Yet another Shanghai hopeful bites the dust.
Unbelievably, even though he lost his first match in Madrid and didn't play this week, Haas holds onto the 8th position of the race.

They were both choking
Ivo double faulted at *4-2, then Berdych didn't win after 6-4*
then Ivo didn't win on his serve at *13-12 but made a minibreak at 14-13* :D:D
Vamoooooooos :rocker2:

A nail-biting finish but Karlovic was a deserved winner, he won more points overall, more return points, and was much closer to breaking serve in the final set even though there was one eternal game on his serve at 4-5 down. If it hadn't been for that double fault when he was 4-2 up in the breaker, after which he lost 4 points in a row, the match might have been over a lot quicker. I wonder if Berdych was thinking about Shanghai when he had that one chance on serve at 6-5, though....

Great match from both players actually.
BTW karlovic backhand was perfectly working well today. :yeah:
Normally i see his bh go to the net but today it worked well
He made great bh passing shot winner.
I'm really pleased with his performance from the baseline.

Berdych. i fell bit sorry for him. he couln't handle the bh slices by karlovic and offcourse frustrated.
All the credit to karlovic.

And yes there some sore losers who keep whining whenever karlovic wins. But they can go to hell.

Stupid Berdych. I want him to make TMC but he may missed a chance at points. Looks like none of the contenders are really interested in making it except maybe Murray. Only him and Gonzo have picked up points. Berdych, Blake, Robredo, Ljubicic, Gasquet, and even Canas all flamed out again.

Ivo is very tough when he is serving at 75% plus, I think Tomas had only one break point and only reached deuce in 3 games overall. He had a careless forehand long and an unlucky net cord in the 2nd set tiebreak, after he lost that his concentration level dropped and started making more errors from the ground. Still, he just failed to take his chance on his serve in the deciding tiebreak.

There's a notorious bug in the ATPtennis scoreboard that attributes all aces and df's in the tie-break to the player that served the first point in tie-break. However the aces are counted correctly in the match statistics. The fact that they haven't fixed this bug after a year shows very poor software management by the ATP.

hmmm, I think that in the TB aces and double faults made on the second service points are attributed to the opponent

but I'm not 100% sure

anyway, it's an annoying bug in the scoreboard

It is ok if you hate ivo. Well it is boring for you as you prefer clay courters only. But I respect your opinion anyway.

1) tennis match was not only big serves. Did you watch this match.
did you watch the passing shots made by karlovic in the tb. (Three big passing shots in TB came at crucial times. As the matter of fact it was berdych who got little lucky in the third set tie-break to get to 6-4 but karlovic saved the match point by a forehand passing shot winner at 5-6* on berdych serve. )

2) if he was only serving aces he wouldn't have won three titles on three different surfaces. I'm sure there are big severs like arthurs, guccione, He definetely improved from baseline otherwise he wouldn't win 40+ matches this year. (I'm sure players who solely rely on thier serves didn't ahieve that in the past. Lets take for example wayne arthurs who played for more than 10 years and won only won title.)
Ivo is closing in on top 20 next week. Well he got his stammering problem sorted out. good for him.

He wins 95 % of time and has little competiton  Atleast things get interesting when he plays big servers.
Well Berdych vs federer would have been boring tennis anyway, All we can see is federer pummeling his opponent. Berdych is erratic player on tour and his fh was huge he hit a lot of good winners but the real thing is he was troubled by karlovic's bh slices.

yeah one of them is on berdych's serve at 5-6* where he hit angled forehand passing shot winner to make it 6-6. Berdych was just stunned.

also he hit a perfect serve down the center ad court at *8-9 to save another match point (i assume it is MP #3. Berdych challenged it but his face was the hawkeye showed the ball landed perfectly on the line.

Overall berdych didn't play bad at all. He hit some great fh winners cloked at 150 kph. But karlovic's backhand suprised me and it worked very well as the matter of fact and low bh slices really troubled berdych a lot and forced berdych to come to the net.

Overall great performance from both players.

He will be top 20 by the end of seasonre or by the begining of AO. face it.

And as for yo calling him a one trick pony. he isn't a one trick pony. You are just showing a sheeer hatred of karlovic. Or you didn't watch today's nmatch at all.karlovic has groundstrokes end of story. They are enough for him to be in top 20.

Ivo will have to play all 9 AMS events next year, meaning he will lose most of his points from optionals and take a hit in the rankings. Any time Ivo faces a decent returner, he's finished. If he wasn't all serve, then he wouldn't have to save match points against a washed up Andre Sa, get beaten in straight sets by Brian Wilson (WHO?!) or go 7-5 in the third with Simon Stadler (x2) and go to third set tie breaks with Lee Childs and Alun Jones.

Ivo's game is a huge serve, mediocre volleys, below average forehand, and one of the worst backhands to ever grace the game, capped off by poor movement.

ok who did robredo lose to this week. Gicquel? who did ljubicic lose to this week Falla? :haha:
oh yeah who did federer lose to in rome volandri. ? :haha:
and you call robredo and ljubicic top 10 players. :haha:
do you think gicquel, falla and volandri are better than karlovic? :haha:
Number 2 he lost to brian wilson last year not this year.
number 3 didn't federer struglle against berrer and kristian pless this year. Took three sets to beat them. :haha:
so i the fact is karlovic lost to a couple of players just like your favorites lost to a lot of so caled 'weak" players.

only one thing i agree with you that backhand. (but it isn't bad this week. he hit three bh rallies in a row to beat to blake. federer couln't even win points on karlovic low backhand.
BTW I can't wait to see you go hiding when if karlovic did reach TMC next season. Nothing is impossible. wait and see.
Rest of your theory is bullshit.

BTW why the hell are you only mentioned the matches he lost.?
Here are some of the top ten players karlovic managed to beat
James Blake( x3)
Tommy haas(x 4 three times on clay)
Davydenko on clay
Robredo times x2
some former gs champions
Marat safin(x2)
Tojo(x2)
Hewitt(x3)Two of those ocassions were when hewitt was top 10. you call hewitt a good returner right.

As for tiebreak finishes are concerned. Andy roddick needed three sets(two tiebreaks) to win queens with 4-6 7-6 7-6 against mahut.(who is a mediocore player.)
Lets see who else needed tie breaks

BTW i won't waste my time disscussing with idiots like you. I'm sure you didn't expect karlovic top a top 100 this year. Admit it. karlovic will shut up haters. If he did reach TMC. (which is not an impossible task.) I'm sure you will create a thread called Karlovic needs to banned or other shit.

If you have a opinion fine. but calling them one trick pony without any evidence is unacceptable.

Well atlast i don't expect hin to reach TMC as well. but that doesn't mean it isn't a impossible task. as for defending points he should have a few problems after miami but still
he can stay inside top 20.He is not a top 10 player imo too.(that doesn't mean it isn't possible. assuming boredo has achieved that status)
