Ugh, can't believe Kuerten totally flubbed that tie-break. He had the mini-break and held a set point in that TB, and lost it:sad: vamos gaudio, all the way to the finals (his form vs Hewitt impressed me, moreso that Nalbandian's play vs Safin)

I really love David to a point where I I thought I wouldn't mind seeing Guga go down, but I am not perfect and I admit I mind a shiiteload! Thanks David, thanks, yah. Oh well! Not everything can always have that fairytale run. Well, David knows what he has to do now--Gaudio has to go. If he's in the final, I'll gag

Guga, but brilliant performance these past weeks

That's right, Nalby!! You showed your power once more!

This was a great push-through for Nalbandian - now he will finaly be in the top-five, what he deserved long before.

Now, good luck in semis, and then win Roland Garros!!

Tim must win against Coria, and David must lose to Gaudio in order for Tim to get #4; otherwise, it's David's all the way....

I think David's name is written on number 4 for the moment anyway. Tim's chances against Coria are maximum 30% and in all honesty he isn't going to beat him. I would expect David to beat Gaudio, but i get the feeling that Gaudio is playing more impressive tennis at the moment. I'm not trying to take anything away from David's last two victories but he has played two struggling players - a tired and very sore (11 bleeding blisters) Safin and a clearly struggling Kuerten. He has played well but i get the feeling that he would have been beaten by either player had they been fit. Gaudio meanwhile has gone from strength to strength since his two 5-set victories in the opening rounds.

I don't know - Gaudio v Coria in the final?

Man, I was so torn! Gosh! I kept accidentally rooting for Guga! But then Nally was so happy and ya just can't help to just be happy along with him! It was so bittersweet  *sighs* MAN! The hustle from Nal-B was so awesome! Dude, it's gotta be 5 sets vs Gaston. GO DAVID!!!!!!!! :clap2: Guga

Oh Mary Carillo was so dumb, she hadn't even heard of "Nal-B". I was like "You idiot! That's his nickname!". Pac Man (Patrick McEnroe) said that "Nal-b is the kind of guy that can knock you off your mojo" :haha:

Here's my theory: David doesn't care who's across the net from him. He's giving it all he got, win or lose. I think that Gaudio, although he is on form, he may get overwhelmed by the occasion, and fold. He had excellent form facing Hewitt, but let's face it, who hasn't solved Hewitt by now (besides Henman)?

Great win for David, needed some terrific shots (crosscourt forehand winner way out of court) and Guga tightening up to avoid the match going into the 5th but pretty sure Guga would have run out of steam anyway.
David's backhand was excellent today, especially down the line.

I think he will beat Gaudio even though Gaston seems to be in the form of his life but David has the experience plus Gaudio might just tighten up if Gaston, however, plays the way like he did against Hewitt then it will be a awesome match.

A slam is a slam. We have people on this board who have a hard time seeing him as a future "GS champ", so a win here is just as good as a win anywhere else... :)

Sorry but he won't win against either 3 opponents! The best chance he has is beating Gaudio...which is less than 50%. He won't win the final i'm afraid...whoever it is against... :)

If he so much as makes the final, he'll never get the credit he deserves for making the Wimbledon and RG finals (yes, it'd be better if he actually WON one of them, but it's damn impressive none the less)

Gotta say though, however small David's chance is, it is still at least 3 times higher than Tim's. Coria obviously is more consistant than Gaudio, and Nalbandian is also a stronger player IMO.

I don't know - i think if Henman gets to his first GS final he will take it - after all the crowd will be heavily on his side too and he won;t have the weight of expectation on his shoulders either. Everybody knows that Naldo doesn't particularly like clay either so it is not as if the match would be playing into his hands...

No, I am not talking about what happens during the final, I am talking about reaching the final. Nalbandian's chance of getting to the final is obviously higher than Tim's, and that was what I was saying.

In order for them to face, they must get to the final, and I am simply saying David's chance of getting there is higher.

You know, i know Henman is defferent now that he has Annacone, but if David and Tim meet in the final, i think David would win in straight sets. It just seems that Henmans game falls right into Nalbandians. Serve & Volley/ attacking players havent given Nalbandian that much trouble in the past. Its one of the reasons he used to beat Federer all the time. Federer would Serve & Volley against him, and Nalbandian would pass or lob him with ease. By now Federer has learnt not to serve and Volley against him, so he's finally beat him. I'm not however suggesting Henman do this (stay back) because i dont think he can compete with Nalbandian from the baseline.

Predictable.

If you'd watched them play any of their matches, you would notice that Henman simply doesn't match up well against Nalbandian. Nalbandian picks him apart just like Hewitt does, but not quite as well.

Jez, is the Minister for Tim Henman Propaganda and David enjoys playing serve/volleyers even if David wins RG, he will never get any credit and still be underrated.

Great match. I enjoyed it.

Nalbandian played really well, I love those crazy angle shots he came out with. He's so good in turning defensive into attacking winner. I can see why guga's serves is so hard to return, but he managed it. Guga's backhand is terrific. So great to watch. Wonderful performance from both players, unfortunate for Guga and both are very fair players. Just played their good tennis, and that's more than entertaining enough.

As a Rogi's fan, I can't help wondering what's it that Nalbandian did which Rogi didn't. Wish I get to watcht that guga/rogi match too. But anyway, I wish Nalbandian or Gaudio can now go on and win this FO.

Isy, I guess you haven't seen many Guga's matches. Guga played better vs Roger than against Nalbandian today. Roger was not playing his best vs Guga and Nalbandian played well and progressively better toward the end of the match.

ya Lee, unfortunately I haven't got many chances of watching guga at all, I wish I have though :)

From what I heard, Guga did play a great match against Rogi and it seemed like Rogi just didn't have much answers to neither Guga's serves nor backhand. Anyway it's ok, he lost to a great 3 times FO chammpion who have played really well that day. Nothing to feel too bad about :) (though I somewhat still wish he hadn't gotten guga in the 3rd round :o )

I did feel sad for Guga when he didn't manage to close up that 4th set yesterday though. He fought hard and had his chances. But both are great and fair, so I'm happy for nalbandian too.

Guga served for the 4th set twice and I expected him to hold out, but David can strike from anywhere and his returns are outstanding. The wind doesn't help Guga, but at the same time Isy, he was in the mood and feeling the love and Rogi didn't have it this day to come through.

Bad luck for Guga, but David deserves the credit for an outstanding performance.

Of course he does, I'd always have Nalbandian as one of my favourite to watch and he did play a great match. You're right, his returns are fantastic.

Here's what I post in Guga's forum about this match. ESPN's coverage started at 2-4 3rd set so I can only base on what I saw there.

1. Guga's forehand abandon him. At critical points, forehand unforce error comes to play.

2. At 40-15 5-4 in 4th. Guga missed his backhand badly when Nalby was not in a good position to return the ball.

3. Nalbandian improved when 4th set progress but not Guga.

4. The windy condition affects Guga more as he wears contact lens and trust me, it's really tough with dirt around.

5. Nalbandian played better than Guga. Guga's play was erratic with brilliant shots in between and Nalbandian has some incredible shots himself. Nalbandian handed the game to Guga at 5-5 but he kept his composure and earned the break back.
