Yeah, this is good. I don't care much for Coria or Gaudio, and the other Argentines I like more are less successful and not dominating. But this is still good. And God bless Nalbandian.

But I must agree that Id much rather see the Argies over the Spaniards--glad the Argies dominated. So on that note, I am very happy for them. If it was like, Moya and JC Mosquito and some other Spaniard in these semis, personally it would be too hard for me to bare. Thanks Argentina for really stepping it up

Well you can't deny he is the favourite! No - I think Coria WILL win but i think people are wrong to say that Henman is beaten already. An upset is definitely possible. Anyway, you guys must be happy to have at least one of your players in the final though? Which one would you prefer to triumph? Fat David or Gaston?

Let's all cool down a bit, will we?

For some of my fellow argentines (especially the newbies): obviously you can and will do as you please, but i would suggest not to get too arrogant...
do you remember when we only had Gumy on Top 100? it was not that far ago...and in this forum, most of people appreciate good tennis regardeless nationalities...
We can be happy and congratulate with no need on rubbing the victories on other people faces...

FOR JEZ: I sometimes have felt this last days you have focused more on "raining on Argie's parade" (as you put it), than pulling for Tim himself...

...have you any idea what strange and difficult and amazing is to achieve what they have? we are talking about a group of players who haven't had big, powerful Tennis Federations on their backs, lots of WC, tourneys near home all year...
Some of them managed to continue playing thanks to their families... we only brought 8 guys here...

...so pulling for Tim is perfect, but spreading threads all over the place about "destroying our dreams"... with all respect, it seems a little foolish to me...

the french girl/guy: your comment is so sad and out of respect and sense i can only feel sorry for you...

Ha. I don't think anybody sporting a Canada flag should be busting any other nations ass over doping :p

Furthermore, it's not fair to the numerous Argies who have not been charged to take the blame for what Coria, Chela, etc. did or did not do. Forgive me for not noticing the Nalbandian and Gaudio incidents.

Why am I responding to a troll?

With all due respect, i think you have got the worng end of the stick here. I am not targeting Argentine tennis AT ALL - i have incredibly high respect for what Nalbandian, Coria, Gaudio, Calleri, Chela etc have achieved given their lack of financial support etc. It is truly incredible and they have all been very brave, as are the ones that are just starting out now.

I am not spreading loads of threads around saying i hope Tim destroys your dreams - i think there are only two threads....far fewer than the endless numbers of ones claiming that coria will slaughter our player. I don't want you to see it as dreams being shattered - that is cruel and heartless. I object to the fact that most of your colleagues see the match won already, and with minimum effort.

I like most people am looking forward to the match and i certainly feel NO hatred against Coria or anyone. The match is likely to go your way and that doesn't bother me in the slightest. These threads are just a bit of fun and meant to be light-hearted. We are all goading each other on in a friendly way, at least that is how i see it. I have taken all threads in MTF to be made in light-hearted manner and all my posts are made in a light-hearted manner. After all this isn't a forum for people that are serious and insulting about what they write. :)

The true? I think Coria will win in straight, maybe 64 63-64, Iīm not underrating Henman, but "willy" is playing great in this tournament, dont lose not even a set.... there is no doubt, its the worse opponent who henman could challenge.
The only point to take attention for coria to me, is the different tennis style who handle tim, that could be a problem for guillermo.
He is customary to play against guys who handle their own style, but with guys like Verkerk, Roddick, Mirny, etc the results are not the best.
Anyways, this is clay, en Coria make the difference here.

To tell the truth, Iīm a little scared. I think if Guille plays his best (no matter what Tim does) heīll win in staight sets, but he will need to be sharp. If heīs not in a good day...Tim will make sure that he gets frustrated

Yes, it's true. But I don't see Coria having a bad day on clay. I mean look what he did with Moya. He made him look like a complete newbie on court. He can do that with whoever he wants.

Tim will definitely fight him and no matter what Coria does, Tim will win a lot of the exchanges but yeah...I expect Coria to win in 4 sets. If Tim gets a set-winning opportunity he'll take it unlike Careless Carlos. If Coria has a bad day (unlikely) Tim will beat him.

Carlos was Careless though to be fair! :) Tim will go for every shot. He will either win most exchanges this way and therefore get to the final or he will be anniliated...no middle ground in this match. :)

Hey jez!! :wavey:

Carlos was Careless though to be fair!

uhmm.. i'm not that sure about that. He wanted to beat Coria, take revenge of the last match he lost to him (in Buenos Aires). So i'd say he really wanted to win the match but he just didn't seem to be as focused as Coria was.

Tim will go for every shot. He will either win most exchanges this way and therefore get to the final or he will be anniliated...no middle ground in this match.

Hi Carito! :wavey: Yeah i would probably go for the second option too, but Tim is full of surprises and i wouldn't be surprised if he took a set off Coria at least. (It would have to be the first set of course!).

If Tim is going to win (30 % possible) then he will have to do it in 3 sets (very unlikely) or 4 sets (unlikely). There you go - straight from the horse's mouth! :haha: Tim definitely has a chance - he is not the average player that Coria expects - he is a net player. No matter what Coria says, he isn't as calm as he says he is, and this is more of a challenge to his mind, rather that his game. He might struggle. :)

Jez: About your takes, I just quoted you... if they intended to be fun instead of irritating...no problem...just didn't look that way but I accept your word.

On the match, i'll say this: even Guille was last year at RG half the player he is now, he would have beaten Verkerk 9 out of 10 times, but he got that elusive 10th and lost...

Coria is better now, but Tim is also better than Verkerk and has no pressure on him (as opposed to Wimbledon, where he has been affected by it) which makes it 3 times more dangerous.

I also believe if Coria brings his A game, he is out of reach for Henman (for every player on clay except an inspired Nalby, Safin or Federer, by the way)... but if he don't, he will be in danger because Tim's style will difficult him to regain some fluidness.

I have gain nothing but respect for Henman since he came back from injury last year...
it's not easy to play the best tennis of your life at almost 30 and the run at Paris was awesome...

I really hope Guille takes him out now, because I wanna see an Argentine champion, but his chances won't be slim if he passes Coria.

I guess I am the only Coria fan who is very nervous.

Tim seems to be the favorite of the tennis gods this year.... an unlikely semifinalist. Coria met the tennis gods' favorite last year too.... Verkerk, and lost. I see some similarities. I wonder if Guille sees that too.

Surely you can see that Henman is due a Grand Slam final now - 5 semi-finals? Am i the only one, apart from you, that doesn't see the match as Coria's win already?
