Who Will Qualify 8th For Shanghai?

10-25-2007, 02:15 PM
Although not yet officially qualified Ferrer and Gonzalez are obviously going to qualify 6th and 7th for Shanghai thus only the 8th position is in question and could really go to any one of 5 or 6 players.

Based on their play (or lack of) this week, their current Race position and how you predict they will fare in the Paris Masters who do you think realistically will likely qualify 8th for Shanghai?

In my opinion considering Haas and Robredo either didn't play or went out first round this week and Blake needs to reach at least semis to gain points and could very well be beaten by Karlovic before then I would probably rule them out.

Technically Ljubicic could still stand a good shot in Lyon and Berdych could win one or two more rounds in Basel while I believe that with Roddick losing early to Santoro that Gasquet should win Lyon.

Although I would really like to see Andy Murray qualify 8th by winning St. Petersberg and having a good run in Paris I don't think he is really a realistic contender for Shanghai.

My pick for qualifying 8th is Richard Gasquet.

Blake really cant gain any points this week as he has Fed in the semis and a ljubo-richie final in lyon is highly possible but really paris will decide everything

Easily Gasquet i thought before this week and now with Blake out it confirms that. ljubo and richard should easily make final of Lyon thats if Ljubo doesnt mess up against Ascoine.

Probably someone I don't want to.

10-25-2007, 04:26 PM
Gasquet probably, but hopefully Murray.

10-25-2007, 04:30 PM
Berdych :yeah:

10-25-2007, 04:32 PM
which of them wants to go? they will come only to make numbers, I can see Berdie making only 1 big victory though :p

10-25-2007, 04:37 PM
Gonzalez is not safe yet.

10-25-2007, 04:50 PM
haas will be rested and make a good run in paris, while gasquet and murry will do well this week, buit fail to go deep in paris

I am just hopeful

You can probably count out Blake now ! (yeah!)

10-25-2007, 04:54 PM
I voted for Blake, but it's more a wishful than logical thinking. Somehow I don't think he will do well in Paris.

10-25-2007, 04:57 PM
Probably someone I don't want to.

I second that....

Murray or Berdych, please. But for some vague reason I expect to get disappointed... :aww:

Hoping for Murray, but realistically I don't think he has any chance. I wouldn't mind Haas, Gasquet or Berdych but I expect it will be Ljubicic.

10-25-2007, 09:38 PM
Berdych i think but Murray i hope.

10-25-2007, 09:40 PM
Would love to see Murray there but just feel it is too unlikely. He has to win St petersburg and make semis of paris minimum in my opinion which i don't think he will do.

10-25-2007, 11:10 PM
Would REALLY NOT like to see Murray make it but he's a heavy favorite to win St. Pete. It was a pretty weak field and with Davy out he would really have to screw up to loose it. As for PAris with all the other guys in contention looking like they don't want it by early round defeats in Madrid and some more this week, Murray could make the semis.:armed:

I would love to see the usual suspects Federer, Nadal and Djokovic fail to reach another AMS final. Firstly because it is refreshing and opens the window of doubt as to who will win the TMC but more so because I would love to see two TMC contenders battle it out with a place in Shanghai on the line. How great would that be?

Hoping Murray!!!!!! Hope its not Gasquet or Ljuba or Boredo

So if not Murray Blake or Berdych

Haas is like whatever

10-25-2007, 11:44 PM
I hope Haas or Berdych

10-26-2007, 01:17 AM
It will probably be Robredo because for some reason I think he is the most clutch of this group of mentally suspect players. It surely won't be Blake. That would require him to perform well under pressure in Paris which seems like an impossibility.

With Robredo, Haas and now Gasquet out early this week clearly the 8th position will be determined in Paris.

Should Ljubicic win Lyon then his chances will increasingly look realistic.

If Murray does win St.Petersberg I would still say he would be in with a chance (he would have to win) of qualifying but he would have to at least reach the semi finals of the Paris Masters (perhaps further if players higher in the Race reach the semis as well).
