Of Nalbandian, Haas and Safin at their best, who has the better forehand?

Me and my friend were talking about this. All three of those guys are known for their great backhands but don't have horrible forehands either. Which of the three would you say has the best forehand? (Keep in mind this is not based on present form)

Safin and Nalbandian have much stronger backhands than forehands. Haas is pretty solid off both but i'd say he has the best forehand.

I'd say Haas.

Personally I'd say Nalbandian, Safin and Haas in that order, although if it were based on current form then Safin would be a long way off the other two.

Safin, Nalbandian then Haas IMO.

btw, sorry guys I don't know how to add a poll.

I think if you edit your first post there is an option to add a poll. I'm not sure about this though. I know when you start threads there is a bubble towards the bottom that asks if you want to add a poll.

Haas and Safin are equal, then Nalbandian. Relative to their peak form of course.

You know what, if they were in their peak, Safin would beat all of them easily. Not just FH, also BH, movement, volley, or lob.
Statistic says it all.

At his peak, Safin. It's been said somewhere that when he's on, Safin is one of the purest ball-strikers in the game. I wouldn't disagree with that.

I would think Haas has the next best forehand, then Nalbandian.

Haas' forehand is super inconsistent. It depends a lot on his mood, some days he relies on his backdown the line and others he'll start smacking forehands.

At their peak its definitely Safin, Haas then Nalbandian. I've never seen Nalbandian just start smashing forehands out of nowhere but I've seen Safin and Haas do it countless times.

Definitely Marat with the best forehand but the topic is a bit whack since these three aren't really known for their forehands but all three possess superb backhands.

Safin IMO.

Indeed all three can always rely on their BH but the FH is the real litmus test of their form. Interestingly though inspite of this they would still run round to hit the inside-out FH when they get the opportunity. On current form Safin should be running round to hit the inside-out BH if he had half a brain, almost every player is treating him like a lefty.

Even at his best Safin didn't have as much consistency but he had the most power and just as much accuracy which is why his was more of a weapon. Under pressure (when opponents attacked the net) Safin and Nalbandian's FHs usually held up better than Haas.

1. Safin
2. Nalbandian
3. Haas

I think Safin then Nalbandian and Haas who have more or less the same level of forehand.

Inside out FH in tennis is a different shot than FH. It is far more attack based and even guys like Gasquet do it.

I guess almost every player in the top 100 has a better inside out FH than BH for being aggressive with, yes this goes for Haas, Safin and Nalbandian.

all three of them are inconsistent with their forehands and btw Nalbandian is not so good when having to generate his own peace but he is great counterpunching with his forehand, and returning and passing too

Safin obviously, did you watch the US Open 2000, Australian Open 2004 & 2005?

Safin has had a much better career than both of these guys, and you cant win 2 grand slams on hard, reach number one without a forehand.

Safin :haha: He never had the most reliable forehand, even at his best.

FOREHAND: Haas, Nalbandian, Safin.

(BACKHAND: Safin, Nalbandian, Haas)
:)

When Safin and Nalby are on they are better than Haas in every department (except serving where Nalby always sucks).

its surprising to me to see ppl rate haas fh as the best one here.

nalbandian's serve is not a liability like coria's but its not a strength. Not many people can take advantage of dave's serve because he kicks it up high to the other's bh.

His serve is better than Nadals and Corias but he cant serve out from a lets say 15-40 situation to save his life, most players in the top 10 can at those moments or in a moment they are serving for the match really just rise their serve to another level and give their opponent nothing to work on.

I would compare his serve to Davydenkos, just kind of mediocre and nothing special. His big weakness as a tennis player.

Nalbandian's is the best by far.
His backhand is his best shot, but his forehand is excellent too.

nabs has the best rally fh but perhaps doesnt have the brute power of safin when trying to hit the crap out of the ball. Safin on a good day is dangerous from the fh side.

Safin's forehand was never top 3. It was always his achilles heel.

Nalbandian >>> Safin.

So when Nalbandian is on he has a better slice backhand and volley than Haas?

Safin has a better slice backhand, volley and movement than Haas?
