Has Federer won 62 or 63 matches this year?

Where is that 63rd win?

We just can't find it, but maybe you can . . . :help:

Check the Roger Federer ATP Player Profile, you get : Singles Record : 63 - 7

Quite an impressive result, for a total of 70 matches.

Here at CoreTennis.net we can only find a total of 69 Federer matches in 14 ATP and Grand Slam tournaments (but excluding Davis Cup), for 62 wins and 7 losses.

So either we have lost a result, or the ATP has chucked one in for good measure . . .

Can anybody come up with a plausible explanation?

W/O against Haas perhaps?

Edit: Actually, there may be another reason. The ATP counts Davis Cup, so if you have 62-7, it should have 64-7, but it doesn't count walkovers so that would mean it would have 63-7.

Maybe there was a match where an opponent retired which is counted in one and not in another. Just a guess, didn't check

yes that is the reason

Even with the W/O the total is 62. So, where is the 63rd match the ATP has in its records, huh?

Rogi is a high effective guy!

He only plays and win all 2 non-Mandatory tournaments this years.

He enters 8 consecutive finals recently. (Hamburg TMS - Roland Garros - Wimbledon - TMS Canada - TMS Cincinnati - US Open - TMS Madrid - Basel)

Even with the W/O the total is 62. So, where is the 63rd match the ATP has in its records, huh?

well i was guessing Davis Cup matches were included

This pretty much discredits the whole system and for all we know Federer could be on 0 wins.

Hey Tennis Kid,
That's made it clear, I have really learnt something new thanks to you and the confirmations from Gulliver.
It makes sense, just needed to understand the basis of the calculations.

Have a big one on me . . . :bigwave:

Thanks for clearing this up Gulliver!

Haidef,
Thanks for your efforts to find the right solution, for a while I thought that as both of us came to the same conclusions, there may well have been a mistake in the ATP results, but now it looks like we both made the same error. That's life. . .

Thanks again. :hatoff:
