Secret guilty pleasures - players you like to watch but are ashamed to admit!

OK, it's time to come clean.

Name your secret guilty pleasures... the players you actually enjoy watching but, for whatever reason, you won't admit that fact to yourself (or others)....

For me, the No.1 guilty pleasure is Ivo Karlovic. I like watching him play against the top players because of the possibility of an upset. OK, the match would probably have no real rhythm due to the aces and unreturnables, but I also enjoy watching the top player attempt to solve the conumdrum that is the serve, and to attempt to hold on as best they can.

There you go... my admission.

Your turn now!

Karlovic and Stepanek to me too! Karlovic is probably one of the top 5 guys I like to watch playing tennis!

Llodra and Mahut are 2 other mediocre players I would rather watch than Blake or Davydenko.

Karlovic for me as well. And he is such a sweet gentle giant when I have seen him with fans.
And Ancic;)

If that's what the women look like where you live, I'm concerned. I'm thinking it must either be the Bronx or a cattle ranch in Montana.

For me, it's definitely Dr. Ivo

That's just an ugly picture. I don't think he looked like a woman in it. I've never thought he looks like a woman. Not masculine doesn't necessarily = woman. But that's just me. He's a very pretty man. I love watching him play, when he's 'on' anyway, and I never guilty about that.

I don't know that I have a guilty pleasure player (that sounds kinda dirty:aplot:). Every player I like I have no problem admitting. I mean...obviously. I defend Feli and Tommy Robredo here for God's sake.

You are more than entitled to your opinion, of course. But to me, he's very VERY feminine. Pretty is a good word to describe him.

I actually somehow agree with cmurray, LaLo does have that masculine jaw-line but overall he just doesn't look 'macho' at all, compare him to 'real' men like George Clooney for example. He (LaLo) just looks so... sensual

Lopez, Llodra, Stepanek, Ljubicic. Lopez and Stepanek are actually pretty good players, and I love Llodra's serve and volley, but I'm not sure why I watch Ljubicic matches sometimes....

Oh, I am all aboard the secret liking to watch Lopez train (when he is not sulking.) Just an interesting bag of thoughts when I watch him. For example- He is just so darned fluid. What a great serve. Now I feel better about my backhand. If he had a brain and a backhand- what would his ranking be? [Note- he may be getting better here.] Supposidly he really likes the ladies- does he unleash a hidden animal in the bedroom or is he one of those fellows who is straight but really likes to light scented candles? I bet he would have been really popular during the Renaissance or in ancient Greece!

So Lopez keeps my mind working when I watch him play.

Not for his tennis but for his attitude & antics on ct. & the outfits. I esp like the trucker hats w/ the glittery S on them. HILARIOUS!!!

I have a feeling he knows me now. AT the USO this year , he was about to practise w/ Ivo & he spotted me & my mates watching & started giving us the dirtiest looks ever. We were scared  . I think he remembered me from Miami when he played Verdasco & about 15 of us were sitting behind the baseline cheering for Fer. This made vinnay very annoyed.....lol

Anything that causes DJ Ice Hole to get annoyed is a good thing. Congrats, and keep up the awesome work! :p

I like watching Stepanek because he's hot.

:haha: For me, it's Robredo and Djokovic, because they're cute and sexy, and it's not a guilty pleasure, just pleasure, period.

Oh, that thing? (currently got replay of Fed-Lopez on mute) Maybe it's the shorts, but hadn't noticed before. As it is, it's only 1 or 2 injections away from Federer's.....

Somehow Martine, that apology rings rather hollow. I'm thinking you don't mean it. :sobbing: :p

I understand. Lalo is pretty. Like chick kinda pretty- you have no choice but to watch.

As you can see my true guilty pleasure are Argentines. I love watching them play, i loooooooove hearing them speak (that accent  ), dunno why but i just love 'em

Another guilty pleasure, and i feel real guilty for this one, is Marat Safin. I swear he's a walking testosterone...and i better stop at that :tape:

I need something not related to Tsonga. I enjoyed his match but fear MTF-GM could turn me against him :tape:

For purely aesthetic reasons, I can easily watch Verdasco but tend to only see training sessions rather than real matches when I should be supporting my genuine favourites. Volandri almost falls into this category too.

Otherwise, Stepanek [when not playing someone I like] and Hewitt [when playing like sh!t]. I also really like watching Luczak, and even hope for him to win, but don't tell my fellow Australians.

I don't think there's any shame in liking a certain player. Whatever reason you have for liking them; aesthetic, personality, game or even simply because they win everything. There is no shame in appreciating any aspect of a person, or anything in life in fact. Their attributes were made for us to admire, so I certainly won't hesitate to follow the players I like.

You should never feel ashamed to enjoy a certain style of music, movie, person or player because it seems to be the uncool thing to do. Having said that, it's possible to admire one side of a player and disrespect another. For example, Lopez is extremeley attractive, but he's practically a walking STD.

HAHA great stuff, it's even funnier because it's probably true. But I know the feeling. The guy has almost no personality, but when he's practising shirtless, you feel compelled to watch.

omigod Luzzi. He tried it on with a girl who came to Melbourne with me once. LMAO. I dunno what happened. I mumbled words along the lines of 'slut' on a tram, leapt off and haven't spoken since. The purpose of the trip was not to hook up with tennis players. Not for me anyway.

Next year I will admit to Dadic if he comes back to Aus. I can't say I like gawking at a 17y.o. [even if I kinda did but felt REALLY bad for it, hence the signature :o:o:o].

EDIT: I probably made the first paragraph sound worse than it was. As for the second paragraph...well, how does a 25 year old female sugar coat the hotness of a teenager? Get legal already, to make it ok!!]

Hmm yes that is what really turned me off Luzzi a few years ago.

As for Dadic... well yes IF he returns next year he'll then be 18 and I'll feel SO much better (although still very wrong  )
