving on. (Last year yearend no.1 was settled a lot earlier)
So please vote what parts of game Federer need to improve.

I think the title should be what do Nadal, and Nole have to improve to steal that no 1.

I think what Federer should do to improve is to move forward when Nadal hits to his backhand on clay, and take the ball on the rise. I think he struggles hitting high topspin on his backhand.

Play more tournaments?

He only played two non-mandatory tourneys this year, both of which he won. He can surely scoop up a few more points by playing a few more events if things are getting tight. And a lot of the blame for his relatively low total is his run of poor form in March, when he went out early in both IW and Miami. Other than that, his results have still outshone everyone else.

Don't forget more ball bouncing.

some imitations should also do the trick.

preferably of the 2004-2007 federer.

Federer just needs to ignore the MTF twits.

he is the best player at the moment he doesnt have to improve its not like someone else out there is playing better then him so for him to stay no.1 he just needs to do the same thing he has done for the last 4 years. in the future he will probably just need to play more to keep his spot but not in the immediate future. 2008 will be another straight forward year

Get the fuck out of here, buffoon. I would recommend possibly finding another hobby, you know, perhaps nail collecting or something of that nature. Nails can be very friendly, especially when used to pierce things. Yes. You've read right, and no, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, and yes I am aware of the redundancy. Nails can be used as a primitive, yet modern and practical way to alleviate one's suffering. Maybe then and only then, would it possible for us all to live in perfect harmony here on MTF, without being subjected to such idiocy.

Anyway, if I must contribute something to this unneccessary thread: Roger could work on getting younger. You know, perhaps take a ride in a machine similar to the one that would be found in a Michael J. Fox movie. Who knows, maybe one of these days Roger will show up dressed as a mad scientist and amuse us all by unveiling one of his more 'recent' inventions. Some form of device which would prove useful in the age defying process ... or whatever the hell that should mean.

Attack the 2nd serve and serve with more speed just when he needs to. More dropshots would be appreciated on clay.

Get fatter like Nalbandian.

He can try not lose in the second and third round of three TMS events next year.

Oh, and he can try and win the French. That should also help with the ranking (and Tennis immortality, beside)

He has to lose more often? Dunno.

For mediocre players like Federer, the saturation point comes earlier. He is finished in a season or two.

Improve the backhand and stop running around it leaving space for the opponent to hit down the line backhands; Nalbandian has exposed this area many time.

Sometimes over attacks resulting in the unforced error going out of control.

Nalbandian has won 2 out of the last 10 matches. That backhand down the line works incredibly well ;)

Nalbandian has won 2 out of the last 10 matches.

It's always nice to see someone who remembers that.

fed's top spin backhand gets way too little clearance over the net. if you watch wimby especially, he dumps so many backhand into the net.

sure he can come up with good backhand shots, but that's because of this low clearance.

someone like haas or wawrinka has a better BH.
