Voo de Mar will rave about this match :lol: aces and TBs galore

:yeah: :wavey:

The process of the final tie-break since first match point:
6-5 Rochus
7-6 Fish
8-7 Rochus
* 9-8 Rochus
10-9 Rochus
11-10 Fish (saved MP with an ace)
12-11 Rochus
13-12 Fish (2 aces in a row)
14-13 Rochus
15-14 Fish (another 2 aces in a row)
17-15 Rochus (Fish had 2nd serve this time)

Some stats:
- Fish served 43 aces and it is 2nd best achievement in 3-setter in an ATP match (record holder Philippoussis served 44 aces against B.Black in Kuala Lumpur 1995)
- Only Philippoussis, Fish and Ivanisevic have served more than 40 aces in a 3 set match in ATP history
- Fish had one match point in the 2nd TB and 4 MP's in the 3rd TB, so he had 5 match points in all (maybe he had some MP's before the tie-breaks, I don't know)
- the last time 17:15 in the deciding set was in January 1997 when Tarango beat Bjorkman 6-1 6-7 7-6 in Adelaide
- it was first all-tie-break match for Fish, and third for O.Rochus (won against K.Kim, lost against Federer)

I'd love to know what that arrogant "C" list 'pro' tennis player said at the net to Ollie.

OMG what a crazy scoreline:eek::worship: Oli:yeah:

Yes, the scoreline is crazy :) In view of all-tie-break matches, this 17:15 is a record in the final tie-break. Previously the longest tie-break in matches with scores 6-7 7-6 7-6 or 7-6 6-7 7-6 was 11:9 (Carlsen def. O'Brien, Karlovic def. Moodie & Mirnyi def. Baker).
Of course I tell you only about the matches since 1991 because tie-break results from all the matches before that year are unknown :sad:

"Mardy served unbelievable today; to hit 43 aces is pretty good" Rochus said laughing. "I think from the baseline I was moving well and not making a lot of unforced errors. I tried to play my game, be aggressive and defend well. I was happy with the way I played, feeling the ball great today and keeping my serve pretty well during the match. On his serve I was trying my best, but you need a bit of luck to save 5 match points and win finally. I really fought hard throughout the match and it's really great when the last point is for you."

"It was such an amazing match, saved 5 match points; to win like this 17-15 in the tiebreak is just amazing", a delighted Rochus said. "It's a match that I will never ever forget. It's good that it happened at the end of the season as it will give me a lot of confidence for next year."

Mardy accused Oli of making off-putting exhaling noises during his service motion early in the first set and there was quite a heated exchange of words between the two at the next changeover. But Oli gives as good as he gets and didn't accept any crap from Fish. Allez Oli!

"I asked him if he didn't want me to breathe anymore; want me to die on the court? I mean I was just doing nothing, but he said I was disturbing him."

Mardy :rolleyes:

I just knew that scumbag had to do something unsportsmanlike during the match.

Seriously, what is WRONG with this guy ? Could anyone be THIS much of an @zzhole ? He's really hanging around Roddick too much. And they're both getting similar stellar results.

you're not in America anymore, boys.

Why is it that the American men are so conceited yet the American woman don't seem to be ? Davenport, Vania King, Tu, Shaughnessy, even Venus Williams never complains during a match and always has nice things to say after a loss.

I think the fact that Roddick, Fish etc. were all friends as youngsters didn't help.

Isner seems very humble and easy-going though. :worship:
