Not a performance Gonzo should look back on with great pride.
He was ahead 4-2 in the first and blew it, and ahead in the tiebreak and blew that, before finally snatching it.
He was comfortably ahead in the second set, but started not trying on the Haehnel serve, especially at 5-2, planning to serve it out, but was broken at love at 5-3 before toughing out Haehnel's next service game to win.
Definitely went the long way round at this one.

You can expect nothing less from Crapnando Mugzalez these days
But at least he got the win :)

I had thought he would win more easily but a win is a win :yeah:
Hope for better form in his next match and more points for Shanghi :)

Honestly in this game Gonzalez behave like a complete pillock. He tanked receiving games and let his opponent back in the game. If I was his opponent I would be insulted by the behaviour - it basically says I don't need to try i'm up a break and there's no chance you're going to break me.

Gonzo was in truba mode at his best today :silly:
but a win is a win ;)

Haehnel is a good player who doesn't enjoy travelling. He could easily have been in the top 50-100 in his career. Not a bad scoreline really and we know Fernando is no where near his best.

Haehnel is a decent player.

It was a very good match. Both players played well.
Gonzo was patient. Would be a good semi finalist in Shanghai.
