Good solid match, apart from the as usual awful BP conversion rate :help:

He needs to be on top of his game tomorrow against Fat Dave :armed:

Yeah, what is it with Fed and BP conversions? Did Kiefer step it up on BPs or did Fed just blow them?

Never in doubt, take the title.

Good serving from Federer. :)

At least Kiefer didn't get broken due to being too nice, when he could have aimed that one shot at Federer's body (Federer got to the passing shot attempt and won the point). ;).

Good week for Kiwi. :yeah:

Federer blew some, but Kiefer was very aggresive in is BPs.

Federer hasnt lost serve in this tournament so far, I think this might change tomorrow.

Kiefer saved the BP more than Fed lost them. Solid play by Roger and good to see Kiefer back. Kiwi's volleys . Hoping to see a superb match tomorrow against Nalbo. Should be fun.

Fed 2/12 on BP. Kiefer played very well to save them, but fed also made some strange decisions.
Kiefer was really good, I enjoyed the match. Some phenomenal shots on both sides.
Still, good luck to Nalby in the finals!

70% of the BP's were just good aggressive play from kiefer. 30% were blown due to him missing some and being passive on others.

To Kiwi's credit he gave almost nothing away on those BP's. He either hit good solid deep shots keeping Federer pinned to the back of the court, then came in to finish the point off at the net. He also varied it by serving and volleying every now and then.

There were some foolish errors of course on some of the BP's from Roger but for the most part Kiefer did well. My only qualm against Roger is that he played good points pushing the play during the Kiefer service game but on the BP's reverted to a more passive game waiting for Kiefer to make the mistakes which did not come.

If he does the same against Dave tomorrow he will be in trouble.

Just another day in the office for JesusFed. Nalbi will have to top his game against Rafa and Nole if he's to have any shot at winning.

That easy volley at 4:4, 0:15 (IIRC) was  . Right into the net.
And in the first set, he handed Federer the break with a df. But I won't complain that much, since he saved so many.

I think Kiefer deserves quite a bit of the credits for Fed not being able to convert so many BPs - he played very well indeed when having to defend those BPs. Not unlike Lopez yesterday, BTW. ;)

Anyway, solid-but-nothing-special match from Fed, though there were quite a few amazing shots in the second set. And of course, very good serving by Fed - it looks like that his serve is by now by far the shot that brings him the most points, at least on HC. Call it a regular day at the office for Fed.

Looking forward to the final, I expect it to be a great match! :D

Don't be so harsh on the guy. His volleys were great for almost the entire match. This tournament was great for him overall.

Good win for Federer and good tournament for Kiefer. Will be very interesting to see how Nalbandian tackles a Federer serve which has been rock solid throughout this tournament.

Ugh, awful BP conversion %. Pathetic as always.

If Fed had a decent BP conversion % he would have won Roland Garros this year.

Kiefer was more than good throughout this whole tournament. Very interesting to watch, even though I don't always enjoy his charming personality.
:hatoff: to Kiefer, what he's done today would have been more than enough against many great players. Wish him best of luck in the next season. Glad to see a 30 year old guy who still plays with such passion.

Good win for Federer and good tournament for Kiefer. Will be very interesting to see how Nalbandian tackles a Federer serve which has been rock solid throughout this tournament.

For one, Nalbandian is returning better than any player Fed has faced so far this tournament. But Fed is serving simply outstanding, so it's well possible that he'll finish the tournament unbroken.

He's going to be broken at least once or twice in the final unless he plays absolutely impeccably, I think.

Fed doesn't play that well against Kiefer anyway but today he was also cautious probably because he hadn't played Kiefer in a long time. All in all, good match for Fed.

I didn't watch the match, and won't watch tomorrow's match either (that thing called work).

Federer makes 5th TMS final of the year, and that after Canas and Volandri in the beginning of the season...

Federer makes 5th TMS final of the year, and that after Canas and Volandri in the beginning of the season...

After the so-called "slump" during the early part of the year and his seperation from Tony Roche Roger has now reached the finals of all events he has entered since then:

Winner in Hamburg
Finalist of French Open
Winner of Wimbledon
Finalist in Montreal
Winner in Cincinatti
Winner of US US Open

And now the final of Madrid :)

I haven't watched todays match as well, but judging from the comments Kiwi played a good match as usual against Roger.
:hatoff: to Nicolas for a great run at the tournament.

Congratulations to Roger for reaching the final and best of luck for his match against David :)

Not necessarily. For example, Nalbi broke Nole only once today, and Nole wasn't serving anywhere near the level Fed has displayed this week. It's not easy to break serve on this surface at all.

On the other hand, Nalbi WILL get more points off Fedex's serve than Kiwi or Feli did. So Nalbi has a shot at winning a tb (even though Feli got the first set to a tb, it was clear he was never winning it because he simply couldn't touch Federer's serve).

Didn't watch this one so glad to see it was a pretty straightforward win for Federer against a historically tricky opponent :) Best of luck to him today and well done to Kiefer for a good week :yeah:
